of the year has been ticked off so the Christmas schedule is firmly on the horizon and with
a dozen top flight games in the rearview mirror already this season, essentially a third of
the campaign has been and gone. The Premier League pecking order has had time to establish
itself and while West Ham are ticking along in the top half, Burnley aren't just bottom
half, they are bottom. All these statistical signs suggest that the first goal in this
game, if there is one, will be key. Both sides have lost every match this season in
which they've conceded first. Poufail, brilliant engine up and down the pitch but he will cause
him problems if they can get enough of the ball to him. Paqueta up with Danny Ings looking
to unsettle Burnley and create something maybe here for Thomas Socek who perhaps had more
time and space than he realised. It is, as you'd imagine, a very busy penalty area in
these early moments. Paqueta away and the shot was a difficult one to see through the
crowd perhaps for Arreola but he watched it all the way. Yeah, Goodman struck it well
but fortunately it was straight down the throat of Arreola. Good up and away. Now Mdouni,
Koliosha wants it and gets it and Arreola had to save it. That's what I was talking about, all of a sudden it lifts the
place. It's a really good win in the air for Vitinho, clever from Mdouni. That's a really good
opportunity and if he gets in the corner I think he scores. Vitinho for Sanderberger. Vitinho again
in from Berger. It's there to be headed and it's headed wide. Socek, Mdouni unable to get the
angles right. There might be more coming from Burnley here. Koliosha, Mdouni in support.
Koliosha goes down and the referee points for a goal kick. Danny lifts his foot off the ground.
Well they are, they were checking for a penalty but the decision now is no penalty.
Pressing from West Ham which I thought something they needed to do.
Jey Rodriguez in the early parts of this half held the ball well. Great ball out there. Koliosha
can get a run. Here he goes up against Sopal. Supported by Taylor. Twisting and turning and
looking to get the shot away and that's a penalty. I think it's sloppy from Kudus. I think he treads
on his foot. Kudus just on the edge of his foot is he? Oh yeah he looks from that angle he looks like
treads on his toe. It is Jey Rodriguez to strike it. Burnley start to the centre in search of some
home front comfort and some much-needed home points. Actually it goes a bit close to the
keeper's foot and he's survived down in the middle. Ario has a swing that his foot doesn't miss by much
but good penalty and this place is rocky. Zuma's flick. Well he really got hold of that.
It just took off and kept on going. Yeah well he's very very comfortable hitting the ball
and he just gets it wrong. Just his body's a bit closed to it. Sort of almost pointed square and
he just hits it just straight as a die. Nicely won back by Amdouni. Kolyosha wants it. Amdouni
goes on and it's ushered around the post by Areola. Gotta say it's a really good save to me. I don't
want his hands outside the post but really good save down to his left-hand side. Penalty in the
middle from West Ham but a fair few from a Burnley point of view as well. Rodriguez is in here.
Supported by Ramsey. Kolyosha trying to get up there with him. Ramsey goes for goal. Well that
would have been quite the introduction. Yeah it would indeed. Daro Shai and Vitinho seems to get
him involved with everyone. In from Ward-Prowse bending all the time. Trafford takes charge.
Benrama. Paqueta. Oh and Zuma's in there. He just swung a boot at it. Burnley happy to steer it away
but it'll come back through so far. And Zuma's header just didn't have the required power.
Areola up and away. Kudus. Now did he use his hand? That's what Burnley are saying. On-go West
Ham with Benrama. Trying to bend one in and he wasn't far away. And Burnley are furious.
Well he's fouled there initially so there's where a set piece of Bayer fouls Paqueta but
I think he did. He hits his hand. Don't look that far away there. Oh wow. Savori was over there.
Brownhill having his say as well. Here's Kudus. Great feet. What can he produce? It's magnificent.
He's made a goal for West Ham United. Divine Mbama off the bench to score. Made by the quick
feet and quick thinking of Mohamed Kudus. Is he getting knee to it? I think it might be Daro
Shea and goal. I think well there's a bit of knee in there too. You see it. I think he knees it onto
his head. It does. Look at this. Divine Mbama hits his knee onto his head. Past James Trafford.
And it has been checked by VAR and it has been confirmed as a West Ham United equaliser.
Look at his feet and the cross is just absolutely magnificent. West Ham coming very strong.
In from Ward-Prowse. Every Burnley player practically back in that six yard box.
Desperately defending in these final moments. Kudus with the ball over. Thomas Socek.
Late twist. And it could well be heartbreak for Burnley. It's a brilliant finish.
Jay Rodriguez can't stop Socek. He brushes him out the way. Brilliant finish. What a ball. Look
at this ball in. The more I look at it. Look the more I look at that. Absolutely blistering ball
in. What a ball. And Jay Rodriguez reaction just said it all. As Socek got away from him.
He powered it home for his ninth goal in 18 games for club and country. You kept pressing me on
could there be a twist. I think you're a mind reader. Absolutely. And there's still a bit of
time to go yet. Cullen. There's the whistle. Another game gets away from Burnley. Another
late late show from West Ham. United pays dividends. The Hammers points tally grows
while Burnley remain rooted to the bottom of the pile and are still without a point at home.
And for a fair while it looked like it was going to be the claret's day.
Jay Rodriguez powering a penalty home and seemingly three points were on the cards for
Vincent company side. But Mohamed Kudus came up with two assists to help West Ham United over the
line. And another late Thomas Socek winner sees David Moyes leave with all three points.
Burnley 1 West Ham United 2.
