Okay, I think we've got everyone here.
Come on in, boys.
We're going to do a quick pop-up video.
Hello, everyone.
This was unplanned, but for anybody new here, hi, I'm Maggie, your substitute teacher.
Welcome to your struggle cooking class.
I am not a professional chef, and I am not a YouTuber.
I am just a mom, a boy mom times two.
So hostage number one, would you like to introduce yourself, please?
Okay, so this is Patrick Mahomes, also known as Swim Shady.
And hostage number two, would you like to introduce yourself?
This is Tua Tugavaloa, also known as Alex, the substitute taste tester.
Okay, you know what?
So anyway, the reason we are here, oh my goodness, yeah, it's already starting.
So the reason we are here is because I received some free bread this morning when we went
to service.
They had like a fall festival, and there was some extra loaves of bread left over.
So they gave us a loaf of bread.
And so I am going to actually slice this bread.
And you guys have sometimes asked if the boys like my substitutes.
So I have a couple of things here.
We have some Kite Hill plant butter made from almond milk, and we have my goat's butter
here.
I know it looks kind of janky, but I'm just going to toast this.
And I'm going to let the boys kind of talk about the type of bread that they like.
And we'll just let you guys see their reaction, because I said, yes, you can have the bread.
So I'm going to start by just cutting it in half.
And I think what we'll do is we'll just take off some end pieces.
So they gave me the name of the bread at church, but I can't remember what they said.
But it's a very soft and squishy kind of loaf.
So what we're going to do is we're going to cut it, excuse me, we're going to cut it in
half down the middle.
The boys are saying hello.
Hi, guys.
We got Lauren in the house.
We got Veggie Veggie in the house.
All right, so I'm just going to cut it right down the middle because we don't want any
complaints.
All right.
So we're going to break bread together.
All right, so it looks very pillowy, very soft.
Okay, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to cut up one moment, please.
I'm going to cut off an end piece.
Can you try that plain and let us know what it tastes like?
And try that.
Let us know what it tastes like.
And then I'm going to do three slices.
I'll let you know what it tastes like.
I'd love to know what it tastes like.
Right.
Okay.
So what we're going to do is you guys know I've been living a sugar free, dairy free
and gluten free life.
So I have some plant butter here that I'm going to let the boys try the goat's butter
and I'm going to let them try the low sugar jellies.
How do you make butter from plants?
Ah, good question.
Does anybody know how you make butter from art?
I'm going to read it.
Can I get this in toast?
They said this is really good toasted with butter.
So, oh, you know what?
We'll get out some honey too.
So we're going to put this in the air fryer.
We'll do one at a time.
I don't know if you guys like your bread soft or toasted.
So let's see here.
We're going to toast.
I'm going to cover this with foil.
Marcus, why don't you talk about the type of breads that you like?
Um, I like white bread.
Oh, okay.
You know, I have my very complex palate.
Um, just normal white bread.
Okay.
Thank you.
All right, so I'm going to put the first two slices here
so we make sure we don't mess up anything.
And we'll do a little bit of toast.
Do you guys toast first and then butter or do you?
Okay.
Look, here's how you're supposed to do it.
Okay.
According to me.
Uh-huh.
What you do is just cook it for three-fourths of the time.
You put some of the butter you're going to do on there.
Mm-hmm.
After you cook it for three-fourths.
So you let it melt in the air fryer.
Let it seep into.
And that's if you're going to eat the bread right after you cook it,
which we might be doing.
All right.
So I'm going to butter one side with the goat's butter, just soft.
This is real butter, but it's made from goat's milk instead of cow dairy.
So the boys have tasted it plain.
And I'm going to put this in the, um, do you want to do one plain
or would you like it toasted?
Toasted.
Toasted?
Okay.
So we're going to do one in the air fryer and then we're going to do, um,
this is goat's butter.
Alex, did you talk about the type of bread you like?
Excuse me.
I like sourdough bread.
Okay.
Anything particular about sourdough?
Um.
It makes really good sandwiches.
Yummy.
Okay.
We got La La Thomas.
Thank you so much for being here.
If you want to hop on over to YouTube, I am Maggie, the substitute teacher.
And you can see the side-by-side there.
All right.
So we've got the goat's butter.
Now I'm going to do the plant-based butter.
So I did leave this out so it could soften.
Why?
So this is Kite Hill butter made from almond milk.
So I'm going to read what it says Marcus was asking.
It says, Kite Hill was founded by an artisan chef,
and you can tell with every delicious bite.
Our creamy butter alternative is crafted with cultured almond milk
for a truly mouth-watering experience.
Okay.
So I'm not vegan, but I do like a lot of vegan options because I have to avoid dairy.
We got Diaries Belle Rose in the house.
Thank you for being here.
If you want to hop on over to YouTube.
Okay.
So now you can see, since I left this out, I'm going to stir a little bit.
Our plant-based butter kind of separated, but we're going to brush it on there and toast it.
Okay.
Now you guys do know, I don't know how much you know about butter,
but you know that if you were to melt, I'm just going to use a brush and kind of mix it up.
If you were to melt cow dairy, it would separate into the cream,
and then it would separate into the fat.
That's why I don't melt it.
Okay.
I eat the butter.
You don't eat the butter, do you?
All right.
So we're going to brush this on.
Dang.
We're going to let the boys taste the plant-based butter.
All right.
And then we're going to try some of our sugar-free jelly.
So let's see if we can swap.
Do you have any grape jelly?
I didn't see grape jelly, but I do have some sugar-free honey, so we can try that.
What if we had cellophane, like some stuff you normally put on bread?
Well, I was trying to do like a taste test with the sugar-free stuff.
All right.
So we have the plant-based.
So veggie, veggie, all of these came from Whole Foods.
So let's swap out and see what we've got with the toasting so far.
All right.
So let me get...
Let's bring this over.
All right.
We're going to see how, if this is toasted enough.
No.
It's not?
You need more?
Alex, what about you?
More?
Can't be soft.
All right.
So let me...
Why are you poking it?
He's got his own.
It's okay.
I'm going to eat it.
All right.
Not crunchy enough?
No.
It must be.
All right.
So we...
They wanted a little bit darker.
I want it burnt.
See?
Sorry.
She's stuck in the hole.
It's too much.
I like...
I do my bread, and I cook it.
I take like a knife.
I run over and I make some cackling noise.
Cackling?
Cackling.
Like laughter?
Cackling.
Like...
Like, oh.
Cackling.
Can you stop?
Cackling.
Yeah, we have some issues.
Let me get it.
Okay.
So Marcus, what do you like to put on your butter?
I mean, on your bread?
Just butter or butter and jelly, butter and honey?
I have some options here.
We have a Smucker's reduced sugar veggie.
You already know.
Smucker's reduced sugar strawberry.
We have Smucker's makes a sugar-free peach.
And then this is one of mine.
This is our honey substitute.
This is the sucrine gold.
All right.
So how do you like your toast?
I like my toast with the toast.
Ah, okay.
Okay, gotcha.
Well, this is a bread and butter taste test.
So today we're doing butter and jam.
If you had to pick your favorite jelly or jam,
what is your favorite flavor?
Um, the dark, the grape one.
Grape, okay.
I don't think I have grape.
I'm going to check your...
We don't have grape.
I thought I had a reduced sugar grape.
I'm going to check the...
I'm going to check the other fridge.
You sure?
Yeah.
All right.
Okay, Alex, I was going to check.
And then we'll do the last piece.
Y'all, I try.
I try, I try, I try.
But there are some options.
You guys know I always talk about beverages and condiments,
and there are some options for jelly.
If you can have a toast, please have some for me.
All right, let me check it out.
Let's see.
Okay, watch out, please.
It looks toastier to me.
This is your slice.
That's Alex's slice.
And then I'm going to put the plant-based butter in here.
Be careful not to hit the rack.
Okay, so let's see.
Is it toasty enough?
It's hot.
Oh, now it's too hot.
Let me get you a plate.
I don't need a plate.
A napkin?
Why would I need that?
Hello, Ms. Coddell.
Thank you for being here, trying to do a taste test with the boys.
All right, so I hear the crunch.
Now, this is goat's butter.
Tell them what you think about goat's butter.
If I didn't tell you it was goat's butter.
All right, your toast is ready.
Can you come taste the goat's butter?
It's toasty.
It is toasty.
Come check and see if it's toasty enough for you.
Not toasty.
Not toasty enough?
Must be toast.
Can you let them know what you think about goat's butter?
It tastes like butter.
It tastes like butter?
Okay, so if I didn't tell you that it was goat's butter and I just said,
Hey, Marcus, I have some breaded butter.
You'd be lying to me.
Okay, so Cold Fusion wants to know about the goat's butter.
How does it taste?
And, again, this comes from Whole Foods.
This is what I use all of the time.
I'm going to taste a little bit.
Let me just see if I can.
Honestly, it just tastes like butter.
At the very end, the finish, because this is made from goat's milk.
So the chemical composition, and I'm not a doctor and I'm not a scientist,
but something about the proteins in goat's milk is easier to tolerate.
Y'all see this foolishness?
Since you want to be over here.
The proteins in goat's milk are something about that is easier to digest for some people.
So, you know, I'm sensitive to cow dairy.
So that is why.
So I want to bring out, can we try yours?
All right, one second, please.
Let me know if this is toasting up Alex.
What about that?
I'm coming.
That's the plant-based.
I would like your take on the goat.
Do you need a plate or a napkin?
It appears to be hot.
It is hot.
All right.
Your thoughts?
Good.
All right.
Anything else?
Tastes like bread.
Tastes like bread and butter?
Okay.
So we're going to get, I'll let you guys.
I might eat this myself.
Okay, great.
I'm not forced to.
You're not forced to.
We just got a loaf of bread given to us at church.
They had a, not a bake sale, but they had something.
It's really good.
It's really good?
Okay.
Let's see if there's any questions.
Hello, Amethyst.
When you guys are finished with that slice, we're going to bring out the plant-based butter slice.
And then you can let me know which one you like better.
We're only on here for like 15 minutes.
Hello, Miss Lucy.
Thank you so much for being here.
Ah, she's saying hello.
She's cleaning the house.
I've got the greedy gong gongs with me.
Sometimes you guys ask what the boys think about my substitutes.
So they're trying bread with goat's milk butter.
If you can have regular cow dairy, have your Kerrygold and all that, it's fine.
Yes, Alex.
All done?
Mm-hmm.
Okay, Marcus, you still eating or you're done?
I wouldn't be able to tell if this was goat's butter.
Okay.
Mainly because I have a taste for absolutely nothing.
I'll eat anything.
Okay.
You give me some lemon wedges, I'll eat it.
If I'm hungry.
Marcus, you ready for the other one?
Okay.
Looks like they're done.
So it looks like I have two thumbs up for goat's butter.
I don't know why I have a taste for it.
All right.
Now we're going to go to the Kite Hill.
If you are vegan, for our vegan scholars, y'all, this is the Kite Hill almond milk butter.
Okay.
So let me get that out of the air fryer.
Almond milk?
I never knew it was almond milk.
Excuse me?
All right.
Marcus, yours is on the left.
Alex, yours is on the right.
One second.
All right.
So this is the Kite Hill butter.
We're going to let them taste and tell you guys what they think.
Oh, yeah.
That's perfect.
I love carbs.
The way it just makes my body fat.
All right.
Carbs.
How do you like the taste?
Listen.
That's what I'm looking for.
This is not some cooking channel.
Okay.
Yes, it is.
Is this some cooking channel?
Can you try the plant-based butter, please?
Oh, yeah.
And let me know what you think and what you prefer.
Unnecessary.
So this is the Kite Hill.
Um.
I'm tasting.
Still tasting?
Okay, Alex, you want to get your slice?
Okay.
Um.
Yeah, I don't taste any butter.
It just tastes like hot bread.
Okay.
Um.
Kite Hill, since it's not real butter, meaning it's fake.
Um.
Yeah, it doesn't taste like it.
Okay, so that's a no to the Kite Hill.
Yeah, because plants are bad.
Yeah, I agree.
Tastes like bread.
But they're still eating it, though.
Okay.
Well, what do you want me to do?
Okay, so we're going to do one last thing.
You want to put the goat's butter on it?
Careful, it's really soft.
Okay.
I'm going to do one more with the goat's butter.
And then I'm going to let you guys choose.
It doesn't matter.
We're going to let you guys choose.
Yes.
Are you going to finish this?
Yeah.
Okay.
They're actually putting the goat's butter on it because they prefer the goat's butter over the plant-based butter.
So for my vegans, the kids say no.
Marcus, there are some people that don't eat animal products, and that is okay.
That is totally okay.
Luke Casely says he's not wrong.
You wouldn't want to hurt their feelings.
Exactly.
Everybody eats, and we are not the food police.
All right.
So we're slathering on the goat's milk butter.
No.
Yummy?
Okay.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah?
No.
All right.
I need to toast the last one.
That's crazy.
Are you done?
I don't know.
I'm just going to...
All right.
So...
We could put, like, bacon or something in it.
Yeah, I don't have bacon for you.
Okay.
All right.
The last slice.
So, sounds like the goat's butter is preferred.
Welcome.
Amethyst likes the plant-based butter.
I'm right there with you.
I have cooked with the plant-based butter.
But y'all want to know what these crazy kids think?
Here you go.
So we got the last slice of bread here.
They say goat's milk butter.
So I'm going to go on with the goat's milk butter.
What are you doing?
Leave him.
He's squeezing the butter out of the bread.
All right.
That's too much butter.
You're wasting it.
This is expensive.
I'm not wasting it.
All right.
So we're doing the last slather of goat's milk butter.
And then I'm going to let you guys choose.
There's no...
All right.
So we're going to put this in.
Looks like the goat's milk butter is the winner, winner, chicken dinner.
And then I'm going to let the boys pick the condiment
and then give you guys their review on one of the sugar-free condiments.
Okay.
This bread right here.
This bread isn't completely cooked.
Tastes kind of like dough.
All right.
Alex, you want butter and honey?
Okay.
Of course.
This is honey.
It's okay.
Marcus, you want strawberry jelly, right?
All right.
I'm also going to get you all some real honey.
I don't want to.
No, we're doing substitutes now, please.
Okay.
I do have...
Marcus, would you like to try my calorie-free strawberry jam?
I have a question for you.
Would you try it?
Is honey considered a plant...
Not plant-based, an animal product?
Yes, because it comes from animals.
It actually comes from flowers and plants?
Well, guess what?
Cow meat comes from grass, and we call it a plant product.
I don't know if we have any real vegans here,
but Alex wants to know if honey is considered vegan.
No, because it comes from animals.
I don't know.
It's not.
Okay.
I'm asking.
All right.
So we're going to give Marcus this right here.
This is my Walden Farms calorie-free strawberry fruit spread.
Alex wants the sugar-free honey.
So just giving you guys some options.
The honey debate.
So we're toasting the last slice.
We're going to let the boys taste it and then tell you.
Excuse me?
I feel full.
Okay.
I know, right?
It's crazy.
It's the first time in forever.
Okay.
So let me get a spoon.
All right.
Excuse me.
So not that anybody asked, but my favorite bread is a croissant.
A fresh croissant.
I learned how to say it.
Marcus is taking French.
Yeah, I learned how to say it the right way.
You say it quack.
You say it like croissant.
Croissant.
Yeah, that's totally how you say it.
I'm yours to speak French.
Croissant.
Okay.
So you all know our French pastries that we all know and love.
Those are my favorites.
Let me just scroll back here and see if I'm missing anything,
because I think we're going to do one more minute,
and then we're going to take our toast out,
let them try the honey and the jam, and we're done.
Amethyst is saying hello.
Yes.
Thank you all for liking the live stream, the dumpster fire.
All right.
So let's get this last piece of toast out.
So Alex is going to do honey.
So this is what I'm putting on his.
Wilbert says brioche is his favorite.
I'd love to know what everybody's favorite type of bread is.
And Wilbert says hello, Maggie, and the young greetings.
Yes, the gong gongs are here.
The greedy gong gongs.
So as you can see, the whole loaf of bread is gone.
Excuse me.
Watch out, hot bread coming through.
Hot bread coming through.
All right.
So we've got the toasted bread, and Alex wanted honey.
Can I have a little piece?
Sure.
All right.
I'm going to drizzle with honey.
This is the sugar-free honey.
You can have half of it.
All right.
Emotional damage.
So this is regular bread.
I just want a little piece.
Very doughy.
There you go.
It's hot.
It is hot.
Can you stand over here?
And then for Marcus, we're going to give him, he likes strawberry jelly,
so I'm going to give Marcus the Walden Farms calorie-free.
Y'all always want to know what these kids think about the substitutes.
We'll let Alex tell you how the sugar-free honey is.
Oh, can you open this, please?
I thought you didn't need me for anything.
Marcus, please open the jelly.
I thought I lived here rent-free.
You kicked me out whenever you wanted.
But here you are asking me to open a jar.
A jar.
You bought the jar.
You own it.
It's yours.
All right.
So we're going to put.
Why does it look like cranberry sauce?
It does kind of look like cranberry sauce.
All right.
So this is the calorie-free strawberry jelly.
You're much more open-minded than I am.
So we're going to let Marcus taste this.
Give me, give me.
Alex, how's the honey?
Really?
How does it taste?
Are you done?
That was the best out of all.
Wonderful.
Alex liked the honey butter toast.
Okay, that's pretty good.
Pretty good?
I'm not lying.
You're not lying.
Am I lying?
You would never know.
All right, y'all.
Well, so Marcus, this was real bread with goat's milk butter and calorie-free strawberry topping.
Now I know if I don't have any jelly, I can't eat honey.
All right.
Especially since that doesn't expire.
Can you let them know how it compares to regular jelly?
Okay, I haven't had regular jelly in months.
But, no, I'm single.
Okay.
Can you, how does it compare?
But.
Looks like you would eat it.
Tastes kind of like it.
Tastes kind of like it?
All right, let's let Alex do his and then we're going to wrap up.
Y'all saw we started with a loaf of bread and it's gone.
All right, Alex.
Very peculiar taste.
Oh, look at the question for you, Marcus.
I think the difference is that this jelly is made from apple cider vinegar.
Does it have a little bit of a tang to it?
Is that what you're tasting?
Yeah.
Marcus, I think they have a question for you.
What?
Okay.
What question?
We'll go back through the questions in a minute.
I don't see a question.
Right here.
We already answered that.
Alex, what did you think about it?
Oh, you did?
Yes.
While I was eating bread?
What did you think about the honey butter?
It was good.
It was better than other bread.
I might eat it because butter is fatty and this is less fatty, I think, and it's good.
Okay.
That made a lot of sense, but it didn't make sense at all.
So, you had sugar-free, dairy-free, and it was good?
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
And Marcus had sugar-free, dairy-free, and it was good?
Yeah.
Coffee.
So, we're going to wrap up.
I just wanted to come on here.
So, you guys always love to see the gong gongs.
They're here.
Hostage number one and hostage number two.
But like I said, we got a loaf of bread.
It is now gone.
Balloons if you want to see me again because I might leave.
So, what do you all think about mom's substitutes?
Not too bad, huh?
Not too shabby.
Not too shabby?
Anything?
Seven out of ten.
Okay.
So, for the goat's butter or for the jam?
Jam on it.
Overall, seven out of ten from Swim Shady.
The plant butter ruined it.
Patrick Mahomes says seven out of ten.
And then Tua Tugabaloa, what would you give it out of ten?
Six.
The plant butter ruined it for me.
But without the plant butter, I'd probably give it an eight.
Okay.
The boys did not like this Kite Hill plant butter.
Unfortunately, no.
But the goat's butter, they said just tasted like butter.
In my opinion, two things.
It just melted.
She got it out like maybe a few minutes ago.
Calorie-free jelly.
And two, the butter had no taste.
I don't know why.
But if you enjoy it, you do you.
No one's judging.
So, one of the things I love about the Walden Farms products, y'all link is in the description.
Yes, you can go now.
Thank you.
Calorie-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, everything-free.
Hello, Mona.
We are wrapping up.
I just had the gong gongs here with me.
I know it is a double today.
I want you guys to enjoy your evening.
But let me see if I missed any questions.
We wanted to know if...
All right.
And on that note, we are done.
Oh, look at me.
I'm in the wrong place.
The boys like the goat's butter.
They like the sugar-free honey.
They do not like the sugar-free jam.
And they did not like the plant-based butter.
All right, you guys.
Enjoy your Sunday.
Just wanted to do a quick pop-up taste test.
We started out with a full loaf of bread.
It is gone.
Two teenage boys, you already know.
I'll be back tomorrow cooking for you.
What am I making?
I don't know.
When am I making it?
I don't know.
But if you like what I'm doing, please consider subscribing.
You should get notifications when I'm live.
I live stream every day and twice a day if I can.
But thank you so much for being here.
See you guys later.
Instagram class is dismissed.
And give your goat's butter and sugar-free honey a try from the kids.
All right?
All right.
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
