(Laliga 2023/2024): Highlights ALAVÉS - VILLARREAL

In the stands, let's hope there's going to be lots of fun on the field as well. As the players head out now to Mendizorroza. A wonderful stadium, by no means the biggest in La Liga. From Cuenca to Baena, back to Cuenca. Decent cross, Gerard Moreno with the first effort on goal. He's gathered by, for the first time from Alaves, Sola. Samu in the middle, Samu couldn't connect cleanly. Corridi on the follow-up, turning and hitting the post. And then offside against Sola. Well, two chances. And he's got the ball now, he might want to strike it. Loves to shoot from that kind of position and Baena over the bar. Well, he got that shot away cleanly in the end. Rioja didn't want to shoot on his right. Guevara does save. Sola saved again. Sola still in there. Have we not had an opening goal in this game? It's been fabulously entertaining and there's another threat here. On to Rioja who works it on again for Sola. The cross to the far post. Samu heads down and gets the opener. Samu Amororian, they cannot contain him. What a huge future this teenager has. And his present is not bad either. The opening goal in a game... Free kick is allowed to roll to Gerard Moreno. And it's brilliantly cleared off the line by Abdel Abkar. That was heading in and there's an inquest immediately in the Alaves defence. How did we allow that? Going on there as Cuenca battles for position. It reaches him and he scores! Cuenca with the leveller. A fine header from the corner. And Villarreal back on level terms. He had to jostle away just to stay on his feet under all sorts of physical pressure. It's Blanco who continues his run now as Sola drives it in. On to the chest of Jorgensen. Villarreal to break. Elias. For Gerard Moreno. Deflection and just wide. When that ball looped up off the half block. Elias again will have another run at Xavi Lopez. Speeds away from him into the area. Sola! Good save by Severa. He didn't have long to see that because it was well hit. The cross is a good one. Vicente! Oh, he should have scored with his first touch. He should have scored with a free header. He's been on the field for about a minute as far as Haji. Plenty in the middle. Haji for Samu who gets under it. And swipes it over the crossbar. Less so after the break. But it looks like both coaches are reasonably satisfied with the outcome. It's a second consecutive draw for Villarreal. Another goal for Samu Amorodi.
