First, let's welcome Xuefeng.
My name is Wang Xuefeng.
Xue means to learn, and feng means mountain.
Actually, when my dad gave me this name,
it gave me a higher level of learning,
which is to reach the peak.
Later, I will have a new definition of my name,
which is to learn all the knowledge that the mountain can give me.
Because I think that many times,
in college, you only learn the theoretical knowledge.
But every time I climb a mountain,
I will feel something different.
So I am Xuefeng, Xuewuzhijing,
learn what the mountain can give me.
Xuewuzhijing, climb the peak forever?
Actually, when you were very young,
you were already far from the peak.
We also know that in May 2019,
you climbed Mount Everest.
How many times have you climbed it?
Strictly speaking,
this is my first time climbing Mount Everest.
But this is not my first time climbing Mount Everest.
The first time I climbed Mount Everest
was when I was in the second semester of college.
There was a reality show on Beijing TV called Growing Up.
It was about a group of 18-year-old children.
They went to the camp of Zhufeng Camp
and lived there for two weeks.
Then they climbed to 7028.
At that time, I was an assistant.
I was interested in working with such a big crew.
At that time, I watched the sunset and sunrise of Zhufeng every day.
It was very beautiful.
I met a lot of climbers from all over the world in the camp.
I think they are very, very good.
And they are very strong.
I think I'm too different from them.
At that time, Zhufeng was a very, very far mountain, a goal.
I may have some thoughts in my heart,
but I won't think about it.
It's pretty quiet.
Was climbing Zhufeng your dream at that time?
Or did you just think it was a great achievement to be able to climb Zhufeng?
Or did you want to achieve it yourself?
Yes, climbing Zhufeng.
I think it may be a wish of self-fulfillment.
And with other things in society,
including a life in my heart.
I don't have any other interests.
When you climbed Zhufeng in 2019,
you were the youngest Chinese climber this year.
Yes, I've been preparing for two or three years.
This seed has been sprouting.
Since my first climbing,
it may be destined to be my goal.
Because as a climber,
I think I have a dream of Zhufeng in my heart.
What efforts have you made in the past three years?
Because we know that you are not only a climber this time,
but also climbed Zhufeng as an extreme photographer.
And it went well.
Yes.
To be honest, it has something to do with my university studies.
Because I went to Zhuhai branch school of Shifan University in Beijing to study.
I chose an outdoor sports major.
I learned photography from the first year of college.
Then I borrowed a bicycle during the summer vacation.
And I bought a two-handed single-handed camera.
Then I rode all the way.
I learned photography day by day.
Then I took great photos in Lhasa.
I think it's good.
Then I cooperated with some outdoor companies
to shoot some high-altitude mountaineering activities.
At that time, I learned that photography was not the same as photography.
I found that the charm of photography was greater.
Then I kept reading books, studying composition, and shooting skills.
Gradually, I improved my ability to shoot at high altitude.
So I climbed many 5,000 to 6,000 meters of mountains during my college years.
For example, Haba Snow Mountain in Yunnan,
Dafeng, Erfeng, Namafeng,
Quershan, and Yuzhufeng.
I climbed Yuzhufeng when I was in the third year of college.
So last year, in order to climb Zhufeng,
I had to give myself a hint or recognition of my ability.
I had to climb a 7,000-meter mountain.
Which is more difficult for you, mountaineering or limited photography?
Maybe shooting is more difficult.
Shooting is more difficult.
When you are at high altitude,
you have to think about how to take a good picture of this person,
how to take a good picture of this scenery,
and the composition.
Did the whole climbing process go well this time?
Did anything happen in the middle?
There were many small twists and turns in the middle.
For example, there was a problem with my oxygen mask.
This will lead to whether I can successfully reach the top.
At first, I walked very fast.
I have to go to the top and shoot the people below,
shoot their state of climbing.
Then, as a photographer,
I must be faster.
The speed of the team members is faster.
After passing them,
the route will shake more and more.
The oxygen consumption is also very large.
At that time, I found that my oxygen mask
suddenly couldn't breathe.
The oxygen that can't be inhaled may lead to suffocation.
I have never experienced it.
Because the air can't be inhaled,
I feel uncomfortable all over.
I feel very uncomfortable.
Do you remember how far it was from the top of the mountain?
At that time, it was probably 8300 meters.
I was not used to the oxygen mask for the first time.
For you,
when the oxygen mask appeared at 8300 meters,
was it more difficult to go up or down?
It was more difficult to go up.
When I went down to a low altitude,
my body was slowly getting better.
But the more I went up, the more I was exhausted.
Later, I took off my oxygen mask.
I breathed in the air outside.
I felt so good.
I'm so tired.
I didn't feel that fast.
But after a while,
I found that the air outside made me feel uncomfortable.
I took it off and put it on again.
Such frequent operations
made my body weak.
I was very tired and sleepy.
I felt that a lot of my teammates were in front of me.
There was even an Indian
who was behind me every time I pulled the chain.
When I saw him walking in front of me,
I couldn't help it.
I had a clear mind,
but I couldn't keep up with my pace.
What were you thinking at that time?
I must be safe.
Safety is the most important thing.
So when I set off,
when I was 100 meters away from C4 camp,
when I saw a body,
I would give myself some psychological hints.
I said,
it's not so important to be on top.
I still have a long way to go.
I can't be on top this year.
I still have time to do it next year.
If I really stay here
it may not be worth it for the rest of my life.
So when I reached 7500 meters,
I even told my guide three times
that I wanted to get off.
By the last time,
I had already seen the peak.
At that time,
as a normal person,
it was very difficult
It was hard to choose.
Before I reached the peak,
the last bottle of oxygen had been used up.
I said,
I want to get off.
This oxygen is enough for me to reach the top.
It's not enough for me to go back.
I don't want to stay on top.
At that time,
he made a very difficult decision.
It was a great decision.
He gave me his oxygen mask.
Because it's very dangerous.
If you climb the peak
and your body is slowly adapting,
it may be OK.
But suddenly,
from a state of oxygen,
a very comfortable state,
to a state of no oxygen,
your body may not be able to adapt at once.
You may die if you can't breathe.
What did he do?
After he gave you the oxygen mask,
his ability to climb the peak was stronger than ours.
And Xia Erba himself
is very good at climbing.
So after he had a problem with his oxygen mask,
he fell off the peak.
At that time,
I was sweating for him.
I said,
can you be safe?
Because it's really dangerous to lose oxygen.
You climbed the peak as an extreme photographer
and successfully climbed the peak.
What are you more focused on this time?
In fact,
the main purpose of this shooting
is to make a film for the club of this expedition company.
Because they gave me a relatively low price,
I had a chance to climb such a mountain.
Otherwise,
I couldn't accept this price at this age.
Is your whole shooting going well?
I can only say that
I have completed this shooting task.
There will be some small gaps in the middle.
For example,
when I climbed the peak,
I imagined that
I would take pictures of the members' happiness and emotions.
In a bad environment,
how did they adjust their physical condition
to reach the peak?
But after I reached the peak,
my physical condition was very bad.
My legs were shaking.
My whole body was shaking.
And my camera
was about 40 degrees below zero when I reached the peak.
When I took out my camera,
the moment I pressed the shutter,
there was no electricity.
But I also have a backup camera.
When I took it out,
I was still hanging one by one.
I almost didn't take a picture of the top of my lamp.
You still have regrets about this shooting.
As a post-90s,
you can say that you are a new generation of climbers.
And you successfully climbed the peak.
This is also the realization of your dream.
In fact, in the process of your shooting,
you also want to record
the people who climbed the peak like you.
They are in the process of realizing their dreams.
It can be said that
in order to realize their dreams,
when they climbed the peak step by step,
the efforts they made
and their real state during the climbing process
can be transmitted through your film.
If your camera still had electricity at that moment,
what would you record
and what would you like to express?
To be honest,
I never thought I would record myself.
Because I am a photographer,
I have to shoot other people.
But if I really have to record,
I want to thank my family.
First of all, I want to thank my family.
They also made a big compromise
for me to climb the peak.
Because sometimes they don't approve of my work.
It's dangerous.
But after I climbed the peak,
they think that
I did it.
It's amazing.
Then I want to thank
the boss who allowed me to climb the peak.
He is like my big brother.
He takes care of me.
He doesn't care about my interests.
He just wants me to do it.
He told me before I climbed the peak
that I have to take care of my safety.
It doesn't matter if I climb the peak.
I have to do it well.
I was very touched.
Because I am a photographer,
I have to work.
But he said that
I don't have to take pictures.
Safety comes first.
Then I want to thank my sponsors
and those who support me.
If it wasn't for them,
I wouldn't have climbed the peak this year.
If I didn't climb the peak this year,
I wouldn't have had a chance
