Tween skincare craze: Dermatologist shared what beauty products they should and shouldn't be using

well ladies it is an obsession serums bronzing drops lip oils I don't even know what some of those things are but you know who does twins including my own I have seen these tween shopping in these stores and yes they do know their products and we also know that a lot of them are pricey many of these products going upwards of $40 a pop but these girls want it and they want all of it yeah they want that $60 moisturizer but a a lot of par I know a lot of parents aren't in the know when it comes to this boom skincare industry yeah so I talked about local dermatologist for what parents do need to know like it's so good like it's so like hydrating listen to the skincare regimen of these tween I have my glow recipe toner I have my ordinary serum underrated Fenty skin Hydra viser it's like a um sunscream I use my tower 28 SOS spray drun gol and eye cream amazing TLC serum This Is My Lan moisturizer teens spent 33% more more on cosmetics and 19% more on skincare products in 2023 than the year prior and that number is expected to continue to grow companies using social media messaging and marketing to attract more and more young consumers why do you like skin care I just think it's really fun I think it's very like relaxing it gets you like to have a good routine when I'm older I'll have good skin if I maintain it I start at a young age like the packaging on some of them is cute but another kind of beauty message is also trending drunk elephant is not made for children just because it's trendy and it's the thing to have at the moment doesn't mean it's right for you many parents agree also concerned about the time and expense of this new craze so I talk to local dermatologist Dr Mary Griffin what is your advice from moms like me what should we be looking for in the skincare aisle for our teens and twin the teen beauty routine should be pretty simple gentle cleanser oilfree sunscreen oilfree moisturizer you really have to read labels that's really important um and if you don't know what it means look it up Dr Griffin says water should be the number one ingredient also look for the words non-comedogenic oilfree and gentle and while holonic Serum is okay no silicone no retinol no acids and no oils they can cause irritation rashes and acne as well as Sun sensitivity and sunburn which can lead to Long long-term damage these are all products you recommend these are great for teen and tween skin Dr Griffin likes these less expensive Brands you can find in just about any drugstore and she advises parents to make sure their kids are aware that social media marketers are paid or compensated smells so good smell it and perhaps we should all remind ourselves beauty is only skin deep now on Instagram the founder of drunk elephant Tiffany Masterson says many of the Brand's product s are designed for all skin including kids and twins but she says they should stay away from its more potent products and again these products are expensive its popular la la retro for instance is $62 Dr Griffin says there is no reason to spend that kind of money on skin care for your teen yeah stay away from the retinol products especially those are very they can be very hard and it can create the cycle of breakouts and irritation so I'm saying what happened to the Bath & Body Works lotions that we used to use I start using SK care until like I don't know five years yeah I needed that we are just approaching this realm in our house so thank you for that it's what all the parents I feel like are talking we're all talking about it
