we just made these custom full wrap
Tumblr designs that are seamless using
only canva and we'll show you how we did
it right now what is up welcome back you
like to do it Builder to make it so do
we and we have new videos each week two
videos ago we talked about how to get
B2B sales and tumblers are great
corporate gifts last video we went over
how to do a full wrap tumbler engraving
using the xtool ra2 Rotary
and the xtool F1 Ultra this video we're
going to go over how to make a full wrap
seamless Tumblr design using canva so
last week we used our foxy Hughes logo
to create this full wrap Tumblr design
now you might be working with other
businesses local organizations
nonprofits and they might be interested
in creating tumblers for their event or
their business and they're going to want
to use their logo we're going to show
show you how you can create your own
custom wrap tumbler using any images you
want or logos to create seamless pattern
designs I'm going to show you the easy
method using canva I'm going to show you
the cool method using Adobe Illustrator
I'm going to pull some clip art off of
canva and do my full wrap in illustrator
and you can find that over in patreon
with the made it tier membership
Garrett's going to show you exactly how
he created his full wrap Tumblr
step one we're going to gather all of
our supplies we needed a tumbler because
we're making tumblers but we really
needed the dimensions of the engravable
area on the tumbler and to do that we're
going to use our calipers and measure
this area all right I'm going to hold it
for you all right we'll go
overhead I'm going to use my calipers
the first I'm going to measure the first
I'm going to turn them on first I'm
going to measure the height of my
engravable area
it's about
5.6 you guys could see that I'll bring
it in we'll say
5.5 just so we have a little room I
don't need to go over the edge now I'm
going to measure the diameter of this
guy so what you're really going to want
is you need the full measurement the
circumference of the outside so we're
going to do a little math here y so do
you need me to hold it I got it looks to
be about you know I can Screech it
around round looks to be about
3457 we'll say
3.46 and now to get the actual
circumference from our diameter right
here we're going to go ahead and do some
math let's bring it back around so we
have a diameter of 3.46 we need to times
that by pi which is
3.14 and you got to do some quick math
and that's
10.87 in now that is the circumference
or the outside Dimension width of this
tumbler now in X tool I think it calls
it the perimeter but it is the
circumference and you can do the same
thing without having to do the math if
you take the diameter and punch it into
X tool it will give you that but if you
don't have a x tool creative space or a
tool that will do it for you I just gave
you the math take that times it by pi so
it's going to be 5 and 1 12 in tall and
10 and 7/8 in around step two we're
going to make our design I'm going to
meet you over in canva because I'm
creating the canva design and I'm going
to show you some pretty cool tips and
tricks over there so I'll meet you in
canva and if you're a patron at a made
it tier or better I will meet you over
on patreon inside of Adobe
Illustrator here we are in canva the
first thing we're going to do is resize
our canvas we're going to go up here and
we're going to change the width to
10.87 and the height to
5.5 we measured the tumbler and we know
that is exactly the size of our Tumblr
so we're going to put all our images in
this canvas view that you see here then
I'm going to go grab my elements I'm
going into the recently used because I
did a dry run of this so I've already
pulled the elements that I want to use
all I did was search for Which hat which
cat spider I just searched for each one
of these things and I'm going to just
add them back randomly on the canvas for
right now I also use canva I grabbed
some clip art I exported that clip art
and I brought it into Adobe Illustrator
to make my full
wrap and the stars and circles you see
here these are going to be used for
filler this first star actually had a
text box in it and we didn't want that
so you see me grab the second
star next we're going to go ahead and
take the color out of some of our images
you can see here that the Hat has a
little orange in it and the cat has a
little orange eyes because we're doing a
Tumblr it's black and white only so I'm
going to change the orange fill to White
and then everything in Black Will
engrave everything in white will not
engrave and you want everything the same
color black black
black right there are I earlier I was
doing this and there are a couple Shades
of Black so you can see here there's
only one shade of black
now we're actually going to start our
process to wrap the tumbler so we're
going to take our spider web here and
then we're going to put it half onto the
canvas and half off you can see here
when I have it halfway there's a purple
line that came across the edge there and
you can feel it snap into place there
now I'm going to copy it and put it on
the other side and the same plane these
need to be um the same height uh aligned
at the bottom or aligned at the top uh
so that they're on the same plane and
then I'm going to put this one half on
half off here I'm just going to fix that
Circle and get it out of the way the
hidden circles back
yeah and now I'm just going to double
check that these twoo you see these
lines it's is showing that they are um
on the same plane and now I'm just going
to add the other edges I'm going to put
the Hat over here and again I'm going to
slide it till it snaps and I see that
purple line so that I know it is exactly
halfway because I want the exact same
spacing and when these two when these
sides wrap together I want them to look
like one full
image now they don't have to stay half
and half I'm going to show you that in
just a
moment let me get this one lined up and
they're all in the same same plane you
can see that they're aligned at the
bottoms aligned at the tops
and see here I can have this as long as
they're exactly the same when they wrap
and I'm moving them together they will
meet whether I wrap it far left far
right or wrap it meeting in the center
it doesn't really matter as long as now
I move them
together and I'm going to do the same
thing with the cat I'm going to resize
him so that he fits along the edge and
then I'm going to make sure that he's
exact
halfway he's peing
it and then here I'm going to make sure
that he's exactly
halfway and again now they're on the
same plane as long as I move these
together I don't have to have them
exactly 50/50 I can move them a little
off either side as long as they're
moving exactly
together and next we're going to repeat
that same process but we're going to do
that for the tops to the bottoms we're
going to do the same thing so here I'm
going to put the cauldron at the top
half on half
off cauldron half on half off you can
feel it SMN mm and you can see that
purple line it's important to see the
purple line and it's important to make
sure that they're perfectly aligned left
and right here you don't want them off
otherwise when they meet well on the
sides I guess the top and bottom doesn't
really matter because well for this but
for a seamless pattern you well if I'm
going to you'll see later I'm going to
tile this and I do need the tops and the
bottoms to match perfectly but on the
tumbler itself I didn't my Tumblr the
tops and bottoms don't match I just made
sure they matched on the sides where
they would touch but I'm going to show
you a trick here in a minute to make
this even cooler so it's important that
they match top and bottom again I'm just
looking for that purple line sometimes
it's hard to move this thing and get it
exactly centered even nudging it I can't
one pixel isn't enough I need it like
less than a pixel
distance you see me struggling here a
little
bit you're a mouse user try using the
trackpad
maybe I that actually isn't lined up and
I had to go back and fix that um and I
don't think I've got it in this video I
fixed it after the fact and those I
don't know that they're necessarily
aligned left and right too I think I
fixed those later as well so really just
make sure that those are perfectly in
line with each other they're
centered um across the middles and
they're center with each other uh
vertically as
well now again I could have as much of
the cat on or off as I want as long as
when they wrap together they
meet and then I'm just going to
duplicate The Cauldron over here and
fill this space in and now I have my
whole outside edge filled in with
images
wrapping so so now you have a seamless
pattern that's just empty on the inside
right and now this this can go by
quickly all I'm going to do here is
duplicate uh these images and just fill
the inside I'm going to add my spider in
there I'm going to fill in some empty
areas with the witch's broom and I'm
going to just create multiple stars and
circles so that they kind of look like
cauldron bubbles sprinkle the stars and
circles around like a little bit of
glitter yes like a little bit of glitter
that is exactly
right now I'm happy with my image so I'm
going to go and I'm going to download it
by clicking share file type PNG
transparent background and
download now I'm going to bring my image
into creative space Here's my image I'm
going to select open
I'm going to not scale it I want to keep
it its original
size and because we're going to put this
on a tumbler I am going to rotate at
90° so that it will wrap with the
tumbler now let me show you something
super cool we already exported our image
so now we're going to go over and we're
going to upload it and bring it back in
as an upload file this is what we
exported earlier and I'm going to add
this image onto my canvas here and I'm
going to tile it so here it is and I'm
going to put it over here in the left
quadrant and I want to make sure I'm
going to resize it so it's perfectly in
the top left quadrant you're going to
look for those purple cross hairs in the
center and bottom I'm going to hold the
ALT key and duplicate it I'm going to
shift copy both of them and now look how
perfect that is those patterns line up
perfectly and now I have four of the
original design in the same shape of our
tumbler and this is what we're actually
going to engrave this version wait
there's
more we're going to do it again we're
going to download this one and we're
going to bring it back in and we're
going to put eight images on one so
we're going to we're going to put the
four tiles again using this image just
keeps getting smaller and Tighter yeah
isn't this so cool and that's what a
seamless pattern will do for you you you
can tile it as many times as you want
again I'm going to drag it I'm going to
upload it drag it under our canvas and
you want to make sure it's in that top
left quadrant here and you're looking
for that purple line in the center
horizontally and vertically duplicate
the image select both of them hold the
ALT key duplicate it again and look at
that now it's even tinier
[Music]
step three engrave your tumbler we've
already done that we showed you how to
do that in last week's video we showed
you how to use that re2 Pro rotary tool
and the F1 Ultra to engrave your tumbler
and we've done that already and these
things look great this thing looks great
it's amazing I can't even see my seam it
went right through the skull the bat and
the poison and you can't even tell I
can't see your seam either but I like my
Tumblr better because yours a little uh
the images are very funny you can see
that this is the design that I made and
that's the design that he made I went
with some
scorpions a bat an eyeball a spider a
snake you know and mine are say it's a
cute little cat and a cauldron and a
little spider web mine is definitely you
can tell this is a boy design and this
is a girl design they're both in the
spirit of Halloween just different
Halloween and remember we did our image
for this Tumblr we took the main image
We Shrunk it down we put four of them in
our design space in the wrap size of the
tumbler and we created an even more
detailed image so there is no Blank
Space here where the seam could go we
really are matching image to image and
they're touching and they meet in the
same spot and it is a perfect wrap
tumbler
same it was pretty easy to do now if you
want to make custom gifts or custom wrap
tumblers you can do that you don't have
to buy your own images I just showed you
how you can make yours super easy in
canva I mean that would take a corporate
gift to the next level being able to
wrap their logo some type of way man
talking about big bucks right there and
a big thanks to all of our patrons we
love you guys and that is the best way
to support this channel we have monthly
Zoom calls we have ai classes where
you'll actually get to learn how to do
this exact Tumblr over there this week
and um we have our Discord Channel we
have our super secret Facebook group
it's just a huge community of people so
join us over on patreon you won't be
disappointed you're going to find lots
of help lots of good information extra
content thanks for picking that up my
tumbler caught my eye and I got
distracted forgot what I was saying so I
about out of time I got to go fill this
thing up with
something and we will see you next week
we'll do it build it and make it again
yeah it's 5:00 somewhere yeah that's
right that's where I'm heading now
actually I'm going to edit this so that
might actually make editing a little
easier
