Hello everyone. Welcome back to the channel, Healthy Clicks.
Today, I will talk about the foods rich in antioxidants. Before we discuss about the
foods rich in antioxidants, let's see why eating these foods are important for our body.
Our body naturally produces free radicals, but their production can be increased by the factors
like cigarette smoking, alcohol, air pollution, and fast foods. When these free radicals accumulate,
they cause oxidative stress and increase the risk of cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's dementia,
and diabetes. But, do not be stressed too much by the above words. Our body has its own defense
mechanism and can produce antioxidants to fight the free radicals. In addition, we can eat the
foods rich in antioxidants to increase antioxidant level in our body and fight these free radicals.
Nowadays, the factors which can increase free radicals in our body is increasing,
so it is important to consume high antioxidant foods.
So, let's check the best foods rich in antioxidants without further ado.
Number 1. Apple. Okay. Let's start with my favorite fruit,
apple. Apples are rich in polyphenols called, Procyanidin B2, and Epicatechin. They also
contains Vitamin E, and Selenium. In fact, red apples contain more antioxidants than other

peels are richer in antioxidants than the flesh, but also they are rich in fibers, which is also
good for your health. Number 2. Dark chocolate.
Good news for those who love eating chocolate. Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants,

anti-carcinogenic, and anti-inflammatory properties. They can also reduce the risk of
Alzheimer's disease. But, don't forget to choose a good quality dark chocolate with high cocoa
content. To be fair, high quality dark chocolate contains higher antioxidants than blueberries.
Dark chocolate is also well known for lowering the risk of heart disease. It increases HDL or
good cholesterol, and decreases LDL or bad cholesterol. One study shows, consuming high
quality dark chocolate, can lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

One of the foods with the highest concentration of antioxidants is blueberries. The fruit's skin
contains anthocyanins, which give blueberries, their distinctive blue color. The anthocyanin

better vision, lower blood pressure, and reduced risk of diabetes, and heart disease.
Antioxidants included in blueberries may also prevent the age-related deterioration
in cognitive function. Number 4. Strawberries.
The antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals in strawberries are abundant. The antioxidant

cholesterol, anthocyanin can lower LDL cholesterol levels, and also aid in the prevention of heart
disease. Strawberries are rich in vitamin C, vitamin E, and manganese too.

Grapes, especially purple and red ones, contain antioxidants, and vitamin C. The antioxidants,
anthocyanin and proanthocyanin, which are found in grapes, may help against cancer,

Dried plums, commonly known as prunes, are a great source of the antioxidant, polyphenols.

inflammation. Vitamin C is helpful in avoiding colds, and some chronic disorders in addition
to having antioxidant properties. Number 10. Spinach.
