911 S5 Botnet Dismantled and Its Administrator Arrested in
Coordinated International Operation
Tuesday, May 28, 2024
AG: “Today, the Justice Department led an international law
enforcement operation, stretching from Southeast Asia to
Europe to the Caribbean, which disrupted Nine-Eleven S-5.
Nine-Eleven S-5 was a botnet that facilitated cyber-attacks,
large-scale fraud, child exploitation, harassment, bomb threats,
and export violations. As part of this operation, YunHe Wang,
a Chinese national, was arrested on charges for creating and
operating the botnet and for deploying malware.
We allege that Wang created and disseminated malware to
compromise more than 19 million unique IP addresses,
including more than 613,000 in the United States.
He then made more than $99 million selling cybercriminals
access to his network of hijacked devices. Those criminals,
in turn, used that access to commit a staggering array of
crimes that victimized children, threatened people’s safety,
and defrauded financial institutions
and federal lending programs.”
Justice Department’s Violent Crime Reduction Steering
Committee Meets to Discuss Building on the Progress
Made in Reducing Violent Crime in Major Cities
Tuesday, May 28, 2024
The Steering Committee was briefed by members of the
Criminal Division, ATF, and FBI on updates regarding the
implementation of Justice Department initiatives around violent
crime such as gun crimes and carjackings. The Committee was
briefed on the latest violent-crime statistics,
which show a notable and steady decline in violent crime.
Alleged Sinaloa Cartel Leader and Lead Assassin
Extradited from Mexico to the United States on
Drug Importation, Murder, Kidnapping, Firearms, and
Money Laundering Charges
Tuesday, May 28, 2024
AG: “We allege El Nini was one of the Sinaloa Cartel’s lead
sicarios, or assassins, and was responsible for the murder,
torture, and kidnapping of rivals and witnesses who threatened
the cartel’s criminal drug trafficking enterprise.
This includes killing a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
confidential source and killing others in retaliation for the
confidential source’s cooperation. We also allege El Nini was a
part of the Sinaloa Cartel’s production and sale of fentanyl,
including in the United States.”
-Attorney General Merrick B. Garland
Thirteen Defendants Charged with Firearms Trafficking Related
Offenses; Over One Hundred-Forty Firearms Seized
Friday, May 31, 2024
“Traffickers who illegally engage in the business of unlicensed
firearms dealing contribute to the illicit flow of firearms into the
black market. All too often these powerful firearms then make
their way into the hands of felons, gang members,
and other violent offenders. Some of these weapons
make their way into countries in our hemisphere,
with undesirable consequences in those places as well.
Our Office will continue to work with our law enforcement
partners to identify targets who unlawfully traffic in and
possess firearms, prosecute the offenders, and
reduce gun violence.”

In June 2021, a South Carolina policer officer stopped a sprinter
van on I-85. The search of the van revealed suitcases containing
73 guns and hidden compartments containing marijuana.
"South Carolina will play no part in illegal gun trafficking.
Our office will continue to work to ensure the safety of our
community and our neighbors."
-U.S. Attorney Adair F. Boroughs for the District of South Carolina
Announcements of arrests, indictments, criminal complaints,
charges or similar which may be described in this video are
