well hello there fabulous people welcome back to our bread baking series 30 ways to make bread
today is part seven i'm gonna be showing you how i made this absolutely gorgeous and delicious
spinach bread this is the most colorful bread ever it smells looks and tastes absolutely delicious
i'm sure you're really going to love it remember to click the like button share this video with
your friends and family and if you haven't already please subscribe to my channel thank you
so let's begin the star of today's show is the almighty spinach i'm gonna be using a handful
of spinach i've already washed and cleaned this spinach so they're clean and ready to go so i'm
going to add some water to my blending jug just to cover until the top i'm going to cover this
and i'm going to bring this to the blend now and i'm going to simply blend this until it's
absolutely smooth with no lumps at all inside of it once it's ready i'm going to sieve it
nicely just to ensure there is no leftover bits in it at all so i'm using a clean net
to sieve this through you basically want to make sure there was no leftover bits of spinach in it
once that's all done i'm going to simply squeeze it gently very gently and as you can see we're
now left with the beautifully pure green and smooth liquid from the spinach this is the only
liquid we're going to be using to bake this bread today so where a recipe calls for water or milk
we're going to be replacing it with this super green liquid so i'm going to be measuring out
250 milliliters of this spinach liquid which is what i'll be using to bake my bread today
so i'm going to set this aside for now in the meantime i'm measuring out three cups of
strong flour to this i'm going to be adding one teaspoon of instant yeast one teaspoon of
himalayan salt and one tablespoon of sugar now i'm going to simply mix everything to make sure
it's well combined then i'm going to crack in one large egg and then i'm going to bring back
that liquid it's 250 milliliters of the spinach liquid i'm going to throw this in there
and then i'm going to begin to mix feel free to use a spatula if you want or just use your hand
just simply continue to mix the color will slowly begin to turn into light green just like this
once it's all nicely mixed i'm going to gently place this on my work surface
then i'm going to add 30 grams of unsalted butter remember that if you're using salted
butter you need to reduce the amount of salt you added at the beginning in the flour so i'm going
to simply knead this dough until it's nice and smooth continue to need this i needed this for
about seven to eight minutes and then it gave me this lovely stretchy smooth and silky dough
just like this now i'm going to simply roll this into one big ball and we're ready for the first
proofing so i'm going to simply place the kneaded dough straight into my bowl i'm going to cover
this and allow it to proof for between 45 to 50 minutes that's all it needs for the first proofing
so simply cover this with a cling film and with a cloth keep it in a warm area and leave it to rise
for between 45 to 50 minutes it's been about 50 minutes later this is perfectly silky smooth
and ready so i'm going to simply divide this into six equal portions that's because i'm going to be
making six very large bread rolls with them so just put this at the palm of your hand
fold and twist into a nice little ball just on the palm of your hands that will give you a nice ball
just place this neatly into your baking tray and set it aside for now now let's do the second one
again fold twist roll into a ball and then once that's all ready we're going to place this very
neatly straight into our baking dish just like this now i'm going to continue rolling the remaining
dough exactly the same way until i've finished every single one of it once that's all ready
i'm going to simply cover this and leave it to rise for between 30 to 40 minutes now it's been
about 40 minutes later and our bread dough is nicely risen and it's ready to bake so before
baking i like to brush the top of it with a little bit of milk just to give it a nicely brown topping
in my previous video someone asked if they could use egg wash to brush the top of the bread i would
personally not recommend egg wash i think it's too heavy for breads just using a tiny bit of milk
to brush the top of your bread dough before baking will do just fine so i've already preheated my
oven to 170 celsius and i'm using a fan assisted oven simply place this in your oven and allow
this to bake for 25 minutes exactly now 25 minutes later our bread is baked to perfection
and i can't wait to tuck in just take a look at how absolutely gorgeous this bread is this is simply
one of the most colorful breads ever and i absolutely love it remember i'll be leaving
