Good morning and welcome to our tiny house in the countryside.
So, this weekend we are in the Yorkshire Dales, known as God's Own Country. You might
not know but my family are actually from Yorkshire. My mum's side from the Yorkshire Dales and
it is absolutely beautiful. The most tranquil, peaceful part of England in my opinion. And
house in North Yorkshire. We are about 10 minutes from Skipton and it's absolutely beautiful. We
drove up last night. It was pouring down. We made a pit stop at McDonald's, got our coffee and then
drove up to the nearest village. There's a place called Embassy. Last night we had this gorgeous
log burner that was lit for us by the wonderful host and we tried and failed at roasting marshmallows
but we gave it a go. We'll try again tonight. Anyway, I want to just quickly show you around.
So, we have this is the beautiful kitchen area. Pardon the, you know, it's a little bit messy. We
thought you'd need like a big kitchen but you really, really don't. That is perfect. In here,
we have the bathroom. Voila. Bathroom sink and there's also a shower which is amazing. Oops,
just dropped my towel there. So yeah, that's the bathroom. We've got our own private bathroom. A
lot of shepherds huts you'll probably want to check. A lot of tiny homes or tiny houses have
a bathroom that's separate which we didn't really want. So that's perfect. This is the
bedroom section. We have a TV which is a huge luxury. Not many of these tiny houses have got
a TV. The view from there is just rolling fields, sheep, our neighbours and then two ducks. There's
a lake up there and we've got two ducks as neighbours. And then this is the log burner
that I've put on. I think, honestly, coming to the countryside and just sitting by the log burner,
reading a book or just looking out at green fields, it feels like you are completely separate
from the rest of the world. It's really, really relaxing. So, loving it so far. And this is
literally all there is to show you of the tiny house tour. If we come outside, this is for us
to make our dinner in the evening. So we've got a barbecue here and then we've got, this is called
a chiminea. So that's just for us to cook dinner. Did you hear that? That's the sheep. These are
our neighbours. This guy's my favourite. My favourite neighbour. I'm going to call him Gus.
Gus the sheep. Hi Gus. So we're on a farm, if you can't tell. Okay, I think he's judging me now,
so I'm going to leave him alone. All right. So, plan for today. We were told not too far
from here, there is like a secret waterfall. We're going to head out and find the secret
waterfall and then we're going to go and find Bolton Abbey, which is about 10 minutes away,
which is amazing. And I think Malham Rocks isn't too far either. That is the plan for now.
But first, coffee. So, Bolton Abbey is a 12th century monastery and it's known as the jewel
in the crown of Yorkshire. It's really popular with families and there's so much to see and do.
There's a tea rooms, there's so many walks and it's full of history. It also inspired
Wordsworth, Ruskin and Turner. They found the landscape around Bolton Abbey, some of the most
inspiring in the whole of Yorkshire. So that's where we're heading now. Bye bye friends. See you
tonight. So, Skipton is a market town. They often have a market on, which is what they've got on
today, a market in the square, but we're here for coffee.
So, we've got a butcher, a baker. Let's find the candle maker.
So, we found our coffee shop, Deep & Filter, which is an independent coffee shop
and Greengrocers. Looks like they've got amazing coffee and homemade cakes.
Let's try the coffee.
Mmm, good coffee. Good kombucha to be honest. We've got buttered fruit sourdough,
lovely latte and mine. What was this again? Cured parsnip. Cured parsnip soup.
Okay, we're just leaving the coffee shop now, heading through Skipton to the first stop of the
road trip, which is Bolton Abbey. By the way, if anyone's tried kombucha, please let me know in the
comments. Did anybody notice me drop my camera? It just slid off my shoulder in the previous clip
when I was walking through Skipton. I stopped, well, as soon as I stopped filming, two ladies
were like, excuse me, excuse me, you've dropped this. And I was like, oh my goodness. And then,
I watched it back and you could actually see the camera strap sliding off my shoulder onto the
floor. Anybody notice that? Anybody who's really observant? Because I didn't. Anyway, we are now
I think his owners are up there. Update on the doggo. We found his owner.
Just 10 minutes from Skipton, I would say Bolton Abbey is well worth seeing. If you're in this
part of Yorkshire, come and see this history. So, the next place that we're heading to is
a secret waterfall. But first of all, I wanted to shout out Suzanne and Stephen
for always leaving lovely comments on my YouTube videos. I really, really appreciate it.
We're heading to the waterfall. I thought I'd show you this first.
This behind me is a beautiful walk. And I don't know if you can see that there,
that formation of rocks is called Malham Cove. Kirby Malham and also the village of Malham,
which is not too far away. And they've both got gorgeous pubs.
I'm going to get in the car now because the car's coming.
The man that we've bumped into, he told us that people were bathing in this waterfall.
battered pigs in blankets. And it does. Can I have one? Yeah.
Yeah. What do they taste like? Bacon or? Bacon sausage. Batter. Batter.
Fish and chips done. Does anybody else get scraps? I mean, I'm not a fan, but it's very,
it's a very British thing to get scraps with your fish and chips.
Probably if you're in America, maybe you don't have this, but it's free.
I think I will end my video here. We're just going to be toasting marshmallows,
making our hot chocolates, and then relaxing for the rest of the evening. So thank you so
much for watching my little vlog around Yorkshire. If you enjoyed it, please give it a thumbs up.
If you'd like to see more videos like this, then please subscribe. And I will see you tomorrow
when we are heading to the most beautiful town in the whole of, well, what is named
the most beautiful town in the whole of England. So stay tuned for that.
So, come here.
Oh, shit. Ah, it's still on fire. I don't think it's supposed to look like that.
So this is home, but first, coffee.
It actually inspired Ruskin, Wordsworth, and also, who else did it inspire?
Wayne Rooney.
Right, do you know what? I buggered it up again.
There we go.
