I-95 closures as PennDOT continues work on Penn's Landing CAP project
READ: https://6abc.com/i95-philadelphia-south-closure-penndot/14460290/
hoping it gets done quickly you know
what I mean done and over with commuters
and business owners are dealing with
another round of weekend closures along
I95 pendock crews are now working on the
southbound Lanes near Penn's Landing
until Monday morning Saturday night I'm
Walter Perez the big story in Action
News is a roughly another 31 hours of
detours as the multi-million dollar I95
cap project continues a few weeks ago
you may remember Northbound lanes were
closed between exits 20 and 22 Crews are
working on that same stretch now but on
the southbound side but we're told this
section could be a bit more problematic
action news reporter Brian Gallagher
joins us live from Penn's Landing
tonight with details
Brianna hey Walter yeah crews are hard
at work on these southbound lanes over
here behind me that have been closed you
can hear them you can see them these
southbound Lanes have been officially
closed since around 5:00 this evening
official say this demolition is a little
bit trickier than the one that closed
the Northbound Lanes a few weeks ago
that's because Cru have less room for
equipment to remove all of that
debris drone 6 overhead shows the
construction Crews wasting no time large
excavators ripped apart the concrete
which dropped below to the shuttered
lanes of 95
south the southbound Lanes of I95 will
be closed until Monday morning between
exit 22 the I 676 callow Hill Street
ramp and the mo Street ramp officials
have been warning drivers to prepare for
detours and a lot of traffic this
weekend depending on where you're coming
from I think the backups are going to be
extensive on Columbus Boulevard Ray
Street 6 Street Delaware Avenue even
Aramingo pendot says drivers will be
directed to use alternate routes
including Exit 23 the Gerard Avenue
interchange or exit 22 the callow Hill
Street interchange people who work in
the area are not thrilled about the
closures it's ridiculous because just to
get in and out of the city it's taking
at least over 35 minutes so it's been
hard for us we're a lot of delivery
drivers out here so we're back and forth
constantly so that's holding us up is
just killing us it's also impacting Uber
drivers who will most likely have less
rides this weekend I'm an Uber driver so
going up and down 95 is kind of part of
what I do how will you go about your
weekend a lot of surface streets and
trying to avoid rides probably won take
rides going up the 95 Corridor if I can
avoid it the I95 cap project will
replace and expand the covered area over
95 between Chestnut and Walnut Streets
with a park that is nearly 12 acres the
$329 million project is expected to be
finished by Spring of 28 it's long
overdue uh to have something like that
in Philly end goal is great but
hopefully they can keep to their
timeline now the southbound lanes are
expected to reopen by 5:00 on Monday
morning however officials said if Crews
do not finish what they need to this
weekend they'll be prepared to add
additional closures for now we're live
from pens Landing Brian Gallagher fora
news at 10: on PHL 17 Walter okay

you
