(music) Text: This Week at Justice April 12, 2024
AG Garland: Under this regulation, it will not matter if guns are sold on the internet, at a gun show,
or at a brick-and-mortar store: if you sell guns predominantly to earn a profit,
you must be licensed, and you must conduct background checks. This regulation is a
historic step in the Justice Department’s fight against gun violence. It will save lives.
Text: COVID-19 Fraud Enforcement Task Force Released 2024 Report
AG Garland: Since I established the COVID-19 Fraud Enforcement Task Force three years ago,
we have charged more than 3,500 defendants, seized or forfeited over $1.4 billion in stolen COVID-19 relief funds,
and filed more than 400 civil lawsuits resulting in court judgements and settlements.
Our work is not over. We will continue our efforts to investigate and prosecute
pandemic relief fraud and to recover the assets that have been stolen from American taxpayers.

the Leader of MS-13 in Honduras and One of FBI’s, DEA’s, and HSI’s Most Wanted Fugitives
AG Garland: Over the course of decades, MS-13 has sowed unspeakable violence in communities here
in the United States and abroad. With the arrest and extradition of the alleged principal MS-13 drug and weapons supplier,
the Justice Department is making clear that those responsible for flooding our communities with violence
and deadly drugs will be held accountable in an American courtroom.
AG Garland: Thanks to the work of the FBI and our state and local law enforcement partners,
this defendant is being held accountable for allegedly detonating an explosive device
outside of the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.
The Justice Department has no tolerance for acts of violence targeting those who serve the public.
DAG Monaco: The sentence imposed today is the result of innovative work by the FBI and Justice Department
prosecutors who tirelessly investigated this case.
It is also a reminder that the Justice Department will hold accountable those who turn to violence as a means of intimidation.
AG Garland: With this weapons transfer, the United States government is both disrupting Iran’s destabilizing efforts
and supporting Ukraine’s fight against Russia’s brutal, unprovoked invasion.
The Justice Department will continue to use our legal authorities, including forfeiture,
to support the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.
AG Garland: This final rule marks the Justice Department’s latest effort to ensure that no person
is denied access to government services, programs, or activities because of a disability.
By issuing clear and consistent accessibility standards for state and local governments’ digital content,
this rule advances the ADA’s promise of equal participation in society for people with disabilities.
I want to thank the many public servants across the Department,
led by the Civil Rights Division, for their tremendous work on this rule.
Text: Announcements of arrests, indictments, criminal complaints, charges or similar which may be described in this video are merely accusations.
Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
