Classrooms under the ChimneysII : Syucuo School Relocation Controversy Can Relocation Resolve the Problem?

一所距離六輕只有九百公尺的小學，六十二個學生，過了一個不平靜的開學日。國家衛生研究院公布的一份流行病學研究報告，建議這六十二位學童，應該遷校，引發中央、雲林縣政府和麥寮鄉民的激烈爭論。長期與六輕為鄰的麥寮鄉民，對於遷校決策，為何如此憤怒？當學校就在工業區旁，政府應該如何為學童健康把關？

In an elementary school just 900 meters from 6th Naphtha, 62 students had an eventful first day of class. The NHRI published an epidemiological report recommending these 62 students to switch school; which sparked a fierce controversy between the central government, the Yunlin County Government, and the Mailiao villagers. Why are the Miliao villagers living nearby 6th Naphtha so furious about the school relation decision? If the school is next to the industrial zone, how should the government best protect the children’s health?
