So I just finished up my Chasing Epic Moab trip.
I'm on my way back home right now, and I'm in Draper, Utah.
And if you know anything about Draper, Utah, something should come to mind.
For me, it's Corner Canyon and Jason from MTB Yum Yum.
So we're at his local shop here, Go Ride in Draper, and we're going to pick up some demo bikes.
We're going to do the full MTB Yum Yum experience today. Rock and roll.
So I have no idea what bike I'm going to be riding. Let's find out.
They've got the nice fleet. Holy moly. It even smells good in here.
Chris is getting us tuned up here. We're both going to be on high towers today.
Brand new bike. It needs a little more sticker action.
All right. We're set up. Let's go hit the trail.
It was pretty chilly this morning, and now it's actually warming up, so I'm glad.
Always afraid of this bitter cold everywhere outside of California.
So before the knee pads goes the liner. It's just a little piece of fabric.
These are actual winter ones, so they're a little fleecy, so they keep me nice and warm.
Anyway, that way it never bugs you when you're out riding.
I like that idea, but my knees are already sweaty enough.
Are they?
I like the idea of having that barrier where maybe you could wash the liner
instead of the knee pads being just the eternal funk.
Routine maintenance is easier this way.
Jason's trying out the Karma Grip with the Hero 5 on it.
We've got Jason's buddy Kevin here with us as well.
So how do you bed brakes?
Go really fast and slam on without skidding your tire.
Feel how there's no power?
There's like no power in the brakes right now.
Gotta build up speed and jam them on without skidding.
Try not to skid. Otherwise the brake pad glazes over.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you definitely want to get it all broken in.
I've never broken in my brakes.
Fall in Utah. It's a beautiful thing.
Time for some adjustments.
The second he hit the dirt, he's like, no, this is wrong.
Pain and pleasure yum-yum style.
Jason rides naked, no water, no pack, no tools.
So if he gets a flat, we're just going to leave him.
Alright, first descent on this bike.
Get the feel.
Feels like a pogo stick.
Oh, no power in the brakes.
I don't think I bedded them good enough.
Oh yeah. No grip.
No grip out here.
Oh man.
Nice.
This is cool.
Oh man.
Jesus.
They're working now.
I'm going to dial my rebound down a little bit. I feel like it's pogo pogo.
That was silly. That was good. You guys are shredding.
That part's always fun because it's always out of control.
I'm glad I don't feel alone in that.
If you fall on the right side in the gutter, it's good luck.
Welcome to Corner Canyon.
This is the fast section here where you'll be fine.
That sounds very confidence inspiring.
There's a left hander at the end.
There's a left hander that sneaks up on you.
At the bottom, there's a little 8 inch ravine that feels like...
I shouldn't even say anything.
If you're falling, you'll be fine.
The bike feels a little more planted now.
A little less pogo stick.
Jason's ripping.
Dust cloud.
Kevin missed the left hander.
Into the brake bumps.
Into the sand pit.
This is intense.
What the hell.
Come on.
It would have been fine.
No warm up.
Throw him in.
I slid out.
It's not my style.
There's so much momentum for sure.
It's a super easy jump.
I'd like to look at something before I do it.
That was a ripper.
On the edge of sanity.
These are nice turns.
How about these fall colors?
This is great.
It's great watching Jason move his body around.
I just love seeing that.
Learning from it and trying it myself.
The ski is smooth.
It's still going.
What do you think about your Corner Canyon debut?
That was great.
It's not real technical at all.
It doesn't matter.
The fun factor is off the charts.
Could there be a better time to be out riding?
This is picture perfect.
You're a good rider.
That was awesome.
After the maniacal
throw him into the fire
first start.
I'm trying to feel the bike out.
I'm guessing you guys have ridden it a couple of times.
Everybody is happy.
A little slice of heaven out here in Utah.
Kevin is going to whip out
his crazy cool invention.
He's got a cable cam thing that he's working on.
The smallest cable cam in the world.
He does big time cable cams
for guys that shoot movies and red cameras.
He's just working on this stuff
for prosumer level YouTube channel guys
that maybe want to spend $1000
and get some amazing shots.
This is going to be so cool to watch him set this up.
It's called HiSight.
That's the equipment.
It's like a 3 quarter mount.
Any of your GoPro
Karma, the Evo, Osmo.
Just like a tripod mount.
It's non remote controlled.
You set your distance, your speed.
You can ping pong.
If you're out by yourself,
get the killer selfie of it moving.
You just time yourself to the movement of the camera.
So much better than a drone.
I have a drone.
I never use the drone.
People hate the drone.
The battery, the noise is awful.
For this, you have to find trees.
Get it nice and taut.
First try.
When do you want me to come in?
I'm going to give it the beans.
He's going to give it the beans.
I think we missed it.
I've never heard that one.
I'm going to start using it now.
I'm going to put it on a shirt.
That needs to be your shirt.
Keep the party on the pedals.
It's a great time to be a mountain biker.
It is.
There's never been a better time to be a mountain biker.
No flats.
Yes.
Why don't I follow you?
It is incredibly nice out right now.
This is so nice.
Many beans were given.
A couple of walkers.
A couple of hot mommas.
You guys live in the land of the hot mom.
Unreal.
We have draper moms.
The whole cable cam system just packed away into his little bag.
I can't even tell.
I'm leading the way.
They told me left, left, left.
I'm ready for a rider to pop out at any minute.
No bikes.
Yeah.
Did that sign say no hooting?
No horses.
I cannot follow the rules on no hooting.
After riding with Jonathan Lee.
All I want to do is pump and bump.
Jump.
I almost hit my butt on the tire that time.
Oh my God.
We have to take a second for some celebration on that.
Holy moly.
Super cool.
That is good stuff.
I'm enjoying the hell out of this bike.
It was the option to demo the new Nomad.
I figured there wouldn't be a lot of gnarliness.
That top section was gnarly for sure.
I'm really glad I got a little bit of a shorter travel.
Smiles for miles.
Nice.
Don't break the chain.
These are the old school trails that Jason used to ride.
When he was a kid.
Super solid first run.
Corner Canyon. Fantastic.
Let's do another one.
