Leaving the Netherlands and Europe, time to drop off our motorcycle Atlas at papa Bob. We do one last mechanics session and he drops me off the Airport the day after. From there I spend the next 24h flying to India on three different flights. Eventually I arrive at Mumbai airport where an interesting India and Asia chapter will begin. This is not the end of the ride but some changes are coming.
Good day peoples! Here from a place where the weather has been absolutely dreadful
for the past two weeks. So that means it's winter in the Netherlands. And today we're on way
familiar place. A place where this old girl comes from. A place where other daddy lives.
Just north of the tip of Brussels. Alice is going home. Welcome to Bellevue.
That means of course back at the house of the wonderful Papa Bob. Hey hey forgive me daddy Bob
I did not bring the good weather. No you didn't.
It's quite all right or are you wet wet? No it started the last 10 minutes. Yeah I came in
in between because it was raining before then I came in between then it started raining again. So
I just made it dry relatively mostly. You travel light. Oh yeah Bob I'll show you I'll show you
later. It's all in there. How's it going with me? Let me take this thing off man. Here we are.
I'm amazed you you're going to beep beep and it's all in. I can't say it yet I have to bleep it.
We're building it up. We're building it up Bob. Is there something filming? Yeah it is.
Yeah now I don't know what to say.
Easy man.
All right unpacking. This is all I've got with me.
Is that your just breakfast? Before this time around I was packing stuff and normally I'll
just chuck it in in the top box and really push it down and now I even have to go lighter. More
on that later. Yeah. Well Bob to you uh the honor of starting this off. Okay. Chuck a 24 on there.
You're right it's a 24. A little bit of elbow grease.
Yeah Bob still got that got that got that older man strength.
See in this one is it 13 or 14? Uh the small one is uh yeah no 14. The big one is 14. I hate 14.
I like 14. I hate it. How come? Do you confuse it with 13? You know in Europe we use only a few
sizes. 10, 13, 17. I don't mind 13. And everything that comes between is like. Well at least if
they're not like what I can say about the Honda at least they're not putting an 11 on there or a
9 or you know. 8. 8 smallest I think. Yes. At its smallest. 8 is acceptable. But then in the other
video you mentioned that the Japanese Philips. The jizz. Is a different. I learned the jizz.
Not the Honda screw. It's a Japanese industrial standard.
Oh so um Atlas celebrated its 90th birthday. Yeah and it's it's missing about at least
1,200 because of issues with speedo cables in the past and uh before I could get a new uh
plastic worm wheel. Oh yes. In there. So it's missing about 1,200. So it's actually at 94,500.
So it's about. It's almost a centennial. It's getting close. So ever since the day I had the
pleasure and honor of riding away with her three years ago. I think we might have put. 25. I might
have put 25,000 to 30,000. Yeah. Yeah. It was around 70,000 right? No no it was 65. Oh I'll
put it down exactly when we started. I gotta re-watch some old videos and have a peek at the
speedo.
There we go. Easy as that hey? And this is the chain guard unfortunately. The custom work. Custom.
Yeah. Yeah. That's a shame. Who made it? Was it Tmago or? No it was it was Joffy. Italian guy and I
cut some uh from his his design. He's on Instagram if you want to find him.
Joffy. G-E-O-F-F-E I think. But then I wrote uh I cut the transatlas in there remember.
And filed it out. I drilled it. I drilled it and then used the file. It's not done with a laser.
No no this was a work of serious love. And I was thinking about Bob the whole time. So it's like
that's that one hurt. With the pet side project here. Still living the dream here Bob. Another
thing I hate is the smell of stale gasoline. Ah and the carbs. It has been smelling here for two
weeks. Come get rid of it. There you go. Beauty. And you don't have to go crazy with tightness.
Take that one off. Shall I um try to find the other? Yeah. Did you all leave it in the same box?
The one I sent. Oh there she is. There's the box. Oh that's the one that topped
for a long time. My most expensive box in the mail was the box of
parts from stuff from New Zealand. And then this box just from Portugal to Belgium.
Oh look at that. All the atlas. Souvenirs. Yeah. Springs. Some very soft springs if you want.
Another. Yeah. Hand guard. Oh and the bar the the bar bustles. The old clutch. The barbusters
absolutely did the business. Were worth the investment. Oh boy. Hey look at that. Hey there's the
an original. Uh normally I would say nah but compared to this. Big oof. This will do then.
It's not too bad. But I'll keep that as a template to make a new one.
I don't know. Yeah well is it a template? We'll sort it out. Wait we'll we'll enter in contact.
Is that is that English still? We'll uh I'll contact I'll contact Mr. Jaffe one day.
And we'll go for a round two. Okay. I've got my grandson coming. Hey Cooper.
Check it out. It's Mini Cooper again. Mini Cooper.
Yeah. Yeah he's uh he's a biker but he doesn't know yet. Yeah that's it. Yeah.
It's still the old school. Well that's that's going to be too short. Let's see.
Because the squeeze is okay. No this is fine. Oh. Maybe uh a larger washer. But it's a spring. Yeah.
Before it was a spring washer. Maybe you can have a regular washer. Yeah I'll have a regular.
And some lock and I definitely recommend some Loctite on this one. These ones will fall out.
Yeah. Nice. So a little spruce up. So Atlas is going back into the very capable and loving hands
of Papa Bob here. Yeah. And some outside. It's a bit busy in the garage because we're off uh
on a different chapter. And uh it's still quite a special and humbling experience that for the last
couple of years Papa Bob helped me and us out on our chapter here. And I've said it too many times
already. But thanks again. My pleasure. Bob. It's a wonderful experience for me too. And he knows that
once I'm back again whenever that is. That he'll find me riding that all too familiar uh
trans Atlas. Hasta luego. I'll see you in the morning. I'll tell you more what what's going on.
Are we getting emotional? No. Let's keep let's keep the waterworks in for now. Sleep on it.
So uh I've I've expanded Bob's Pedromoto jacket collection with another one. This one is still
here. The one I sent with the parts from Portugal. Now the other one goes there uh while I'm away.
Gotta drop my pants. And the helmet. And the helmet. So um whoever wants to come and visit
the museum is open from 8 to 12. There you go. Pedromoto Museum in Belgium. Come see.
Good morning. And Atlas. And goodbye Atlas. We had some good fun didn't we? We had some good fun
didn't we? If it was up to Bob he said take her to the far corners of the world if you will.
Took her for a bit of a ride. Not the far end corners of the world. So uh Bob's going to uh
take me this morning to uh the Zaventem airport. Right let's go. Hey dog. I'll see you soon enough
again. This is all I'm bringing this time around. No handy top box. It's all in here. Let's go.
Oh man. We're gonna go in uh Bob's expedition. Whoa look at that. Iceland expedition mobile.
There we go. Cherokee. Nice ride Bob. Hey. We stay in the same era of uh Atlas. Yeah.
Oh weather's getting foul. Better get out of get out of Belgium. Europe. For that matter yeah.
See you Atlas. Thanks for the ride.
Have fun with this beast in Iceland. Bye bye. And thanks again for everything man.
See you. Take care. Enjoy. Take it easy and have the best of it too. Don't go too crazy but a
little bit it's okay. Oh yeah. A bit is okay. You too man. You'll hear you'll hear about me.
Stay safe. I'll see you online my man.
There goes the legend Bob. And we're off on our own little expedition.
It's boarding time to Istanbul at the moment.
What a prediction. Slightly cloudy with some rain. A bumpy launch but then clear blue skies
flying east. Pretty hyped. Oh it's still fresh in Istanbul. It's about the same temperature.
But we were only in Istanbul for a quick airport dinner.
And it's actually just as cold here as back in the Netherlands. Yes how are you? How's it going
mate? Have a good flight. To Riyadh. We're taking the same flight to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. It's
the first time we were in Istanbul. I drove past here. This is just on the Asian side of the land
mass. I drove past here in 2014. In the early stages of that big trip all the way to Japan.
This time we just flew here. It's faster. Now we're going to be famous now. Already making
friends here man. From Sweden. Nice to meet you guys. Nice to meet you bro. I just happened to
mention I was going to the Middle East for the first time and then I said no. I've already been
to Iraq and they said our roots are in Iraq. So we've been talking. I'm so afraid of flying
mate. You don't understand. Relax. Most of the time it's okay. Yeah I hope man. I hope that. Inshallah.
That's my motorcycle channel but that's the only one right now. But in the future I'm making
another one. Perfect. Thank you. Have a nice day. Thank you very much. Thank you. Good to see you.
So here we have arrived in Saudi Arabia on a four-hour flight which was supposed to be
my sleep flight. This is flight two out of three. I got no sleep. Probably like
three in the morning here now. Now we're going to wait till 6 30 in the morning.
The last and final flight. So let's enjoy a night here in Riyadh. What's up guys. We're here in
Riyadh I think. Yeah. 5 in the morning bro and we just came on an airplane with seats like
like this. It was going to be my sleeper plane for four hours. No. Four hours I did not close. I
only closed my eyes. Did you guys fall asleep? No. I only closed my eyes. And now we're waiting
for someone named Habibi. Habibi. He took our everything. Our names and everything. He should
come with boarding passes hopefully. Yeah yeah. And this is I will show you my drip check.
Quarter past six. Final flight. Last dash. And hopefully a couple of hours of sleep.
I'm the first one in. It was a bit of a waiting game with boarding passes if we'd get them but
I had trust in Habibi that sorted them all out. Here we go 23. F by the window. Yes it is. Let's
get some sleep. This is what the ruckus is. Bye. Today is the final flight and it's hot where we
are now. So after 24 hours almost. Three flights hopping around. We made it to a very different
part of the world. Which at one stage I'll tell more about it. But right now I'm starting something
which I don't know how I'm gonna do it yet. But I think it should make for
some interesting experiences. So let's get out there and see what's going to happen on these
new travels. People have mentioned to me in the past come to India bro. Well here we are.
