In this episode: We may have found the toilet with the most scenic view at the top of the Hope Lookout Trail in Hope, BC, Canada! Join us as we hike up and check out the view from the top.
Today we're going to show you the Hope Lookout Trail. Yeah, we're going to show you where it is,
what to expect on the way up, and the amazing view from the top.
And spoiler alert, it's a workout. Think Stairmaster.
Ready to go on our hike. Here we go. All right, we're here at the Hope Lookout Trail.
What do we know about it? You're going in elevation of 470 meters or 1540 feet,
and it is about one and a half hours going one way, going up, so probably about a two or three hour
hike. So we're only a couple minutes into the hike and beautiful trees and
very nice scenery, with the exception of the highway traffic noise that we can hear right now,
kind of spoiling it a little bit, but hopefully that'll get better as we get higher up.
I was debating between hiking shoes and just like walking shoes for this hike.
I think we made the right shoe decision. As you can see, it's pretty steep there,
lots of loose rock and stuff, moderately challenging. So we've reached the first
little rest stop and we have kind of a little bit of a view, but as you might be able to hear,
the traffic noise is probably worse than it was before. I think we need to get up a little higher.
How are you doing? Well, the last week or so we've been working out our moving muscles,
but not our hiking muscles. So we're here about halfway up, having a little rest,
having a bit of water. What do you think? Are you tired yet? It's like a stair master.
This trail is kind of nice in that it has steep parts followed by flatter parts,
and so far it's been pretty well covered by trees, so it doesn't get too hot.
I think we're maybe three quarters of the way now and we're both huffing and puffing,
so it's a good elevation change. Good workout. So we've reached the top of the Hope Mountain
Lookout. And it was quite a workout to get up here. I'm quite happy there are benches.
There's even a washroom, but check out the view that we're enjoying. It's pretty nice.
Yeah, so that was well worth the climb. So I think I've found one of the most scenic toilets
in the world. You can sit on the john here and have a beautiful view out to the mountains.
How nice is that? So what's that? The log book? Log book. Like a guest book, I guess.
Going down is always a lot easier on the cardio system,
but it's a lot harder on the knees. Let's see if I can remember how to operate these.
They're looking a little dangly. These poles are not erect at all.
I feel like we need the Jeopardy music.
You twist it. No, there's another trick to it.
One of those cutaways like five hours later. Are you sure? Oh, you've got your click. Really,
really pull it. All right, that's one pole. So much faster when you know how to do it.
The timer on the camera says that that took two and a half minutes. All right, ready to rock.
All right, well, that was a nice little hike. It was torture.
Mel thinks it was torture. It was a bit steep at points, but yeah, we made it feel pretty good.
But yeah, that was the Hope Lookout Trail. So be sure to like this video, share it with your
friends, make comments, do all that other fun stuff. And remember, when you roam, everywhere is
home. We're going to get out the hiking poles. Well, James.
