I had ICL surgery on my eyes a few days ago. I had worn glasses my whole life so they were a part of me. I also used to wear contact lenses daily.
But when I learned that my eyes could be fixed, I became interested in eye surgery. So I decided now was the right time, and if I was going to have a procedure that would change my life, the sooner the better. Then I realized that eye surgery is not just "LASIK," as my doctor had told me, but also "ICL," which I will show and explain today.
An implantable collamer lens, or ICL, is a permanent artificial lens that is put in the eye through surgery. A surgeon puts the lens between the natural lens and the colored part of the eye called the iris. The lens works with the eye's own lens to bend (refract) light on the retina. This makes it easier to see.
ICL surgery isn't needed to fix vision problems, but it can get rid of or cut down on the need for glasses or contacts.
▶️ My ICL surgery experience:
On the surgery day, I had to use an eye drop given by the doctor to keep my eyes clean. If you’re wearing contact lenses, you have to also stop wearing them, could not have makeup or ornaments. Till today, I wasn’t scared at all and was looking forward to it because I trusted the doctor and I was going to be able to get free from glasses.
When me and my hubby reached to clinic, we met our eye surgeon and after the final examination of my eyes, I was taken to an operating room, then I got tense because this was the real thing.
• I lay on my back on an operating table, and my right eye was the first one to be fixed.
• A mild local anesthetic was put on my skin. This makes my eye feel numb, so I can't feel anything.
• They gave me a light sleep aid to help me calm down.
• The eye and the area around it were cleaned by the doctor. A tool was used to keep my eyelids open.
• A small cut was made in my eye by the surgeon. Then I put something on my cornea to protect it.
• Through the cut, they put in the ICL.
• They put drops or cream in the eye and then put an eye patch over it.
• The whole thing took between 20 and 30 minutes. After that, they took me to a room where I could rest and watch over me for a few hours.
• Your doctor might give you eye drops or pills to take by mouth to help with the pain. You can go home that day or the day after.
• There will be a follow-up visit. Your doctor will look at your eye and see how you're doing.
• They also set up surgery for my left eye a week after the right.
▶️ In addition to improved vision, there are numerous benefits of an ICL:
• It can rectify severe myopia that cannot be cured by other surgical procedures.
• The lens is less prone to induce dry eyes, which is great for those with consistently dry eyes.
• It is intended to be permanent but is removable.
• The lens offers excellent night vision.
• Usually, recovery is rapid because no tissue is removed.
• Individuals who are ineligible for laser eye surgery may be suitable candidates for ICL.
With ICL surgery, you can stop wearing glasses or contacts for good. Most surgeries take about 30 minutes, and getting better afterward doesn't take long. The method is also thought to be safe.
Your doctor can help you decide if you are a good candidate for ICL surgery. They will look at things like your age, the health of your eyes, and your medical history.

Hi family so this is the first time you guys have seen me with my glasses
and by the grace of God this is going to be the last time because I am going to get my ICL surgery
today this is the only surgery I'm a candidate of I I was in one for Lasik I have gone all over
to get this eyes fixed and everywhere I wanted it was like it's not possible I mean various countries
multiple countries to get it fix I wasn't lucky the last 10 years 7 to 10 years there's a new
surgery that came out which is called ICL surgery and my eye doctor he recently told
me that I could be a candidate for it so I went in and they checked everything and yes I am yeah...
this has been a really long process before that it takes a lot of testing a lot of testing
a lot of praying and and yes and today is the surgery so today they are only doing the right eye
and then a week later they're gonna go and do the left eye but before that this morning they told
me to put One Drops of this medicine in I will leave it on the screen I had to put one drop in
at 8 15 then 8 30 and then 8 45
and then my surgery is at 10 o'clock 10 a.m in the morning so we are now just heading there mom
is home with the girls thank God Mom is over so hubby is driving me to the surgery and this is
my glasses when I take it I just know I can't see anything they call me their special case their special client
so this is how thick my glasses is and even this thickness I had to pay extra for them to make it
this thin thin right but yeah this is how thick my glasses is but each time you guys see me I always
have contact lenses on cause I just too shy to wear this glasses on camera so I always have no clue of how vein the pinkton is
Oh come on not being vein I am just blind. This thing is thick come on yes this is wasn't cheap and
um still it's just extremely thick so they don't want me having any product on my hair they
don't want me having any makeup on no lip gloss nothing on so I'm just that's how they want
me they want me to dress comfortable and this that's a lot of don't I couldn't eat no food
no drink since 12 o'clock last night no kisses no hugss but that's not true but yes I'm so excited
guys I will be able to see I'm not supposed to be excited you're supposed to stay calm for this
that's not true leave me alone yes I'm feeling sick but I'm excited I will be able to see my
husband for the first time with my real eyes I will be able to see my kids for the first time
so emotional I want to cry but I'm not gonna cry but yeah so I'll be walking out and be able to see
I know it's gonna be hard for me because in the morning normally when I wake up
the first thing I reach for is my glasses so it's gonna take a while for me to grow out of that
I'm bringing you guys along I'm bringing you guys along hubby is so excited for me
aren't you yes a lot of praying for you a lot of praying for God to heal your eyes
seeing you in the morning and you're like looking at your phone and you
don't have your glasses on and then you try to look over at me
and you can't see I can so right now I kind of see you guys I can't see it like this I'm gonna
be able to see things like this so it's really bad and I my parents noticed I had eye problem when
I was in kindergarten so that's how long I had suffered and I'm an 80 baby so that's how long
been blind and you already had one surgery what was the other one yes I had one surgery
for my retina that's another thing too because when I went to my retina doctor he was like you
are just so lucky because my eyes are so bad it scratches too much and it start poking holes within
my retina and he was like if we guys wasn't going to catch it you're were just going to wake up one
morning and all you could see is just black and I was going to be like that for the rest of my life
blind because my retina had holes in it so because of that that's another
doctor which I have to see constantly to make sure that my eyes are not scratching too much
glue those holes together but yeah
I don't know why but
all you got to do is read the book of Job it's just another test just to show
how blessed you really truly are that's true how much we should appreciate that the gifts
lessons on a daily basis that's true all of those you guys who can see really really good
you don't know what you have you should appreciate God more you should really
you have you're lucky you're blessed I'm blessed too you always quick to gripe and
groan whenever we have an owie or you know something's not working right or my shorts
my sword is on my shoulder but you don't realize how lucky and blessed you are with
everything else that works great perfectly fine on you we don't sit there and say oh
foot feels really good today no but if it hurts oh Lord God why did you make my foot hurt so bad
yes that's true okay guys so we'll see you guys at the surgery center I don't know if we are allowed
to film but we'll be able to take as much as we can if not we will see you guys yes sorry
but if not we'll see you guys back at home
just for you guys to see the kids and see patches pinkton, don't call me patches pinkton
I don't know we'll see you guys later so this is prior to the surgery we got about
15-20 minutes because there's another surgery that's going on this is her print and ready to go
okay so we just got done with running her Iv it is now the time is 10 37 so they're taking their back
to go ahead and get her anesthesia run about 15 minutes for that to settle in and I'm not allowed
back there right now so just keeping her in my prayers and I get to see her in a little while
good morning family so this is the next morning this is how I came home yesterday with all the
medicine they had in me I was so tired I just went and fell asleep I slept all evening or
afternoon and then I woke up for a couple of hours had dinner and then I just went back to bed
yeah so this morning I'm supposed to report back for them to check everything make sure everything
is looking great and then we'll move from there so a little back story about yesterday after I got
out of surgery my eyes had these milky film over it like Cloud so I couldn't really see good I was
a little bit afraid I just thought the surgery was not a success and also yesterday but this morning
when I woke up I noticed that the cloudiness is going away so my site is getting a bit sharper
which I'm so excited over it because I was really depress yesterday so the excitement
of seeing the kids it was impossible I still couldn't see them Clear yesterday but now
they are in school so hopefully by this afternoon when they get home I will be able to see them yeah
so it's going away and another thing too I'm not a vampire but I'm very sensitive to the sunlight
because moment and I had to take the kids to school and it was just so bad I had to cover my eyes and
I or I had to close my eyes because the sunlight is just too bright for my eyes and then another
thing I noticed last night if I look at light it had this run like things around it so just so
be aware and all of those are normal when I cover my eyes like this I can now see things I can now
read things even though it is not very very sharp but it's coming and according to my doctor it will
take time it will take some days some people I even saw on YouTube it took them some months so
that's normal and I am just so happy that I'm able to get my life back I'm able to see things
I'm able to wake up in the morning and just see the Beautiful World I don't have to go scrambling
looking for my glasses or looking for my contact lenses when I'm rushing sometimes in the morning
I'm rushing to put my contact on and it hurt my eyes I started noticing I started getting some
black marks under my eye because of the constant pulling down pulling up to put my contacts in it's
it was a struggle so I am just so excited for this so I'm now going back to the doctor let them check
it make sure everything is going well and I will see you guys when I get back okay family so we
are back again from my eye doctor where I left it up the last time we went there did some checkup
I had to give it couple of more days before going back so this is our last trip good news everything
is going great so we are going to Now work on the left eye on Monday today is Friday so I'm
very very excited for that personally my vision is 20 40 which is getting great and according to
my doctor is going to keep getting great over time so I can see from this eye I can't believe I can
see with my own eyes it's just like a dream come through guys whoever if you are suffering from
eye problem and they tell you that Lasik you aren't a candidate for lasik or if you're just afraid
about lasik because you have to keep going back to get a touch up I think after every 10 years so I
would highly recommend that you give ICL a try I I lost hope I lost hope completely I just thought
I was going to continue being like this for the rest of my life but I tell God thank you that I
have my life I'll be able to see I'll be able to drive without being afraid at night and overall
I'm just excited I cannot wait to have both eyes together to be able to see the beautiful world
so I'm gonna keep you guys updated on the left eye but for the right eye it was a success guys so I'm
