Princess Chelsea - BUS INVADERS Ep. 1884

hi my name is Chelsea Nicole I'm an artist called Princess Chelsea um from New Zealand uh me and my eight friends from New Zealand have flown to do our first EV tour of North America the reason we're doing it is because people wanted us to come I'm kind of a cult artist I'm not super famous but we thought let's just go and do it and so we've been playing 26 shows on the last six weeks and this is our final show in the US in Chicago and this is our van so I'd just like to give you a tour um I believe it's a Chevy like I'm not a car person but I've driven it quite a bit um and it's a it handles very nicely the brakes are a little slow um but I do very much like it and um what we we because there's so many of us we've also hired a trailer over [Music] here a U-Haul trailer so we put all our in there and then we can fit all the people in so let's let's just go and and I introduce you to the people so welcome to the front seat of the van this is where the van is driven um at the moment we have our driver this is monkey hey bro um it's actually a gorilla his name is monkey and um he he's a little bit short so he requires extra cushioning so we have two cushions stacked and also a a book that seems to be the right he uh cuz you've got to be about safety when you're driving a van uh got the neck pillow there for support and as you can see it's just the perfect height and it's everything's in order um and so in the front seat of the van what usually happens is you've got the AC control so it's very important cuz you have back seat AC and you got front seat and so what you're going to get is people at the back being like I'm too hot or I'm too cold can you please put on the heat can you make it cooler so that's very important for the person sitting here that's their job cuz the driver has to focus on driving they can't be like just messing around n and stuff um then also you're also in charge of a stereo which is very important um and I'll get one of the other members to explain some of the games that we've invented involving stereo cuz we've had like 8 plus hour drives and you have to stop yourself from going crazy so um let's just see what we've got here throat care um cough wases uh this is for me to make sure that I can sing um we've got various charges USB a USB you know all the different types of USBS a little speaker here um we've got a cup of cold tea um what else do we got uh we've got another neck pillow this has got like foam kind of stuff it's quite good I like that one um if you need to like clean orifices of your body or whatever or removed makeup um we've got these cotton we call them cotton buds what do you call them in the states know um I've got some packing tape and we've got um some small stretch wrap um this is I actually don't know why this is here um with there's always the half empty water bottle which is good and so um Simeon suggested that we have a roll that a fiz a water bottle that's older than like 45 minutes then it gets turfed so I've been starting to do that otherwise you're not having like 30 half drunk water bottles and it's kind of confusing um oh this is um this is the attitude ofjust stick so um it's actually left over from the previous store but we thought we'd keep it um we haven't had to use it but I assume that you assault someone if they have a bad attitude like like that um so we're going to exit the front I'm going to shut the dog hello sir hello hello and we're going to go into row number two row number two is where we like to um eat a lot of popcorn so there's like a lot of popcorn here which is cool um but that's what this is for um just had time Le to do it but I like to get in and like give it a good old clean and up these n see like and popcorn it's just so [Music] satisfying it just it feels really good like if you're having a hard day get down here and do this you're making a real tangible change um actually the area so here we have beautiful Jasmine bber and Kate Tindle larm uh to very everyone's a key member of the band um you we actually rotate where we sit cuz we don't like to have everyone sit in the same spot all the time so um at the moment these um Queens are sitting in in the front row so um what do you what do you think are the benefits and also like the challenges of this row you go oh this is a benefit it's a cup holder so sometimes sometimes you might get a can of water and you don't want to drink a whole can all at once cans of water in the US or coffees Jasmine's not very good at drinking a l coffee are you so we this is a prime piece real estate here a cup holder only this only the front two rows of cup holders Joe is actually still housing a a coffee of mine from this morning that I refused to finish all right um now as we head towards the second row um this area of the van is quite contentious um so basically I'm I'm I'm a very clean person right so like um so on the second row here you can meet our sound engineer this is one of New Zealand's most talented life sound Engineers Bob Frisbee and also wonderful Keys player Joe capan um Bob do you want to explain the situation is it's it's your thing so one of the benefits of sitting in this row which is what is this the third row yeah guess let's call it the third row is access to this linal space which uh some of us refer to as the rubber stro TR sure or just the trough actually it's just being short the and I really don't like the idea of it like cuz I like to contain rubbish inside a bag whereas Bob what do you think Bob you know I can demonstrate actually what everybody house apart from Chelsea how how how to use the rubber St yeah I do actually I have Jasmine B's leftover coffee cup from which we took from the second row Prime real estate cuper cup holder and very satisfying sound when you throw some rubbish into the rubbish trough and that just does my head in and I'm often sitting there and he knows I hate it and he'll just be like chelse Chelsea listen to verse and then you'll and then you'll do this we listen to the frequency of the cup heading the trough FL I can't handle a day I'm just like more there's more yeah there's more so oh got oh God yeah I just think you got to have standards and like when you pull into a town we're representing our country Al roller and we pull into a town we open up a door and all this falls out well it doesn't fall out because okay it tends not to fall out because there's actually one extra step literally an extra step that to the rubbish drop so if we close the door again and to stop the rubbish from falling out this happens so now you'll observe that when you open the door see stopped look at you see what I mean this is why you can't have a truck it's disgusting okay so we got here the fourth row um we've got Joshua worington church and we've got David Harris hello um and uh I thought maybe you guys first of all what are the benefits of this row and the challenges uh well we don't have a cup holder don't have a cup holder challeng I guess yeah yeah cuz like you have to drink your entire beidge open it drink it right there there and then you got to pee and we're driving for hours and hours that's that's tough yeah um benefits I don't know you don't these ones are better they've got they've got cup holders and what there is no real distinct advantage to the seat I re it's an advantage for speakers it's true actually we can fade the speakers to the and when we do that we get pretty good sound that that's a benefit it's always good to look on the positive side um so we've got some long drives as I said like we've had some 8 plus hour drives we've literally driven from the west coast of the US to the east um how many days did we do that in three oh I have no idea it was a long time and so like we've made up a few van games so do you guys want to explain we've got who song Is It Anyway and Baker dozen so we make up Bakers Dozen I I am actually not I think probably not the historian I think it may be luke Rowell from Wellington New Zealand whose artist name is disaster radio great um but Baker dozen is fairly simple you just pick one song and listen to it 13 times in a row um with no gaps and that's fun usually um you you sort of that process uh you learn a lot about the song hopefully or you don't and you have a really miserable time but generally you'll pick up on things by the sort of 7th or eighth Lesson by Lesson 12 you're really unraveling the threads of of uh the whatever piece you've chosen what sort of songs do we usually choose for Baker's Des um I feel like it's we should just listen yeah so on this tour we've done what was that what was that Bo oh yeah Ving busing bus what what was the Natasha be field one you Unwritten bding field um we did Fast Times in Tahoe which is a New Zealand band Elementor Peas song and recently we did uh oh Bliss which is another kiwi band the dudes and Sweet Child of Mine B Guns and Roses yeah that was just last night actually we quite often do on the night drives um because you got to sort of stay peepy and we're all rocked up after a show so yeah so it's really fun and um and David do you want to explain whose song is in anyway that's a bit more complicated but you're smart El okay so whose song is it Anyway is where each member in the van uh formulates a small playlist of three to five songs and they send that playlist to one person who is the game master who compiles a Spotify playlist of all of these songs and then we hit Shuffle and they start playing and as each song starts playing we have to guess whose song it is who chose the song so maybe like Natasha bingfield comes on and everyone's like I think it's Joe it's Joe it's Joe or I think it's Jasmine pretending be Joe or I think it's Joshua and then you and then and then you write down who you think it is and then scoring system the scoring system okay so if no one guesses that it was your song and you get away with it you get two points um if you guess the right if you guess that Joe picked Natasha bingfield you get one point if no one guesses that Joe pick Natasha bingfield Joe gets two points and if everyone guesses Joe Joe loses one point yeah so like it's a it's very psychological so like you it's very fun and that game can last for like two 2 hours and it's it's very fun um so that's a game that we formulated together on the road um and now we're introducing it to you for anyone that has to have the long drives um whose song is it anyway um and then I guess we got one more row okay cool I'll just dust up some stuff as I go all right oh okay so I'm just going to get down here so this is our tour manager hza he does a lot of the driving and organizing but he's currently asleep um so we'll just leave him sleeping I think it's probably the best um Che just to see he's out he's out so we'll just we'll move on um the back row here in the very back we've got simey and Kevin of Vincent um hi s hey hey um do you want to talk about what you reckon are the what think about this row cuz you've sat back here with me a little bit I've been back here a lot uh underrated row yeah I underrated not without its challenges in fact the seat the seat hza has I reckon is the most underrated seat it's the only seat where you get like unrestricted leg room but also somewhere to rest your head huge this is huge when you're in a fan like you can have a neck pillow but if you've got nothing to sort of secure the head yes yeah yeah normally you have to pick one or the other but with that with that seat you get both yeah and a lot of you are quite tall like you're a tall person you're a tall person you need that leg room yeah yeah yeah um anything else about the B it's a bit wider uh the air conditioning doesn't quite reach back here so it's really hot in this row and no matter what it's really hot and the speakers are literally right there so uh if you're in like Row one or two you can't really hear the music so you ask for it to be turned up and then you're at the back and all you can hear is the music and you ask for it to be turned down down and it's kind of a bit of a back and forth drink it's your job to go digging in the bo mid Drive yeah if we can just air the dirty laundry right now people have a habit of waiting until we get back in the car after the gas station and then asking for the bottles of water that are right at the back at the bottom of the boot we sto for 10 minutes and then we wait until we're back on the road uh hey can I get a bottle of water over now yeah I know what you mean it's hard yeah but like honestly like we're such good friends all of us that we've been in this fan for 6 weeks and I think we've come out of better friends than before um so it's honestly it's such such a joy to be in this van with you all I reckon so thanks again for watching our van tour um just a summarize um we're I'm princess Chelsea this is we've got a a van full of an amazing band we need to come up with a good name for the band at the moment it's princess Chelsea and friends um and this is where I'm meant to promote myself so
