Casement Windows: Why They Are So POPULAR!

Hey guys, Sean with American Window Concepts. Today I'm just gonna answer a question about why are casement windows just getting so popular? Let's talk about it. Okay, so we just did a job for a customer out in Long Beach and he had every window in his house replaced, all new construction style, so we had to pull off wood. Big job. Either way, point is, he was noticing that the look of a casement window, it was really what he was interested in. And I'm finding that a lot of people nowadays are starting to kind of look more at the casements. One is going to be, it's like a picture window that operates. When you get a casement window, it just looks so clean when it's installed and done. And we did this new construction style, so we just cut back drywall on the inside, set the window in and retrimmed everything on the outside and the customer was beside himself. He also wanted wind, some nice airflow. Long Beach gets really, really great coastal winds. The other windows were stressing, were strangling some of that ocean air. And so he really was like, hey man, I wanna really get that free air conditioning, if you will. The other thing about it is the outside of the window is going to be pure glass and frame. So it just gives off a very, very clean, elegant style look. And when the window's open, it also, it really does kind of give that elegant look to the windows, that Cape Cod, if you will. When we did that job, we had some neighbors coming up and they were gawking and they were looking and they were like, these things are absolutely beautiful. You know, Anlin made, Coronado casement window. Man, I mean, it was what the neighbors were talking about. And they themselves were thinking like, well, maybe we should probably do that too. The other thing, and I've talked about this before, in some cases, it's almost, you have to have it. Whenever you're dealing with an older house, you know, in California in the fifties and forties, so on and so forth, they would have a 36 by 48 window that was a double hung, which today will not give you an egress code, you know, check mark. So they have to get that out and put in a casement. There's no way around it. It's either that, or you have to put in a new header, expand the wall, yada, yada. We're talking dollars and cents here. The best way to do it would be to do a casement window and that will afford them the egress. So that's gonna be popular by default, whenever you're talking about saving money and not having to open up walls, you know, and do all the repairs for that as well. So these things are fortresses against air infiltration. So either it gives you a ton of airflow or it just strangles it all together. So when it's closed, you have the compression seal, you have the weather stripping on the inside, the triple fin mole hair with the stripping that smashes against the main frame. So you have both of those that are giving you really good airtight window quality. So when this window is closed and sealed and locked, there's a tie rod locking system that when you lift up on the lock, it sends a whole bar down and unlocks the sash, the movable sash. And then when you pull down on the lock, it sends those all the way up. They call it tie rod pull tight locking system. These things are absolutely fortresses. You have to punch through the glass. That's the only way. And by that, you're wakening up neighbors and you're creating chaos at that point. So for security reasons, it's a fortress. Guys, casement windows are on the rise.
