Our Last Day of Camp - Row Boats & Art! Ballinger Family Camp 2023 (day 6)

we got some Pirates here we got more Pirates coming from this side hey what are you don't touch us don't touch us with your canoe you are too close to us oops these guys [Music] oh yeah good morning everyone today is messy day in Camp and we're about to pick up Luke and Teddy and see how messy they got I remember Parker doing this many years ago and he was messy what is going on with your hair I did messy you had messy dinner let's see this hair oh my goodness hey buddy how was messy day today good look at can I see your hands oh you got some stickers I have two you got stickers and a little bit of messiness there's a little messiness so kids were coming out a hundred percent that color like their full face all you could see was the little white eyeballs and their whole clothes their whole hands their arms legs and Lukey I don't think Lukey likes to get messy huh did you stay clean yeah yeah you say queen did you have fun in class today did you have fun yeah yeah you want to go get some food yeah all right let's go get some food so today we don't have any really big things on the schedule I think Grandma Julie's gonna try the escape room but there are a couple things that we haven't done yet like uh we haven't turned in our scavenger hunt maps what do you want to do today I oh yeah do you want to go on a boat today yeah yeah that's one thing that we haven't done in a long time is the boats and I love going on the boats and the canoes so I'm hoping we get to do that as a family today [Music] foreign [Music] the escape room for the very first time today and uh some of the other kids went in with her just to to observe they're not really doing the the puzzles as much because they've already done the escape room but Grandma Julie's never done an escape room before so this is her first time ever experiencing that and uh and we're here to cheer them on when they come out of the room huh yeah oh that's good cheering that's good cheering whoa whoa careful do you are you gonna cheer Teddy yeah okay let's see your chair we're just gonna show them your pocket yeah you made it yay you made it yeah we are finally going out on the boats I have said in the past many a time that I love going on a boat or a canoe or a kayak I love being out on the water and today we get to do it last year we didn't get to go on the boats or the canoes because there was a drought and there wasn't enough water in the creek for us to even use the boat the year before that and the year before that we uh we were quarantined so we couldn't go out on the boat so it has been a while since we've been out on the boat I've been looking forward to it all week and today we've got a free day you've been looking forward to it you got a water bottle that is cool I didn't cheat on it there's a tree on it is it like one of these trees out here yeah yeah anyway we are now going on the very beautiful hike the opposite direction from where we've been going throughout the rest of the week so typically when we've gone on a walk this week we've gone back that way towards the ropes courses and the zip lines now we're going the other direction across a very cool Bridge through the trees all the way to the boats [Music] that's where the water is oh my goodness you're right there's water down there there's water over here and giant beautiful redwood trees up into the sky let's breathe it in just breathe in I know you can't but I wish you could because it's it's just lovely here you get to be in it like you're surrounded by things that are alive and bigger than you and you're just this little part of it when you're out here and I think that's what I like about it so much is that like you're surrounded by nature and that feels really good we found our Redwood Cathedral and Jacob really wanted to check it out so we're going off the trail a little bit whoa look at this stump so this this used to be a mighty tree right here yeah it looks like when they came through here logging they cut it off and they didn't plant any seeds when they did the logging all of these trees surrounding this tree are this tree it is the root system from this tree sprouted up all of these other redwoods that were surrounded by while we're in here and this is called a cathedral when they when they grow in this circle like this around a Fallen Tree another interesting thing about redwoods is that the bark it it acts as like a fire retardant like the fire can't get into the actual tree part of a redwood so when this got cut down this ended up being able to be burnt out in uh in a wildfire amazing beautiful good Find Jake okay uh we're here but these aren't kudos they're just row boats I think today Duncan asked to be in charge of this camera so you're welcome yeah we are by studies Billy and Jacob are High cake somewhere I'm following them okay we're about to go into Canoa how close are we together canoe pretty close Luke has got his life vest on you ready to go on a canoe sure do sure do [Music] okay we're on the bus yes are on a canoe look at all that beautiful stuff I got a paddle this guy's got a paddle he's also got a camera very distracting and we are awk I am so excited are you excited you got a water bottle okay we are on a canoe okay probably gonna turn this off for right now [Music] hi Mary and Jacob it is so nice it is so nice to be out on a boat when you say Duncan wait who's staring this thing I thought you were steering are you steering we're going we're going straight for this wall here uh-oh oh boy gotta go okay [Music] I just went under that big log there it's so cool so cool out here but we got to keep a weather eye out for pirates let me know if you see any Pirates okay you see any Pirates no no hi Pirates you're singing a pirate jig of course you're Pirates [Music] I think these Pirates over here are picking blackberries are you guys eating blackberries over there yeah you want to do it a bunch of pirates stealing blackberries from the forest so one of the guys that works here told us that they're wild blackberries that grow along the banks here and he was totally right look at these blackberries you want to eat one here you go is it good you go Duncan how's it Duncan good I'm gonna try one too very good here you go look at all these blackberries [Music] splashing us Don't splash us we got more Pirates coming from this side hey what are you don't touch us don't touch us with your canoe you are too close to us these guys yeah you having fun should we see what it looks like under the water [Music] all right we are back from the boats it was really fun having the big kids have their own canoe and sharing the canoe with Luke and Duncan uh Teddy and Jessica were at the cabin taking a nap while we were out there and it was cool seeing Parker spend time with his grandma she actually does a bunch of white water rafting the only time I've gone white water rafting was with her and the rest of Jessica's Family and so I knew Parker was in good hands with her and they were having a blast learning how to row the canoe around and yesterday on the way to the zipline course we found a number hidden in a log that's part of this there's a scavenger hunt that they do here that's really cool so this is a map of the camp and they have all these different locations and they've hidden numbers in all these different locations and they give you stickers and you put the sticker where you found it on the map all week we've been searching for different numbers all over the camp and we've completed our map and we're going to go redeem our prize right now and we're going to find out what what this year's prize is I'm excited here is this year's prize it is a little pin okay [Laughter] Duncan uh keeps losing his hat he lost it at the pool we went to the pool looking for it they didn't have it they said it might be in this building back here so that's where we're heading next did you get it got your hat Luke is going to make this Wooden Boat very nice yeah [Music] that's your flag are you gonna do another color [Music] foreign [Music] here's your flag can you put your flag in the hole oh nice that looks good okay yeah it's beautiful I I'll say it's beautiful it's very beautiful okay now we want to put a motor on it you want to put a motor on it so these are our paddles and they need to go together like this can you do it almost all the way all the way together good okay and then we'll put a rubber band here [Music] and a rubber band here okay and then we're gonna put the rubber bands around these pegs like this okay look at this you ready so then we wind it up like this a whole bunch and let go and it'll go like that and zoom across the water you want to do that we gotta find some water [Music] that's the craft room I found Jacob set up out here yeah [Music] pretty clever lots of inspiration thank you I really like your owl I'm gonna paint it at home a little bit more because it's got a lot of cracks okay looks super cool and then look at the paint how the paint and the marker mixed in such a cool way on your boat I love that that's Teddy it is pretty Parker made a little Christmas tree like relief painting with hot glue and paint I like that Bailey's working on this that's beautiful is that uh from the canoe ride I think so is that what this is it's gonna be a canoe that's gonna be a canoe yeah I love it thank you I like how like Twisty the roots are thank you and Jacob left his to dry so we'll check on his later I think okay you ready to try out your boat yeah okay let's put it in and we're gonna let go and see it if it goes across ready one two three whoa elbow and now let go whoa you did it I don't know oh there you go that is fun water yeah you built that Isn't that cool yeah [Music] I feel like we're kind of Full Circle here first day we were here this guy was strapped to my chest early in the morning and we went for a hike now the Sun is going down on our last day here and uh this guy's here we're gonna try and get coffee before the coffee shop closes [Music] the sun has gone down it's the last night here and the kids usually put on a little a little like presentation or show sing a couple songs to everybody on the last night so let's check that out [Music] [Music] this is a repeat after me God's word is powerful God for these my teeth God's word is [Music] we have a little tradition which is called ice cream we get ice cream on the last night here so let's go get some ice cream yeah okay wow that's yummy do you want to take a bite how's your ice cream good You're Rocking The Double Hat today is that to protect you protect you from brain freezes oh don't interrupt him Duncan got uh the the Blackberry which is uh what yeah what's your mix here what do you got going rainbow sherbet and lemon server all right all right Parker what do you got going on yeah I kind of want to know oh I do want to know most people think it's possessing it's also the best it's lemon sorbet rainbow sherbet heaven and Ted's money I got 10 20 uh heaven and cookies and cream they mixed together very everyone had and what did you get ice cream cone uh was it good I stuck in Pizza simple yeah Duncan keeps it simple simple and classy that one is BlackBerry hi let's talk about what we learned today we learned that the only boat to crash into another vessel is named captain safety it's true we learned that unfortunately a banana slug is not a ninja turtle and finally we learned that Parker doesn't like to keep it simple or classy thanks
