I fixed my hair. All good. Wait.
And we're all set. And you know, I just realized this is my very first like camping in the woods.
Like wild camping. I mean, you know, the road is not too far from here, but it is in the wild.
It's not an established campground and there's like no one here.
And I am a little bit worried about the bears. Yes, I am a little bit paranoid.
So, you know, if something happens to me and I'm nowhere to be found, you know what happened.
Yes. Just look after Chillie.
Time. Here it is.
Okay, water is boiled. I'm having something very simple today.
Having miso soup. That's it. I had a very unhealthy lunch.
Just today on the road. So I'm just going to do this.
It doesn't look like it's a lot, but it's okay. I just want a cup of soup and that's it. I'm good.
I'm good. I'm good. All right. Let me try. I'll tell you all about it.
This is good. It's just like being Japanese restaurant.
Exactly the same. This is the life.
So it's nearly nine o'clock, but it's daytime still here.
Okay. So the right thing to do is to hang your food in the bag on tree away from your bike and
your camp. And I'm going to do this today because I just don't want to be disturbed by possibly by
bears. All right. So let's see what trees we have here. It's very, very
thick forest. I reckon I'm just going to use this tree. I'm just going to hang it there.
If the bear gets it, it gets it. It's okay. It's just food. I just don't want to be disturbed at
night or I don't want any bears to damage chili. Okay. Here it is. That's the branch.
So this is how much food I carry these days. It's a lot. I never travel with so much food,
but because I'm going to Yukon and Alaska and yeah, it will be very remote.
So I'm prepared for a lot of cooking. Okay. Oh my God. This is so much weight.
All right. Let's hang it. I'm so unprofessional at the moment. Do not copy me. This is not the
way to do it. The way to do it is like you throw a rope and you like put it up high,
but I am not going to do it. I just, I'm just happy to hang it on a branch away from my bike.
I will do it. If I lose the food, it's okay.
Well, I can't do it. I'm just going to do it here. So unprofessional. Do not copy me.
This is definitely not the way to go. All right. That was hard work. So long food.
I hope to see you tomorrow. Oh wait, I fixed my hair. That'll do.
Morning. We didn't die. Bears did eat me last night, which is great. And I woke up to this.
You have to see this. It's like the water. It's like, it's like a glass. It's so still
and he's got this beautiful reflection of the mountain. So I woke up to this and I just go like,
wow.
I'm going to grab my food now. Hopefully it's still there. Yes, it's still there.
The food is untouched. We can have our breakfast now. It's time to leave this heaven.
So what's the plan for today? The plan for today is, well, we actually have a few things I want to
see today. I think maybe possibly at the end of the day, we'll cross to Yukon. We'll see how we go
with the time because we're leaving late. It's already 12. I really took my time here because
it was so nice. Okay Chillie, let's go.
Music
Some fuel. So this is how fuel stations look like in remote BC.
All right, so which one are we? We are second one. Cool.
These guys are tough. Cool. We got a bit of a gravel, probably not for too long,
but something is better than nothing.
This way, sorry, sorry, sorry. Yeah, we're nearly at the Boya Lake, which is apparently like amazing.
We'll be camping here. It's an established campground or I don't know. I don't know what
to expect. Maybe there will be bicyclists or maybe it will be something more
flash. We'll see. Whatever it is, it doesn't matter. It's $20 apparently.
And the view. Squirrel! Run! And apparently the views are just gorgeous. So when you're doing
this route, you have to stay at Boya Lake. That's what we're going to do.
Lots of bikes, rider. I think we're going to stay at this playground. Okay.
And we all set up. Site 13, the lucky one. I don't have to put the envelope. Normally,
the thing is you just put envelope here. I just need to change my money or just pay
in US dollars. I'll see how I go. Anyway, so yes, let's check out the lake first
and then we have to eat something. And that's it. This is the lake
from my campground after a little walk. This is what we see.
Looks shallow, huh? Temperature. It is cold, but not as cold as the lake yesterday.
So maybe tomorrow if I'm brave enough, I'll swim.
We're trekking back. I have neighbors. We actually met at the petrol station, right?
Not too far from here. We met at the petrol station. Sorry, what was your name again?
My name's Brad. Brad. Brad came with a little charcuterie platter here
because the boys will be like wolves. So we thought we'd offer you first.
Thank you so much. That's so nice of you. Thank you. Hold on. We're in the frame. Thank you so
much. I'll take the biscuit. Thank you. Thank you so much. Alrighty. Well, I am being so creative
today. It's just going to be meal. I'm just mixing up everything what I have. So there's
vegetable stock. There's four stock. There's red lentils. There will be onion, a little bit fried.
And uh, where is it? Where's my potato? That's it. So it's going to be like a soup.
Lentil soup with potatoes and onion and four. That sort of stuff. Yeah. I honestly don't know
what I'm doing. I just bought like a bunch of random stuff and I'm trying to do something out
of everything. Okay. I think we're ready. It's a lot of soup, but that's good because I'm super hungry.
Yeah, I think so. That's a lot of food. There's again, it's a soup so you can eat a lot of it.
Okay. We ready? Let's see. It is my invention, you know. Nice. I like.
I think anything with red lentils is good. Add anything with red lentils and it's going to be
good. Finally dinner time. Morning. So I came to the lake again in the morning. Look at this. It's
Yep. It's really, really, really, really cold. Okay. No swimming today. I'm not brave enough.
This is my weapon for the bears. A hammer. I don't know if it's going to help and a bear spray. I'm going to
sleep with that in my tent and a knife. I'll bring the knife to the tent as well. And that's the lake.
