Seven simple foods you can be eating to combat aging,
especially when it comes to your skin, wrinkles,
what's going on on the inside
can make a huge difference on the outside.
Jump into my top seven.
Number seven, red bell peppers.
High amount of vitamin C content
in these little nutrient-packed snacks,
maybe with a little bit of hummus you could have.
That's gonna help collagen production
with the extra vitamin C,
but they also contain carotenoids.
Now, carotenoids are very good at getting the toxins
out of the skin, protecting the skin
from sunburn from the inside.
They are great antioxidants.
Red, yellow, orange.
These colors of fruits and vegetables
are very high in carotenoids,
so you could also eat yellow peppers and orange peppers,
but my favorite way to have them
is dipping them in a hummus,
having them sliced up in the fridge, ready to go.
Maybe it's the snack you have before you eat dinner.
It's easy to get those in,
and they are crunchy, delicious,
lots of water going into the system.
Your skin's gonna love that.
Your aging is gonna love that.
Number six, pomegranates.
Excellent for blood pressure,
but also very good for the skin.
Again, gonna have a high dose of vitamin C
involved with them,
and also an excellent source of antioxidants.
This is gonna protect our body from free radical damage.
That is what breaks down the skin the fastest.
That's why a sunburn is one of the hardest things
on the skin because it creates free radical damage.
Well, now you can be fighting that from the inside out
with a food like a pomegranate.
My kids go crazy for them.
They love to snack on the little pomegranate seeds.
They'll get a little container of them now
that are already peeled and shucked out of the pomegranate.
You can get a fresh one if you'd like.
It's an easy little nighttime snack,
maybe instead of popcorn or a pretzel,
or maybe you just need a little bit of crunch
that you could have pomegranate.
Maybe that's the way to go about it.
Another little known nutrients in it,
punica ligans are an excellent compound
found in high amounts in a pomegranate
that actually help the collagen production of your skin
to give you a better anti-aging effect.
Pomegranates, number six.
Number five, spinach.
Spinach Popeye was right.
He did not age.
And this vegetable packed full of hydrating
and antioxidant nutrients, vitamin A,
vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, lutein,
which helps support the eye and around the eye,
as well as plant-based heme,
which can help assist blood flow,
especially if it's lacking better red blood cells,
carrying more oxygen to the tissue.
That's all beneficial when it comes to the skin
and anti-aging effect from the inside out.
Now, vitamin A itself promotes healthy skin.
Vitamin C, of course, as we've mentioned,
is a precursor for collagen,
which is helping all of the connective tissue in the body,
especially skin.
And then vitamin K, also an anti-inflammatory effect,
affecting the blood flow.
All of that goes down in spinach.
My favorite, easiest way to take it in, number one,
put a handful of it in your smoothie in the morning,
you won't even know it's there.
So you can add in this anti-aging nutrient
really easily that way.
Second way to do it is every time you're out
at a restaurant, and sometimes Nurse Livingood
and I forget, ask or request spinach
instead of your typical romaine lettuce,
which really doesn't have that much nutrient content.
So you can really 4X, 5X, 6X your amount of nutrients
you're getting in a salad out by just requesting spinach.
A lot of times they'll have it,
or at least a mixed greens,
to get way more nutrient value out of that salad
if you're gonna have it in the first place.
Number four, nuts and seeds.
These are excellent to add in,
help nourish and moisturize the skin.
They're high in vitamin E,
which is the mother of all antioxidants,
which is going to put some serious firepower behind
preventing free radical damage,
especially those coming from the rays of the sun.
Loading up on nuts and seeds
can be a great source of omega-3s.
Fish is another excellent source as well,
that when you load up on that,
the anti-inflammatory response inside of your body
can help prevent any kind of UV damage,
free radical damage that's happening on the outside
that is speeding up and accelerating that aging process,
especially when it comes to your skin.
So nuts, seeds, sources of omega-3
help to rehydrate and nourish the skin
so it can fight and stay wrinkle-free.
Kind of adds that oil layer to give your skin a glow.
So best ways of getting this in,
you can put flax seeds or chia seeds
right into that smoothie.
You really don't even taste them at that point,
taking in a lot of extra omega-3s.
You could have a little snack bag that you take with.
Maybe it's a little Ziploc bag of raw nuts.
We definitely don't want them roasted,
especially in bad oils.
We don't want them covered with sugar.
We want the raw form of the nut.
Almonds, macadamia nuts are a good one,
pistachios, and so you can have those in a bag collectively
and maybe that's what you snack on
if you get a little bit hungry.
Easy ways to get these in, great anti-inflammatory food.
Number three, blueberries.
I can't believe this slid all the way to number three,
but it did.
Frozen or regular, great source of vitamin A,
which we talked about what that does to the skin
and supporting skin, hair, and nails.
Vitamin C to amplify, again, that collagen production.
But blueberries are high in anthocyanin.
This is what gives them their deep blue color.
Very powerful antioxidant, this is.
So it is going to give your skin protection
from the sun, UV rays, pollutants, stress.
Blueberries are one of my favorite natural antioxidants
and detoxers.
So it is my favorite fruit to put into a smoothie
in the morning because it doesn't spike
the insulin levels much at all.
They taste amazing.
They're chock full of a bunch of nutrients.
They're anti-aging.
You can freeze them and it keeps this.
In fact, frozen blueberries have higher amounts
of anthocyanin.
So you get even more antioxidant power out of it,
which then means you don't need as much ice in your smoothie.
You can actually put nutrients in
because they're already frozen.
And then you can keep them that way.
So many benefits.
Easy to get blueberries in.
Go for it.
I love them fresh as well.
And you can get a little exercise by picking them yourself
if it's that time of year as well.
Number two, avocados.
Avocados, yeah, you know what's up.
If you haven't heard the avocado song, you should.
Avocados are loaded with healthy fats and healthy nutrients.
These healthy fats help support the skin
to make it more supple.
Given that oily layer produces real healthy fats
that every cell in your body has a layer of it around.
So if we want to have an anti-aging effect
and healthy skin and healthy complexion,
we need healthy cells.
Avocados help to do that.
So not only are they an excellent source
of those needed fatty acids,
but avocados are one of the most nutritious things
you can eat.
Vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin E, potassium.
One we haven't talked about that's really gonna help
the water balance in your body.
So if you want healthier looking skin,
you want it to be hydrated, potassium is the key
to regulating that along with sodium inside of your body.
We typically get too much salt and too little potassium.
Avocado is an easy way to get way more of that in,
let alone the collagen benefits, the benefits of vitamin K,
the benefits of vitamin A that we talked about already.
So this will give you that extra boost to shed,
dry, unwanted dead skin.
Vitamin A and these nutrients help to do that,
as well as giving you that extra layer from the inside
to protect from UV damage or pollutant damage,
toxins from the outside,
to not cause the underlying damage to your skin
that creates a lot of aging in the first place.
And number one, broccoli.
Yes, broccoli is a nutrient powerhouse
and in studies has actually been shown
to be able to kill cancer cells.
This one tops my list of simple foods
you can eat for anti-aging.
If it can take out a cancer cell,
it can help with dead, aging or damaged cells.
And that's what we want.
This powerhouse high in antioxidants,
fiber you're gonna be getting
so your digestive system moves along,
gets the toxins out of you much better.
Lutein helping with eye health.
Calcium, it's a great source of that.
So you don't have to be taking a chalky white substance
in the supplement form.
Your body can use it easier.
It's got great vitamin C levels as well,
which is gonna help with that collagen production.
So you're gonna have more of that stretching
and elasticity to your skin.
Broccoli is full of nutrients.
Steam it, eat it raw.
That's what I do quite a bit.
The sprouts of it can go on a salad or on a sandwich.
Fantastic nutrient to get in
and so prevalent for us to be putting in.
So broccoli tops the list
as the ultimate anti-inflammatory, anti-aging,
simple nutrient that you can get in your diet
on a more regular basis.
How can you get more of that in?
Maybe it's that's your side
at the next time you eat out.
Instead of French fries,
you go for broccoli to keep that anti-aging fighting.
Maybe you have a bowl of it
like the living goods do in the fridge.
So if you get a little bit hungry before dinner
or maybe a snack at lunchtime,
you could do some hummus with the broccoli.
There's a lot of different creative ways you can get it in,
but you can get more of these amazing seven foods
to slow down that aging process.
If you still are feeling really stiff,
especially in the morning,
why that stiffness is there,
check out this next video right here
of another part of aging,
which is stiffness that happens.
Very popular one to help you eliminate that stiffness
so you can just feel more spry and more energetic,
especially in the morning time.
Check it out.
