(music) Text: This Week at Justice March 8, 2024
AG Garland: Ensuring the protection of law for all of our country’s citizens has been the responsibility
of every generation in our country’s history Today, it is our responsibility.
It is the responsibility of the Department of Justice.
It is my responsibility as Attorney General.
It is the responsibility of every American.
We must protect each other.
DAG Monaco: Every day, we’re working to ensure the Department of Justice lives up to its promise to the
American people.
Whether we're deploying old school methods like flipping cooperators or responding to
the newest game-changing technology, the women and men of the Justice Department will be
unrelenting in our work to enforce our laws, the laws that protect jobs, guard savings,
and maintain faith in our economic system.
AG Garland: Today, the Departments of Justice and the Interior released our joint response to the
Not Invisible Act Commission’s recommendations on responding to these crises.
We recognize that more must be done across the federal government to put to the end these
tragedies.
And to help Tribal communities heal.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to this work.
AAG Olsen: By knowingly and improperly posting classified national defense information on social media
platforms, Mr. Teixeira enabled hundreds hundreds of members of his online chat groups, including
individuals it was clear to him were located overseas, to further disseminate national
defense information across the internet.
AG Garland: The right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy,
and the right from which all other rights flow.
It is a right that members of this community bled for.
AAG Clarke: Selma reminds us that the actions taken by those courageous men and women – those foot
soldiers for justice – who marched, bled and died to secure the right to vote, their
efforts were not in vain.
