(Laliga 2023/2024): Highlights VILLARREAL - RAYO

It's more likely that they are going to fight only for that Conference League spot, but it would still be an improvement, obviously, on not competing in Europe at all for them next term. Rayo Vallecano, they know that this season they haven't... ...in the last few minutes at least. Here's Ilya Sakomak, looking to cut under that left foot. Actually goes out wide, plays it across the head and just over the crossbar. First clear cuts... ...in the game 2-1. A lovely long range effort. Now Aleksandr Solov is in the box for Villarreal. And if he has that kind of space, he will find the back of the nets. Aleksandr Solov is at it again. Goal number 16 this season. And Villarreal take the lead against Rayo Vallecano. Pays it off for Gerrish. Now it's Ilyas. Cuts under his right and across the save. We have the confirmation actually. Very quickly, but it has been ruled out for offside. Ball down. Mumin did, but his second touch let him down. Now it's Goncalo Gerrish. It's Alex Paena with the strike and off the crossbar. What an effort. Solov was waiting for the pass. He's been picked out here. It's Aleksandr Solov that goes round the keeper. Shot for offside and it did look like it as well. And Solov doesn't... Another chance maybe from the edge of the box. It's Alberto Moreno. And what a save. What a save that was from Sterle Dimitrov. Thies thought about the shot. Opposite chip it over. Randy Enteko with the touch. Overhead kick on target. It's Leon Solov. As the header comes off the save of Dimitrovski. But into the back of the net. And it's a big one. It's Gerson Mosquera. His first goal in La Liga. And it's a big goal because it doubles Villarreal. Driving forward. Plays it through for Aleksandr Solov. And he finds the ball. He's done it again. And this one, you have to believe, will stand. It's the same combination that led to Villarreal taking the lead in the first half. Alex Baena with a lovely... Not a bad ball for Coquelin who quite clearly didn't have the legs to go there. How about that from Alex Baena? That is magnificent from the Villarreal midfielder. He stays on the ball. Plays it across. And Pedrata is denied Villarreal's fourth goal by a brilliant save from Solov Dimitrovski. Villarreal as they secure a 3-0 victory. And therefore all three points. Aleksandr Solov with two goals.
