Emma Raducanu inspires Prime Video LTA Youth Girls #EmmaRaducanu #GirlsProgramme

It's a really fun initiative for me to give back and inspire young kids hopefully and coaches to get involved in tennis. I think this is like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and experience so can we give a very warm welcome and a big clap to Emma! Some of the stats that I've seen are pretty incredible. 3,000 new girls have joined playing tennis because of this campaign so I'm really looking forward to staying involved with it. Was this something that you knew you wanted to get involved with in the first place because that focus on especially young girls in particular it must be something that's quite important to you? Yeah 100% because when I was a young girl it was very intimidating playing in a squad of boys and a lot of male coaches even to this day so I think having female coaches is really good way to get kids and young girls involved. And the girls today would have you as one of their biggest inspirations for sure. Who was your big inspiration, your big influence growing up? I'd say my big influence that I can remember clearly was watching Lina on the TV. I was always watching her playing Wimbledon and I was rooting for her so much. One time when she lost I actually cried. Is it cool to think that in 10 years time there's potentially someone who's playing at a Grand Slam who's going to say the same thing about you? Yeah it's a pretty surreal thought and even on a small scale just seeing girls here, seeing girls at other clubs just saying oh like we picked up a racket because of you and we're playing because of you it's a really warming feeling.
