thank you Mr Speaker ladies and
gentlemen House Bill 471 is a addition
to a bill we passed about six years ago
House Bill 399 which was an important
bill for our military families we've got
about
185,000 kids throughout the nation that
are moving due to military orders so in
Kentucky with Fort Campbell and Fort
Knox this is a s uh certainly important
for what we're doing here in Kentucky
and uh this bill simply adds to that and
adds something that the Department of
Defense had noticed and in their study
that they did this last January that
Kentucky has a green for advanced
enrollment and this is uh according to
their support for military connected
students but we do still have a red for
not including two essential elements
that this bill will fix it simply adds
that a specific specification that
military orders can be used to establish
residency for enrollment and that
families don't need to appear in person
to enroll and I want to thank the Eric
Sherman with the Department of Defense
for his help in this and uh this
legislation is something that our
schools are already doing it's just not
in their policy so this would uh help us
as our goal to continue to be the most
military friendly state in the nation
and this will uh enhance that quite a
bit so if uh anyone has any questions
I'll be glad to ask answer them the best
I can and if not I move for p message
