A week of eating, swimming and reading in dreamy Sicily🍹🏖 | Europe summer diaries

So, food haul in Italy. We got olives, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, tomatoes, apricots, the best I've ever had, grapes, cherries, this cookie that we kind of started, baguette, focaccia, red wine, some like, what do you call it, potato chips, and then bruschetta chips, and then we got a bunch of yummy sauces that we're gonna have in bread, and I am so excited. This is what happens when you travel with Jala, you actually eat so good. breathtaking. We are at a place called Cefalu, which is about like a two-hour train ride from, or one hour from the center of Palermo in Sicily. It is so beautiful here. I'm with my friend Jala, who I love, and it just feels like such a dream come true to be in Italy with her, because we've been like best friends since like year seven, and we've always just talked about traveling together, so to actually be here is insane. She's just swimming right now. Actually, she's just counting pebbles. I don't know what she's doing. Came here last night, so this is our first proper day in Cefalu. Highly, highly recommend if you're in Sicily. I mean, I'm excited to explore more of Sicily, because if it's all this amazing, then like, oh my god. But yeah, coming from like Rome, which was amazing, but like being at the beach right now is just making me so happy. I'm so pale, so I'm excited to get a little bit more tan, but yeah, also trying not to get too much sun, so we found a little space in the shade next to the stands, because we don't have like an umbrella. No thanks. I'm so sunburnt, bro. Oh no, hopefully I tan by tomorrow. Good morning. I just went and got a baguette for breakfast. Charles is still asleep. I actually have no idea where I am. I'm walking on a new road. Oh no, I do know where I am. I'm fine, but it's just fun getting lost here and like finding different places to go. Really? Hack. Charlie did this, and I swear I'm gonna do this all the time now. Get grapes, freeze them. The best summer snack. I'm telling you. Freeze your grapes. Just got ready for dinner. We're actually not that hungry, so I don't even know if we're gonna get dinner yet, but we have a bottle of wine, so we thought to go watch the sunset, since this is our last day in Cefalu, or last night in Cefalu. We're in Taramina. We took the train here. It was like three hours. We took two different trains, and it was the most beautiful train ride. Yeah, it was so pretty. The view was insane, so definitely if you're going to Cefalu and going to Taramina, just take the train because it's just, yeah, actually a great experience. Goes right along the coast. Pretty much all the way, like it was pretty insane. We are actually gonna go get dinner with some friends because a bunch of people we know from back home happen to be from like our small town. Our small town happen to be here on a small little area of Cefalu, yeah. fast, but yeah, today we just went back to the same beach that we were at yesterday. I didn't actually bring my camera because I knew I wanted to swim to the caves that are like off in the distance, and I just didn't want to like leave things that could then be stolen or something, so didn't bring my camera. But yeah, we swam to these caves out in the distance, and oh my god, it was so beautiful. The water was so blue, and it was just so magical. I don't even know how to describe it. It was so amazing. If you're ever at that beach, highly recommend just do that swim. Like it looks quite far, but it's actually not that bad because the water's so still, you're just kind of like swimming in a pool. It's just so fun. But yeah, Jala actually went there yesterday. She swam over there, but I stayed with our bags. When she got there, she was with another friend of ours. They literally went into the cave, and there was two people having sex literally as soon as they got in the cave. They were like ******* orgasming and all that. Anyway, a bit of a wild time in Italy, but I actually wanted to talk to you guys about books because I haven't done a little book update in a while. I just finished this book. I mentioned in a recent vlog that I wanted to finish this before going to Europe. That didn't happen. For anyone that likes to write or wants to be an author, I 100% think this is a must-read. Even if you're just a creative in some other way like me, I feel like there's so many similarities with like just the creative process in general, whether you're writing or creating a film or just an artwork. Creativity has such a similar process throughout, and the ups and the downs are very similar. So I could relate to a lot of the things she was saying, even if it wasn't specifically for writing. And yeah, I just I found myself loving a lot. She brings a lot of humor into the book, but also just like very honest and vulnerable and tells a lot of things through stories, which I just really enjoy. So highly recommend this book. I am now reading. I just kept seeing people posting about this book, and I love romance. I just mainly read self-help books, and this year I was really like I really want to push myself to read more fiction because I really enjoy it. And I don't think, I think for a while I just felt like guilty, like I was like oh it's not getting anything from it, like it's a waste of time. But I think it's so important to just have some things that you read that are just simply for pleasure. So this is a bit of like a, you know, guilty pleasure, but I shouldn't feel guilty for it. But yeah, just like a little romance book. I have no idea if it's good or not. I'm literally three chapters in, and yeah. I don't know how I feel about it yet, but I will keep you guys updated. But yeah, I'm just gonna sit here, journal for a bit, and just enjoy this beautiful, beautiful day. I got ready. We are now walking to dinner. We have a little time till the restaurant opens, so we're just walking around. It is so beautiful. This is definitely my favorite time of day. It's like 6 p.m, and it's still beautiful and light just before sunset, but it's like not super, super hot. So yeah, I don't know, Charles. Charles is back there. So yeah, we're gonna go have some yummy food.
