Superman's vulnerability to magic has long been established, but DC recently disclosed that this weakness also encompasses Superman's inability to employ magic without significant drawbacks.
Throughout the comics, Superman has always been weak to magic without any explanation
of why.
However, today on Screen Rant, DC has finally explained why that weakness exists and exactly
what happens if Superman tries to venture into the magical world.
Superman's inability to use magic is common across stories about the Man of Steel.
Some stories showcase Superman can't use magic because he's not homo magi, and this
argument has only gotten stronger.
In Action Comics 1063, Superman's body ends up under the control of Bizarro, but weirdly,
while Bizarro has control of his body, Superman has gained access to Bizarro's mind and
aptitude for magic.
With these quote-unquote new powers, Superman works to undo Bizarro's spell where we learn
the truth about Superman's weakness.
You see, according to a same Bizarro version of the Joker, the Man of Steel's body just
can't handle magic without it taking a massive toll on his body, regardless of whether he
gained the aptitude for it or not.
It's quite strange to think about as Superman has been known to learn anything he sets his
mind to.
For example, he quickly ran to learn about surgery and then performed it.
He understands every language on the planet.
But it seems that Superman's body rejects magic on a fundamental level, and that thought
is less theory and more fact, especially when you consider that Bizarro, who is Superman's
opposite in every way, can use magic.
Overall, this just seems to be an aspect of Superman's character that is baked into the
framework of the Man of Steel, and it may never change.
That's our time journeying into the world of magic.
Thank you for watching us today on Screen Rant, and until next time, happy watching.
