the new MLB Nike jerseys have been the
biggest talk of spring training as
things get going and oh my God is this
bad so many of the players seem to not
like them and maybe even hate them the
fans hate them think they look cheap
some players have publicly said the same
thing with Trey Turner echoing the title
I had for the last video I made on this
topic literally saying that everyone
hates them of course referring to the
new jerseys shout out to writer Steven J
Nesbit of the athletic who dropped a big
article on all this with the help of a
couple other writers Patrick Mooney and
C Tran Rose crans that has tons of info
just how chaotic this jersey situation
really is despite spring training just
barely getting underway everything is
burning the sky is falling let's just
say this hasn't been the smoothest
transition to the new jerseys from the
previous ones and things have gotten to
a point where the MLB players
Association is now getting involved in
voicing their concern with how this is
going the entire new wardrobe isn't
beloved by any means specifically the
pants in the absolute wildest way
possible really quick make sure to hit
that subscribe button if you enjoy the
videos and haven't already and hit the
bell for post notifications to keep up
to date with everything thank you the
Players Association which is led by Tony
Clark has been hearing many complaints
throughout the league I mentioned in the
last video about this how there were
several players who actually praised the
jerseys but we should probably stop
realize and think about at least for a
minute that those players are sponsored
by Nike so I think the more honest
answer is they're not liked according to
Clark there are teams that have pants in
jerseys and there are some teams that
don't have pants there are other teams
that are supposed to be receiving
certain things before the start of the
year with Clark also adding that there
are other teams that in the event they
have an issue with the pants and a
player needs a new pair don't have
anything in reserve of course Rob
Manford defended the new uniform last
week saying that Nike has a good track
record and also saying that they're
going to be really popular once people
wear them for a little bit but that's
not true that hasn't been happening it
hasn't been the case players and coaches
are still wearing the old pants in this
article by nezbit he reports that an
unnamed National League star has so far
refused to wear the new pants an unnamed
American League League Star had a
Goldilocks experience in his fitting
meaning it was too tight in one spot too
loose in another spot and just right in
a third spot an unnamed coach tried on
the new Nike uniform on the first day of
workouts then went home immediately
afterward and found an old pair that
he's worn since another unnamed player
who wears stir-ups complained that he
could choose his pants cut high or low
but nothing in between an unnamed team
received just one set of the new Nike
pants on Wednesday a set that they
coincidentally needed to wear for
official photo day the customization for
the players is just extrem ex limited
now there's not as much to work with to
make it fit perfectly for the individual
player up until now players were fitted
early in spring training and could
request all sorts of customization and
they'd received the final tailored
product a few weeks before opening day
now according to multiple players who've
recently been fitted requests to take
the fabric in an inch on the thigh or
the bicep are rejected instead players
are sorted by four body types based on
body scanning of 300 plus players Nike
and Fanatics conducted last spring and
given three options a Slimmer regular
and baggier fit with five different pant
openings Nike will adjust sleeve and
pant length but not taller specific
areas Padre's pitcher Joe Musgrove who
pitched yesterday wore last year's pants
while doing so and although he wasn't
completely exstatic over the new pants
he also made it clear that it's not the
biggest deal at the end of the day and
that they've got to just deal with it
there's also a concern among players
though that if Nike can't supply enough
pants to match team's current needs the
players won't be able to wear them in
break them in and get comfortable on
them during the weeks leading into the
regular season with another unnamed
player just flat out calling it a
show as much as the top of the uniform
so the Jersey has been criticized for
how it looks in the feel according to
the players pants are apparently the
biggest concern Tony Clark has been
hearing from the players and yeah I
don't blame them it makes sense when you
realize why Nike is absolutely botching
this up like they are really fumbling
the bag here intentional or not the
pants are seethrough and we already have
a prime example of what see-through
baseball pants look like there's a
picture that quickly made its rounds
throughout Twitter of a Padre's player
bending over and well you can see
tight it hurts you know where it hurts
in my di okay I'm not going to show the
picture and it's not even fully for
avoiding possible demonetization
purposes or anything like that it's just
uncomfortable like ah look it's pretty
ridiculous the way this has gone I mean
maybe MLB wants this to attract more
female fans thinking that see-through
pants are something that they would
support are women that perverted though
I mean yes they are not quite like men
can be perverted but they can this is
getting weird the point is what Nike and
Fanatics have done and are currently
doing to these MLB uniforms is just
beyond stupid the fans hate them the
players hate them they're not as
customizable to fit as uniquely well for
each player the pants are seethrough
like this is insane this is madness and
MLB spokesperson did say in a statement
that adjustments are being made to the
jerseys size waist inseam thigh fit in
the the bottom of the pants based on
player requests to reps from Fanatics
Nike and MLB who had been visiting
spring training camps and conducting
uniform fitting and feedback sessions
with players we have more than a month
to figure this crap out and hopefully it
all ends up being fine in the end
although I will admit it's kind of fun
to talk about this and laugh about it
the baseball script writers are
hilarious man they always cook up the
best most chaotic stuff and I can only
imagine where 2024 is headed when
players suddenly having see-through
pants is what we're starting with we
haven't even hit March yet and we
already have players balls being
revealed is the opening act strap in
we're in for a wild baseball season as
always but this has the makings to be an
Oscar winning best picture by far let me
know what you think thank you for
watching and I'll see you soon
