MY CHINESE 150CC MOTOR SCOOTER GY6 ACCELERATION BOGGING DOWN AIR FILTER BOX DELETE TROUBLESHOOTING

a [Music] hey guys how you doing it's Henry at mowers and blowers cool fall day today but the sun is shining no excuse but to come out and work on my motor scooter as you know from previous episodes I had it stored I wanted to put a fuel shut off in here to store it for the winter so I can just shut off the fuel run the gas out of the carburetor and be good to go for the entire winter but it didn't start and then I'm having bogging problems changed the battery from a motorcycle battery or a lawn tractor battery to a car battery because it fits in there and I needed the lawn tractor battery for a lawn tractor so um right now I've cleaned the carburetor like the third time and uh I've messed with the fuel adjustment screw but the fuel adjustment screw when you turn it out and it runs decent the screw is like barely in there you know what I mean I think the carburetor is messed up or maybe the float needs to be adjusted also the air cleaner box in here it has like a module on there that actually Pulses from the crank case and it's the vent for the oil there's also a clear tube that comes out with something tied to the end of it right I initially thought that was a transmission fluid filler but it's not it's completely filled with oil motor oil because when I picked this up it was on its side so because it's on its side all the oil probably leaked into that Reservoir I wondering if maybe the air filter which I never really looked at or checked cuz I couldn't get it out it's stuck in there you know maybe that's completely clogged and not enough air is getting to the carburetor which causes it to bog down on acceleration the air fuel mixture is out of whack so I got no choice I got a rip all these Plastics off and try to take the airbox off and I want to get a new carburetor that comes with the new cone type air filter that way you'll have no restrictions on the air that's my plan I'll show you what it sounds like right now don't One start [Music] so I got it to start with some some uh starting fluid have been messing with the fuel mixture I just can't get it to stay running and uh it Bobs down when you [Music] accelerate if you let it like simmer a little bit get some momentum [Music] so when you get it to about a certain RPM then it'll start to catch and run really well it's just the from stop to that area is where it bogs down it's tough to get the throttle there so obviously there's is an air fuel mixture problem um or a float problem so I wanted to remove the airbox I remember that when I took the Plastics off the side it was really difficult to even get the airbox because there's the metal frame here you can't even fit the big round cylindrical airbox out from the side if you want it so it looks like the best way to do it is to remove the gas tank but I think I have to remove the Plastics to get to the bolts to get to the gas tank anyway anyway so I'm thinking that um I might have room if I just remove the carburetor and the intake I'll have room to take the airbox out from the [Music] top I've never tried that before so I'm going to try [Music] it [Music] so as you can see I removed the carburetor and it looks like I could have room but there's two bolts underneath that I can't see that looks like it's holding the air cleaner uh box on so I need like a boroscope or something like that and I just got this in the mail the other day and it's uh digital inspection endoscope perfect timing let's open it up and uh see how it [Music] works there it is right there it's like a size of an [Music] iPhone cool on the other side it comes with the cable and a charger and some other little attachments you attach to it so you can actually cook or magnetize and take it up here's the here's the cable with the camera in [Music] it it's a USBC [Music] connection you power it up this is from teslong I have a more advanced bigger test long that I've used in previous videos but this is a smaller version more Compact and portable so I had to get you out of the sun because the glare you couldn't see anything but here you go [Music] so you can snap a picture of it light on light off up and down uh-huh you can change the angle of which way you're looking with these uh up and down arrows memory settings power button nothing to it light on light off intensity too see and we can take a snapshot there we go let's see where the screws are for the um air filter box I see I can see it now looks like it's uh a 3/8 bolt over here I know you guys can't see it it's too dark a 38 bolt over here and a 38 bolt right there get right there it's kind of in a bad spot I don't know how I'm going to get it so every backyard wrencher or garage wrencher or a mechanic OR technician uh whatever your job is if you work and wrench on things mechanical there are times when you need something to slip down into like the spark plug hole to check the condition of a piston and the Piston surface or the bore whether it's scored or not these are times where you actually need something like this a small little pinhole camera with a light on it it's times like this where you just simply can't see with the naked eye or the access is too inconvenient and too tight that you need like a boroscope endoscope type of thing you could probably give yourself a colonoscopy with this thing I'll leave a link in the description for the test long boroscope success success as you saw I got the air cleaner box out fantastic and check it out so I wanted you to see this so the carburetor intake goes right over here there's a vacuum line that goes here for vent as you can see here there's two other tubes that go into here and go into there and I felt it as the scooter was running it pulses like it's a pulse from the crank case right also attached to this is this supposedly a clear tube but as you can see it's completely filled with oil could that have something to do with it because obviously the oil breather goes in here if it was tilted on its side it's going to fill up with oil completely but will that affect the the air cleaner though as you can see there there's nothing blocking here you know it's clear air let's check out the condition of the air filter I was never able to get the this off because with this in there you can't get this plate off you know what I mean and you can't take the air filter off so it's a I don't know do they expect you to change the air cleaner by taking off the entire carburetor assembly it's a lot of work you know um here we here's the air filter see now that doesn't look bad doesn't look bad at all but is air getting in here is the question I mean I would think it does cuz look there's the air intake and there's doesn't look like there's any blockages and honestly this thing is just sitting there it's not even there's no holes from here into there so the oil is not going to you know be affected by it I don't know I'm pretty confused air goes in here or this is maybe the exhaust Y no air goes in here goes through the filter inside the hole comes out here the carburetor it's not blocked I mean there's something with this I'll drain this but should I put this back it's really a pain to get that in there I think I'd like to just bypass this all together to be honest with you but then do I need this do I need all this do I need this pulse thing I don't know if I need it or not so I'm going to take this off and see what does this even do do do anything it's just like a box with that vents into nothing I mean this doesn't even the venting doesn't even go into the airbox see this is solid so it goes in and then it comes out so I guess couldn't I just Loop that hose cuz this doesn't do anything except just like catch oil that's going coming from the the oil vent cuz this doesn't go anywhere where I'm so confused see look this just goes on like that one hose goes in one comes out so what is this used for it's completely useless it's it's just a solid box here that goes into this drain I don't know I don't know and obviously it doesn't matter if you put one hose here one hose there or you flip it you know let's drain this oh not that much came up the other end it's not that much oil that suat looks nicer [Music] so I've been experimenting a little bit I have this like mini vacuum cleaner hea filter it looks like the con ones just want to show you if I put my hand covering the intake it runs better and it idles really [Music] fast if I get my hand out of the way it's full air going and it'll bog and I can't even throttle up without it stalling see if I put my hand with you know fingers kind of opened a little to let more air [Music] in it'll run better so I think maybe the cone filter's way to go [Music] I mean it's loud but see the minute I take the air filter out there's no air filter so all the air is it's high air going in and mixing with the fuel it's too much air to fuel right if you put your hand here with just splitting your fingers a little bit to let some air in to get the air fuel mixture just perfect it'll idle high cuz right now I have the idle screw turned in to test right and now it's idling high and back it back out [Music] I move my hand out of the way and it want to stall the only reason why it's not stalling is because I have the idle SC turned in to give it some throttle you know so I think that I'm going to buy that carburetor kit because this uh automatic choke circuit it's very old I don't know the condition of it the electronic one right also I think I'm missing a piece out of the this top part here when I opened it up I felt something fall down and I couldn't find it so it could be missing something this carburetor I don't know maybe it's been I don't know doesn't have a lot of miles on it it's like 469 miles on the whole engine so I think I'm just going to um spend 25 30 bucks by the carburetor kit comes the whole carburetor brand new has the automatic choke electronic choke comes with the cone filter and I'm just going to try that because I'm going to try to bypass these lines cuz I I didn't hook up some of these lines and I just bypassed it went straight from the intake right into the carburetor like that instead of going through a couple of T's and into an EGR which you know people say you don't really need it it's just where you Mission you know so I think I'm just going to do that I'm going to order a new carburetor with the cone with the new intake and just uh try that right because right now I've been messing with this for many days now and uh I I can't get it to run right anymore you know so it's really frustrating and uh that's what I'm going to do why am I going through all this trouble well because I like the scooter and I got it for free free for free fre that's right free I did put about I don't know uh 50 to 90 bucks into it you know uh but you know it's I like it I like the scooter and uh going to put another $25 into it to get a new carburetor and air filter system and uh I like tinkering with it you know it's kind of fun you learn something more you learn something different uh but stay tuned for uh when I get the new carburetor see you guys
