we have a leak in this sink we're having
a hard time figuring out where it was
coming from because it wasn't anywhere
down these pipes and yes there is a P
trap under the house so don't come at us
for the plumbing here we tracked the
source down to being this valve right
here so we're going to be removing this
valve today and replacing it this one
has CPVC pipe coming in the back side so
we're going to be cutting that off with
a hacksaw and replacing this whole valve
so the first thing you need to do is cut
off the water to your home and make sure
that you turn on the faucet so that all
the water drains out we just have a
short hacksaw here we're going to use to
cut the pipe and we're going to cut it
as close to the fitting as we can I'm
also going to release the nut on this
valve you can do this with a pair of
Chanel loocks or some pliers uh Channel
like just make things a little bit
easier CU it you can get a better grip
on
things if you have a pair of PVC Cutters
like these you can get a nice clean Edge
on this where you don't have as much
clean up to do so I just took some
sandpaper and cleaned up that outside we
want to make sure there's nothing on
there that would prohibit a good seal
then we're going to take a paper towel
and make sure everything is really dry
now we want to test fit our fitting just
going to slide it on there make sure
everything's good you want to make sure
when you're working with this you're
using
CPVC glue not PVC glue you're going to
make sure you get a good coat on here
all the way around but thin then you're
going to slide your fitting on you only
have 5 minutes of work time so make sure
you get it on there
quickly and we're going to let that sit
for 5 minutes to glue itself down and
then we're going to screw the valve into
it okay so now we have our valve I
wrapped Teflon tape around the threads
it's not 100% needed but it definitely
is always a good idea when working with
plumbing now we're just going to thread
this on when you're wrapping your Teflon
tape always do it the same direction of
the way you're threading on so it
doesn't just pull it off I'm just going
to give it a little half turn here and
the last thing to to do is to connect
the supply line and I also put Teflon
tape on that joint you're going to wait
at least 1 hour for the glue joint to
cure and then you can turn on your water
if you're working with hot water which
would be on the other side here then you
would wait 6 hours for it to cure but in
1 hour we'll turn this on you'll have
one person inside at the joint while the
other person goes outside and turns the
water on so you can yell at them to turn
it off quick if you have any leaks but
definitely test for leaks I always check
the day of for leaks and I check the the
day after as well just to make sure
everything is good to go thank you so
much for making it to the end of the
video it'd be awesome if You' click that
