Is China pulling out all the giant pandas from US zoos a sign for something much worse to come or are people just?
Overreacted I don't like that. They're taking the pandas back, but they can't have Panda Express. That's got to stay now
That chicken mushroom dish is amazing. But anyways guys we got to talk about it cuz David could this be the end of
Panda diplomacy between the US and China guys
I know it just sounds very trivial trivial to talk about pandas leaving the zoos, but it could mean something
Yeah, I mean guys this sparked a huge debate on the internet
Sometimes it takes something like trivial to spark a much deeper debate
So make sure you like subscribe and turning your notifications and or pandas are native to only one region on earth
Sichuan this in fact enter the Sichuan Plateau, but guess what else also comes from Sichuan? Oh
Inspired by Sichuan we have the smaller sauce
Check it out at the link down below a lot of foodies and chefs alike really do enjoy it
So check it out on the Instagram and buy yours now. I still remember when higher brothers dropped that panda remix
Sichuan Panda, um, this is the viral headline
It says the three remaining pandas have left the National Zoo why China is taking all its pandas back the u.s
Will have no pandas for the first time in 50 years
since they were gifted to pandas because there have been two American pandas Andrew Ling Ling in
Xingxing and this was during Richard Nixon's administration in
1972 however since then all the pandas are on loan from China
China is not renewing its contract and after 2024 the Atlanta Zoo pulls out the
You know the pandas get recalled
There will be no more pandas in the u.s
And the internet is talking about what it means something serious or not, right?
Cuz China's basically like yeah, you know all these pandas are on a 10-year lease
But we are not going to renew it quite yet. And do you think it's China sending a message?
Obviously a lot of people feel like it is China's sending a message being like hey America
We don't like how things are going if the pandas are just the beginning
We will pull out the pandas and then next it's something else right other partnerships, perhaps
So I guess yeah, I mean I can see why
It's like I can see why some people think it's trivial and not a big deal like yeah, sure. Take him back
I need him anyway, but other people are like, oh no. No. No, this is much. This is the beginning of the end
Um, but you know, I just think that people need something that's pop cultural to like spark deeper thoughts
Sometimes, you know how we always say like trivial things lead to deeper thoughts
I mean thinking about pandas is such like a cute thing pandas. They need help
Procreating like you kind of got him like push them together to even have sex that make another panda
So they're very like lazy animals
I always thought it was funny how much like Asian culture and particularly Chinese culture looked up to pandas considering they are the
Laziest animal in the world isn't it though?
I believe it's the least vicious bear on earth of like and you know how they're let's just say I don't know how many types
Of bears there are like 50. I think it's ranked 50 out of 50 and viciousness. Yeah, they're the only like
vegetarian bears anyways, but uh
Regardless guys, I think it does say something I guess in my opinion. I don't know if I would overreact about it
I mean considering US and China relations. There's so many other signs to tell you that it's not going super
Well, it's not I think the pandas. No, this is the biggest leading indicator. No, the pandas being recalled
It's just a symptom of it. So I just think it's kind of China being like, yeah, man
I don't know. I mean, it's the pandas first and then maybe it's it's partnerships with companies. It's trade
It's maybe other these other more important things and it's we're in such a weird place right now because it's like in US China relations
They're just still doing a ton of trade like yeah, you know
I mean like maybe not peak levels, but it's close to peak levels
But then in terms of the rhetoric in probably media are on both sides. It's so negative. Yeah, maybe it's a media move
I don't know and then you know
imagine you're in those countries and you're doing so much business with the other side every day and then the media is like telling you
Like the other side is like bad in some ways, but they're okay in some ways. So keep doing trade
It's so weird Elon Musk recently gave a really good interview about u.s. China relations on
Lex Friedman's podcast. I highly recommend it. But anyway, Andrew, we got to get into some of the internet comments Andrew
I got to warn people some of these are kind of stereotypical possibly a little
Problematic but also maybe could make you laugh if you just take off your sensitive hat
Anyway, let's get into the comment section. Somebody said why aren't we?
Impregnating these things and then just giving them back
But we keep the clone copy just like China think about if America had the pandas China would clone it and bootleg it, too
What is that?
Is that a funny idea the idea of like a bootleg Panda?
Like so America can have some of them and maybe it'd be like reverse like, you know
How like the white part what does that make us Chinese Americans like bootleg Chinese people because you know
Our parents are from China and they come over here. They have us
We're like are we bootleg Chinese?
Kind of I don't not really I mean depends on how you yeah
One could call us. Well Andrew that is a rhetorical question
Somebody said we'll give back the giant pandas, but it's trying to gonna give back all the technology
They steal probably not
Yeah. Yeah, that is a man that China definitely took some intellectual property
But I will say this it is interesting to be like, all right
Sheldon what I want you to do is make all my stuff for me
Remember the blueprints in your brain make it for me for really cheap. Okay, but then
After the production run is done
Forget it, right just forget everything. I taught you wipe your brain with the men in black flashbulb
You know, what's crazy is I guess the pandas could be an analogy for like a lot of international students like China's like
Yeah, you can take our talented international students
but essentially they will probably come back to China and use the things they learn in America to help Chinese industries and
In a way, there's nothing wrong with that. Like it's wrong to do espionage and spying and all that stuff
I understand that which happens on a very very very small scale
But like a lot of students they will go back to their home country and this goes for a lot of students, right?
Even Norwegian students will probably go back to Norway and still like carry what they learned from America
From the American educational system back to their country. So it does happen
I guess you could make an analogy that the pandas are kind of like that
Yeah, and there will get more comments about that later and or somebody who said they were old enough to remember when Ling Ling
And Sing Sing were gifted to Richard Nixon as part of the original panda diplomacy
And those were the only pandas and or that have were ever considered American pandas
Because they were like essentially adopted even though they weren't born on US soil
Dude, this these pandas are just an analogy for Chinese people
yeah, and uh, you know why it's so significant is because the Ling Ling brand of
Costco pot stickers is based off this famous panda Ling Ling from panda diplomacy
So there's a lot of cultural connections that I wasn't even aware of somebody was saying. Oh my goodness. What does it mean?
What does the Chinese government have planned recalling their favorite sons back to the motherland man? I need to know
It's omnius. I mean just the relationships aren't good right now, man
It's like you break up with somebody and then your ex is like
Hey, I would like my
Or even a dog that you're sharing back right? Yeah. Yeah, I guess it'd be like hey, I want my
My my my back massager back my foot massager back. I use it every day though
Yeah
Somebody said the bamboo they need is only native to China in Singapore if they don't eat that native bamboo
They would die off because of the nutrients in them. Somebody was saying man, they're being fed
This is a Chinese perspective or more of a pro-china perspective
I guess they are not getting the care they need in America because they have to ship over the bamboo from the Sichuan and it's
Like so complicated and it costs the zoos so much
But then the other side Andrew on the American side is like man them animals were way too high maintenance, man
Well, they were taking up all the resources from the other animals in the zoo. Good riddance
Oh, that's an interesting take is that it's actually a financial burden on the zoo
Okay, so I mean I think there's other factors here as much as you can say
Oh panda diplomacy is ending because the relationships between the US and China are so bad. It's also just
They have to ship certain bamboo. Like I'm not gonna lie
It is still mind-boggling to me how weak these pandas are the pandas are weak man. They're weak
They're cute. They got no survival instincts man pandas are cute
Pandas are cute man, and believe me. I'm proud of pandas to a certain extent
But they are a very very fragile weak and it's funny for how much people
And I'm not saying there's not some legit reasons behind it
But like fear monger China and or if panda represent if pandas represent China, can you think of a more lower?
testosterone
Animal that how could that strike a less scary?
Animal like literally it's a bear that you can leave with your kid and it probably will not eat your kid
Yeah, your kid is more likely to kill the panda. Yeah, give it like a flu
Give it a Lego or something. It eats it is a wrap
Of course some people were like man, you know
The China is just trying to punish America because they don't support, you know what the government's doing over there
But it's all good because it's falling apart over there anyway
And then they you know, they listed all the reasons the deep recession that's going on
I don't think China thinks that this is a big badass move. I don't think so
You don't think it they perceive it as I don't I don't think China's thinking like yeah
We want to really punch America in the gut and we're going to send a message
So we're taking back our pandas
I do not in my mind think so
But you know for whatever there's a million reasons why you take the pain and of course
We got to get into some more the definitely problematic comments
But someone said hey, man
Did China decide that some part of the pound panda when ground into a powder or turn into a liquid?
Improves some ailments possibly an aphrodisiac for their small wieners
Amen
Like I said, I pulled this off Yahoo News comments. It's more of a boomer comment. Somebody said, of course
Why don't you guys take back all your students and all your visa holders too? Because we don't want those either
Of course Andrew there's a there's a range of comments. I guess you know, there's a variance of everything from like well
I want to keep the pandas, but if China feels like they should take him back
That's where the pandas grew up and that's where they were born and that's where they would thrive the most
So I accept it all the way to the comments that I just read. So I mean I guess
This these are all gonna be sparked because this feels like a diplomatic L right and diplomatic L's can spark deep. I guess
Sweep up the dust from underneath the rug. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's definitely sparks. Oh, I think it's it feels very emotional
It's so funny that everything on the internet can feel emotional like when China recalls the pandas
then it seems like everybody's hate for China comes out of the woodwork, you know, and it's like
I don't know man ultimately because I identify with the pandas. Yeah, the pandas my Chinese but cuz I identify with them
they're not it's almost like a
Girl a daughter that I adopted from China and I raised and it feels American to me
But if you recall it back to your regime, I hate you David
I guess all in all to kind of wrap this up is
Do you think China is purposely trying to send a strong message by recalling the pandas?
Uh, possibly I don't know like I don't know. I'm not gonna lie
I didn't read like, you know
There's we just know what we know 20 page dissertations out there on panda diplomacy and what it like does or doesn't mean
But I definitely think it's not a good indicator, right? It's not good. It's not
But yeah, I mean it definitely like
Yeah, I don't know. Maybe the pandas miss home. No, I mean, it's definitely sending a message, but I don't think
That this is China's way of hinting at World War three
That's my take
I don't got a hot take that I do not think China looks at this as a hint at World War three
There's so there would be so many other hints out there
But you know, I think it's a maybe it's a way that people can become more
I don't even know what your average citizen can do to prevent a larger conflict down the line
But like it could maybe get people thinking about it
It could just spark some gears, you know, just get the gears turning in everybody's mind
I don't know what conclusion everybody's gonna out here trying to fix this problem in who's trying to fix
That's what he was talking about in the interview with Lex Friedman. He was like
Once you see something coming if people don't act and they don't have the right leadership
It's still sometimes you still can't avoid it even though it's something that people saw like decades ago
All right. Anyway guys, let us know what you think in the comment section below. Is it a big deal?
Is it not a big deal? Maybe you guys know more than us about panda diplomacy
Let us know in the comment section below. We encourage debate. Keep it civil until next time. We'd hop out boys
We out well David. I sure do. Hope they don't take the Ling Ling pot stickers. Those are really good. Those are here to stay
All right
