Right guys, so in this video we're going to show you the main buffet area on the Discovery Princess.
We will walk you through the breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The buffet on this ship is called the World Fresh Marketplace.
It's open from 5.30 in the morning till 10.30 at night and it's open all the way through.
There's no stops or closures between breakfast and lunch and then lunch and dinner.
So that food is going all throughout the day.
So if you're ready, let's go eat.
Right, okay, so the main part of your breakfast buffet is just here.
We'll take a quick look.
So we've got some fresh made vanilla waffles and then we've got some wild berry pancakes
and there's a massive selection of toppings here as well.
Creams and jams or jellies to chocolate chips and marshmallows.
There's a selection of different sauces here.
There's some HB sauce, A1 sauce, soy sauces and all different kinds of hot sauces there.
We've got some roasty potatoes, some andouille sausage, some grilled red tomatoes,
some baked beans, some plain scrambled eggs,
some boiled eggs, just says boiled, doesn't say what time.
Then some bacon gravy and some buttermilk biscuits.
Then you've got your sausage, that's some egg for frittata, some bacon there
and these are the crispiest hash browns that we have ever had on a ship.
Then they've got some congee there, some garlic rice,
some chicken adobo for the Filipinos on board
and some aloo bhaji there for the Indians on board as well.
So there's a good selection there, different kinds of cuisine for your breakfast.
That's just repeated there.
Oh, there's some different bits here.
Carrots and peas, that's a little bit of a strange one for breakfast.
Some sautéed cabbage and peppers, some parsley potatoes,
there's sautéed mushrooms and then special sausage,
which is sausage with peppers and onions there by the looks of it.
This is like a little gluten-free section.
They've got some gluten-free pancakes and some gluten-free breads there.
Just coming across now, we've got a selection of smoothies here.
Then we've got a little deli section, you know, your salamis and your cheesies,
a selection of smoked fish, white fish and some smoked salmon.
Then in the middle here, we've got some pastries and some breads, some croissants,
different mixed rolls there, there's some cereal and milk
or you can get little boxes of fruit loops.
Oh, I do like a fruit loop.
Shame we haven't got Lucky Charms.
But then you've also got a muesli section here.
So some pre-made and pre-milked muesli
and some different yogurts and some granolas with some toppings
and then more cereals and then the bread is just repeated again in this little circle here.
And then this top half of the buffet is kind of repeated
but there is a few other things which we will go over.
They haven't got them out right now,
but they will have plain bagels, muffins, brown toast and white toast here.
Then they also have got some cream of wheat,
some oatmeal and then grits as well.
And then as I say, a lot of this is repeated.
Plain scrambled egg and today's scrambled egg here is with cheese.
We have seen this with crab as well.
They might have had other things in there.
They've got some classic corned beef hash, lots and lots of bacon.
Fried egg station here.
They do have a poached egg station.
You will have to wait for those, but they do have one.
Oh, we've got some panna brioche here with some syrup.
Some grilled pork chops.
If bacon isn't enough pork for you in the morning.
Oh, we've got this huge trio wheel of monkey breads here.
Not sure what monkey bread is.
It looks like a tear and share kind of caramel bread.
And then more sausage.
Oh, some steamed cauliflower.
We've got some grilled tavern ham.
Don't know what it's sitting in.
Never heard of tavern ham before.
And then just some roast potatoes, steamed potatoes again.
Then I've just found out they do also have two omelette stations.
You can just see all the ingredients in the back there.
So there's one on either side of the buffet.
And then to end it all off, you've got some fresh fruits here.
Some whole fruits and some diced fruit.
And exactly the same on this side as well.
And in the pastry shop, we have your pastries.
So there's more breads here.
Some lovely looking banana bread.
All the rolls and croissants I've already shown you.
Some fresh baked banana nut bread.
A huge selection of danishes and muffins.
So there's muffin bran, fresh baked custard danishes there.
Blueberry muffin, a Danish apple cinnamon.
A little kind of Cinnabon style roll.
A lemon Danish.
These are very nice.
There's lots of filling in these.
A strawberry Danish.
A carrot muffin.
A huge sugar donut.
Another blueberry muffin.
A chocolate muffin and an oatmeal muffin.
And then across the other side, there's just a selection of jams or jellies.
Toppings, peanut butter and different seeds there and sprinkles.
At the start of the buffet, they do also have a smaller section.
Sometimes this section is open earlier than the larger section at the back.
But as of today when I've come in, both of them seem to be open.
So this might be, if you come at half past five when the buffet opens,
this might be the only section that is open.
It does have some hot food as well as a few pastries.
But the largest selection is at the top.
In this section, which I can't see many people maybe using,
also has a little create your own salad bar there.
Not for breakfast, but it's there if you want one.
They also have a tea and coffee section here.
So they've got, this one's decaf, this one is normal.
They also serve hot water and they've got a good selection of different teas there.
For us Brits, they do have English breakfast tea.
So that's always a bonus.
Another hot chocolate machine there that also serves water.
They have cream milk and skimmed milk, sweeteners, a water and ice machine.
And then in these machines, they have lemonade and iced tea.
They do do juice.
I think you just have to ask your server for this.
You can also have, I don't know about alcohol because it's a little bit hilly,
but you can get like soft drinks weighted to your table as well.
And as always, knives and forks.
If you're wondering where they are, they are already pre-wrapped up for you on your table.
And then they do also have a water bottle refill station here.
Right, so we got some food.
Now, it's been a few hours since I filmed that
because we came up at like six o'clock this morning when we woke up.
It's a bit more hectic now.
So the opening times aren't very clear.
It says it's open from 5.30 and then I think dinner ends at 9.30
but the buffet is open till 10 or 10.30.
So yeah, the buffet opens 5.30 in the morning till 10.30 at night.
Now, the only specific times are for dinner which are 5.30 and 9.30.
It doesn't actually say when breakfast ends and lunch begins.
That's the only thing.
Exactly, but we'll worry about that at another time.
Right, so yes, I have piled a load on my plate this morning.
I'm a bit hungry.
I'll worry about whether my trousers will fit when I get home.
You don't need to worry about that, okay?
So I've had a couple of brioche rolls that I've then got some crispy streaky bacon.
I'm going to do some like bacon sandwiches.
I've got a lovely looking custard pastry.
The pastries look really nice on the breakfast buffet.
Probably the best pastries we've ever seen anywhere.
So if you like pastries, you'll be okay on the Discovery Princess.
And then I've gone for some mushrooms and a couple of hash browns
and a slice of toast.
That's it, I think.
They do fresh made waffles.
Look at that for a delicious pastry.
But we're sitting outside because it's very busy.
So all this is getting cold.
So leave us alone now.
But the other bonus as well to sitting outside is the views of the ocean there.
Can't complain, eh?
We're all done now.
Once we figure out what time lunch starts, we'll be back then.
Right, so now it's lunchtime.
Let's head back into the World Fresh Marketplace
and show you what delectable goodies they've got today.
So this section at the top end is still serving breakfast.
It is 11.30.
But there is this section with the dinner out.
So we'll just show you what they've got quickly.
Ignore that sign because I have asked permission.
So they've got some Kashmiri rice there.
They've got some Kashmiri chicken masala.
Then they've got some steamed rice.
Oh, some big chunky fish curry.
That looks really nice.
Big chunks of fish.
They've got a dal curry.
They then have some little chapatis there.
Some freshly made onion pakoras and some just fried poppadoms.
Oh, they then have, look at these baguettes.
Some fresh made tuna malt sandwiches there.
They look really nice.
Oh, some loaded baked potatoes.
Some fresh roasted chicken there.
He's just sprinkling now with some herbs.
And then you've got some sauces here.
Some mushroom sauce, a demi-glace, a peppercorn sauce and a green mustard sauce.
Oh, and then a delicious looking bacon wrapped pork loin.
That does look very moist.
Then some normal baked potatoes there that you can top with your own toppings.
Oh, some more roast strip loin there.
Some more roast meats.
Got so many different roast meats on this buffet.
Then we've got some mashed potato and then you've got some gravy.
Oh, and then it's got some chicken mole.
Some steamed mixed vegetables.
Then we are on to a little onion tart and some spanakopita.
Oh, it's a real mixture on this buffet.
Some grilled fish fillets there with some tomato salsa.
Some ratatouille and then some barbecued chicken drumsticks and thighs.
And then just around the corner again, we've got some vegetarian Singapore noodles.
Some dragon pork.
Looks like a sweet and sour style deep fried pork there.
And then there is some bread here and some toppings there for your soups.
They've got some tom yum kung soup and a potato cream soup as well.
So some of the other side now is open.
So we'll just go through.
Looks like they've got some macaroni and cheese.
And they're not gluten-free pancakes like it says.
They look like some little macaroni and cheese pots there.
Got a little pasta station.
This one is pasta with lobster and that looks like pasta with sausage and a creamy pasta there.
We then have some aloo bhaji and some chicken adobo with garlic rice.
Just in the middle part here, there's some more sandwiches.
We've got fritters, zucchini, gorgonzola sandwich,
a baguette of smoked trout and a Waldorf chicken sandwich.
And then like I said before, the rest of this part is still serving breakfast.
Right, okay.
So that was your lunch buffet.
We're not really that hungry to eat the lunch today.
But we have eaten the lunch in here before.
I think we recorded that on the embarkation video.
So if you were interested in a more in-depth review of the food at lunch,
go and watch that one.
Why not?
But no, it's really delicious food again.
So we will be back here at half past five for dinner.
And we are now back at the World Fresh Marketplace for your evening meal.
Right, so tonight is Gala and Indian night.
So we'll show you around quick before everybody else makes it all dirty and messy.
Because this is the vegetarian biryani.
And then that's just some steamed rice.
You've then got some lovely grilled asparagus.
That is really nice.
We've had that before.
Then you've just got some marinated and grilled vegetables there.
Oh, some lovely looking pork chorizo sausage and linguine.
Got some loaded potatoes in there.
And then we've got roasted pineapple chicken.
Oh, that sounds delicious.
Then we've got a quartet of sauces.
You've got grain mustard, a demi-glace, a peppercorn sauce and a mushroom sauce.
Oh, and then some salmon tandoori.
Now that does look tasty.
Then we've got some toppings here for your baked potatoes.
And then we've got another meat here.
We've got a roast strip loin.
Oh, that does look nice.
With some horseradish there.
And then it's just some sides.
So mashed potatoes and gravy.
Veal stew there.
And some steamed mixed vegetables.
Oh, thank you very much.
And then we've got some roasted vegetables.
And some vegetable paella.
And then we've got some grilled fish fillets.
Some Brussels sprouts.
Some little spinach and feta tart.
And then, oh, they do look fancy.
They are chicken cordon bleu.
Then we are going round.
We've got some Korean stir-fried chicken.
And then some Korean noodles with mushrooms and cabbage.
Some tofu there.
We've got some lovely looking selection of breads.
And then some toppings here.
And then we have smoked salmon chowder.
And some spinach soup.
We've got some very fancy looking seafood salads.
You can top them with your own sauces.
Either a marinara or an aurora sauce.
They do have a create your own salad bar here.
Loads to choose from.
And then we've got some sliced fruits.
And then, so that was all that side.
I will now show you this side.
We've got some lovely looking shrimp curry.
And some vegetable biryani with tofu this time.
We've got a fish curry.
A lamb curry with some poppadoms there.
And then an egg masala.
We've got some white cabbage.
A vegetable korma.
An okra curry.
Some dal there.
And then we are onto chapatis.
Some chicken curry.
And some chicken biryani.
Just crossing over while I wait for the queue to die down.
We've got some sliced ham.
And some cheeses and some salamis.
Oh and some lovely looking focaccias there at the back.
And then just some grilled vegetables there.
We'll finish off on the warm side now it's calmed down a little bit.
We've got some baked mama's lasagna.
A few types of pastas there.
And then you've got some sauces you can put on them.
Then we've got a Japanese section where they will make you some vegetarian broth there.
Some seafood ramen.
A chicken ramen with vegetables.
And a pork ramen with vegetables as well.
Right so all the desserts will be in the pastry shop.
And as it's elegant night, gala night sorry, I'm wondering what they've got.
Oh so we've got a selection of cookies and some brownies there.
Oh we've got some oatmeal cookies.
We've then got some coffee bars.
Some grandma's chocolate cake.
Some blueberry crumble pie with a vanilla sauce.
Guessing that's like a custard.
Some angel food cake.
Some little cherry trifles.
Even though they're raspberries.
Then some cherry pies which you could go down and put some of that vanilla custard on.
So they also have a kids corner here.
Just run over it quickly there's not much.
So they've got some spaghetti.
Some little muffin lasagnas there.
They've got some mini sloppy joe sliders.
Some fried chicken nuggets.
Now Stacey's tried these and they are very nice by the way.
And then just around the corner they've just got some actual chunky chips.
It says french fries but they are chunky chips.
And they also do them with Cajun spice.
Right so this food in the buffet on the Discovery Princess looks absolutely amazing.
So like Kev said when he was showing you around tonight is Indian night slash Gala night.
So every night on our cruise there has been a different theme in every night.
From Mexican, Italian.
We'll put a list over of what the theme was each night to give you a rough idea.
We have every night been up to have a quick look.
We haven't eaten here every night.
We wish we could have but obviously we ate in the main dining room as well.
Right so we've just had a quick interruption.
The captain came on the speakers from the bridge
and said that if we looked out of the window on starboard side there was a pod of killer whales.
And we've just looked out and we've just seen them.
We've actually seen some whales.
I did try to record it.
If it worked because we were very far away I will put it on.
But just to make sure it's very clear.
You can if you want to go to the main dining room and the buffet on the same night.
We just can't eat that much.
Just so that is very clear okay.
You can eat as much as you want.
Do what you want.
Those that watch us all the time are like you're liars.
But no it is a lot to eat but we tend to choose one over the other.
Sometimes we kind of have to.
But in general we have been up to look at the theme every night
and it looks a really good buffet on board the Discovery Princess.
And also I will say that there is waiter service in the buffet
because I know it's on some ship companies and some ships it's not.
So but there is waiter service.
Right so seeing it is Indian night.
Oh and I will say as well if you aren't much for Indian food there is other options as well.
It's mainly Indian but there is other options if you're not a fan of it.
But I've gone for chicken biryani, a poppadom there, a chapati
and under that is some roasted veg.
And then like I said there is some non-Indian stuff.
I've gone for a loaded baked potato that looks absolutely delicious.
It's really really good quality food on board the Discovery Princess's buffet.
It's top notch.
It's been great for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Yes but this dinner is out of this world.
I will just pick this up right.
This is a freshly fried hand-breaded cordon bleu chicken breast.
When are you going to find this on a buffet?
As well as tandoori whole sides of salmon, pineapple chicken.
The list on that buffet was endless tonight.
It was a really good selection.
I might say it's just a theming every night.
It just switches things up a bit.
Yeah I like that part of it.
Let me just show you the inside of this.
I mean look at that.
That's like better than any chicken dish we've ever had on another ship before.
It's fantastic.
So let's eat our Indian food and look out for more killer whales.
Can you see any?
So even the prawn cocktail, you know they make an effort seeing as it's on the buffet.
They put it in like a martini glass.
So you know it's not like it's just on a in a plastic bowl
or it's just all on a plate and you scoop it up.
At least they made an effort to make it look a little bit fancy for a buffet.
Just a heads up, the chicken biryani, the chicken was bone-in
and also the chicken curry, that was bone-in.
I had one piece where I had, I can't find it out, just a small bit of bone.
So just a warning.
Some of the bits like on a biryani might have bone-in.
Because Kev wouldn't be bothered with that.
But if you're somebody like me that I don't like chicken on the bone.
I know some people are a little bit funny about things like that.
Yeah, so just be careful when you're chomping and don't get a piece of bone stuck in your tooth.
Don't call me greedy, I do love ramen.
They did have some ramen bits, so I thought I'd try one.
I've just had the chicken one.
So it looks like it comes with really big pieces of bok choy and chicken.
The broth is okay.
Don't expect some, you know, high-end ramen broth.
The chicken's tender, the bok choy is crunchy and the noodles, they're not too bad.
Don't expect high-end ramen noodles, but they're well enough for a cruise ship buffet.
Right, so for desserts, we just went for literally a couple of cookies.
Stacey's had a brownie and I've gone for the angel cake.
This isn't the same angel cake that we get at home.
Ours is like bright pink.
And is it pink and white?
You get like the angel slice.
Yeah, it's like pink and white.
Whereas this looks like it's got like a custard in.
It looks a little bit...
Let us know what it is in the comments.
Is it like a...
It looks like it's got a crispy top.
I can't make my mind up what that is.
Is it meant to be crunchy on the top like a meringue and then really soft and custardy?
It's nice though.
And then all these cookies and cakes and brownies,
everything in that little pastry shop is made fresh on board.
So no stale cookies for us.
And the same as with lunch and with breakfast,
all the tea and coffee, water and iced tea and lemonade is included as well.
Right, so that's it.
We've shown you breakfast, lunch and dinner in the World Fresh Marketplace.
We think it's fantastic, fantastic quality on this buffet.
Great selection.
It's the best we've seen on a buffet personally.
The theme nights as well.
Every night we've been on, there's been a different theming.
Now when you think the captain did tell us on the gala evening,
there was either 32 or 34 different nationalities on board this ship this week.
That's a lot of people you've got try and please on a buffet.
But I think they do a great job.
And as well on top, you get your weighted service.
So if you've got a drinks package or not, you can get drinks delivered to your table.
And they've got the tea and coffee machines all through the day.
And they've also got the water filling machine for your bottles
or your thermos tumbler kind of cups,
which I think is a great addition.
Save trying to hold a bottle underneath them.
Pesky little things which you're not meant to do by the way.
So it's great that they've got the water filling station.
We've also done a main dining room video showing you all the options for that.
So go watch that if you're interested in coming on this ship
or you just want to relive some of that tasty food that you've had on board your time here as well.
But there's other videos and we've got Alaskan content as well.
So go and watch them.
And while you're at it, give us a subscribe because it helps us out greatly.
So we're going to leave you there.
So as always, thanks for watching guys and we'll see you next time.
Bye.
