Reflections are a big part of a pedagogical training.
In this video, we look at which specific questions
can help you in a reflection session based on an offer.
Hi and welcome to a new video.
This video is about possible questions that can help you in a reflection session.

and support the work behind the Education channel.
And now, have fun with the video.
What is a reflection?
A reflection is the activity to think critically about oneself.
In the context of the professional, it is about the professional self-reflection.
Through the reflection, the relevant staff learns
their own strengths and their own potential for development
and can thus develop personally and professionally.
At the same time, the work can be constantly developed
and the quality of the education and training assignment can be checked.
In the educational training, the reflection takes on a high level.
Often, a so-called reflection session takes place after a given offer.
This is where the offer is discussed.
During a teacher visit, the reflection session is evaluated.
This evaluation flows into the practical grade.
There are very different possibilities and methods for reflection sessions.
I have already made an extra video about one possibility.
I will link it to you in the video description.
In this video, we want to look at questions for the reflection session.
I have divided them into different categories and areas.
I have also made an Instagram post about it
and in the Facebook group there is an overview with all these questions for free download.
I will also link both to you in the video description.
Many teachers already give a reflection arc in the conversation.
Educators can orientate themselves on this.
If this is not the case with you, you can simply ask your teacher
if you can include the following overview in the conversation.
You can orientate yourself on these questions.
Let's start with the questions and start with the first category.
First, the first impression.
At the beginning, you should share your first impression of the offer.
You don't have to go into too much detail.
What does your gut feel like?
How is your mood?
What went well?
What could have gone better?
Most educators are relieved after the offer,
but still excited about the upcoming reflection session.
This is exactly what you can formulate here.
It helps many people to calm down by communicating their mood.
This is where the actual professional reflection begins.
In this category, you should ask yourself
which interests the children and adolescents in the offer showed
and whether you were able to respond to them.
Were there interests that you did not expect beforehand?
How did you deal with them?
The same applies to the skills of the children and adolescents.
Which were shown here?
And did you respond to them appropriately?
What did it look like?
And did the children have the opportunity to strengthen,
expand and deepen their skills through the offer?
Third, the course of the offer.
In this category, you go into more detail about the course of the offer.
Were the children satisfied with the overall course of the offer?
What is your impression of it?
And what do you make of it?
Also important, of course, are you satisfied with the course of the offer?
And why?
Are there any points that you would do differently
about the course of the offer next time?
Which are they?
And what is the reason for this?
An offer often deals intensively with a specific topic,
for example with an animal species,
topics such as fire brigade, agriculture and so on.
Did you have enough knowledge of the topic?
Or were questions left unanswered with the children?
Fourth, your chosen method.
In this category, it is about your chosen method.
Was it useful?
Why?
And were your chosen individual, methodical steps
in the implementation of the offer also useful?
Did you take into account the didactic principles
for learning and education processes in the offer?
Fifth, your professional attitude.
Here it is about the reflection of your own
professional and professional attitude.
How did you experience the contact with the children overall?
How did you approach the children and adolescents?
What did your communication look like, for example?
How did the topic of proximity and distance look like?
Did you treat the children and adolescents with appreciation?
But it is not just your appearance that counts,
but also the overall group dynamics
and your function as a director of the offer.
Sixth, your written plan.
Here you take a look at your written plan.
The biggest question is whether your written plan
ultimately corresponded to the implementation of the offer.
Or were there deviations?
If so, where and why?
If there were deviations, then that's not bad at all.
You just have to be able to justify them well.
Deviations can even be good and speak for
being flexible and situational.
Ask yourself in this category
whether your set goals of the offer were achieved.
What would you do differently in the next plan?
Seventh, your own skills.
This is about your own professional and personal skills.
What skills could you acquire,
expand and deepen through this offer?
Are there skills that you missed?
For example, if there were unsolvable small conflicts
between the children for you.
What else would you like to learn?
Eighth, conclusion and outlook.
In this last category, there is a conclusion
and an outlook on your part.
Where were your strengths in the offer?
What did you really do well?
And where did you discover development potential?
What else do you want to learn?
It is recommended that you name between one and three
very specific points that you want to expand on.
Here you can also link to what your next steps are
to further expand your pedagogical expertise.
Now I would like to know how you reflect
in reflection talks.
Is there a specific pattern you stick to?
Are there specific questions?
Feel free to write a comment.
