Hey what's up everyone Kevin here. Today I'm up snowboarding in the Mammoth Terrain Park
and in this video I've got some tips for doing backside 180s.
One of the most important things for a back 180 is the twist. So as you get to the lip
and you're popping you look back up so that you can twist your board underneath you. So as I was
twisting there I was looking back and then I could turn my board underneath. You can practice this
riding on the snow as well. So like a heel to a toe. It's always really important that when you
pop you're popping straight up into the air. You can practice this on the snow. A heel toe pop
backside 180. So for the backside 180 I'm thinking about my line is going to be a long heel to a toe
turn to the last second. I'm going to pop straight up and then twist my board underneath me.
Pop, twist. So facing your shoulders back. So just practicing on the snow if you face your
shoulders backwards then when you pop you can just twist your board. So a good pop straight
up on the 180 will send you straight up so that you can land also straight down. So we got a nice
little corner bit straight up pop gives me time to get the 180 around. Okay the pop time. Heel toe
pop. For the backside 180 a good pop straight into the air is so important and to set up the pop I
like to do a toe to heel to toe straight up pop and then it gives you loads of time to get that
even on small jumps with a good pop you'll have tons of time. Timing everything together is also
super important for the back 180. So you're coming in at it on your toes pop and then twist and when
you time all that together perfectly that's when you get the perfect back 180. All those things
come together you get the backside 180. So I hope these tips will help you guys learning back 180s.
