Hey guys, welcome to my channel Tokyo Foodie Sarah
where you can explore Japan with a Japanese local.
Today I am at Ueno Summer Festival
and I'm gonna show you what it's like.
Summer in Japan is hot but it's amazing
because there are numerous Natsu Matsuri
or summer festivals held all over the country.
At this festival in Ueno, Tokyo
you can find displays of Furin or wind bells.
The refreshing sounds of these bells help you feel cooler.
Yay, I got a can of highball.
Yes, cheers.
That's so good on a hot day like today.
I got a Nikumaki Onigiri.
That means meat wrapped around rice.
Let's try this.
Oh my god, the meat is so juicy
and the rice is seasoned.
Wow, that is amazing.
Next up is the cheese hot dog.
I don't know how you pronounce it
but anyway it's the Korean famous thing
with the cheese string.
I'm not drunk yet.
That was such a fail
but it's crispy and cheesy and nice.
Okay, now this time I got some takoyaki octopus balls.
It's so big.
So gooey, so nice.
Yay, I got some kakigori, shaved ice.
When you're at a summer festival in Japan
this is a must because it's like 32 degrees right now
and it's freaking hot.
So this is a great dessert.
Don't miss out on the fun activities at the summer festival.
You can get character themed yo-yos,
super balls and even test your skills
at the shooting gallery.
I got a ramune soda.
Maybe I should aim for something bigger, yeah?
Is this a scam?
That was fun and it was close
and I did hit it twice
but it didn't fall
so it could just be a very heavy thing
and it could be a scam, I don't know.
So this is called ramune
and it's like such a classic summer festival drink in Japan.
It's just like, you know, sweet soda
but the thing is it's really interesting to open this.
So inside you see there's like a glass ball inside
and you'll use this to kind of push the glass downwards
so that it opens the bottle.
So let's do it.
It might spill but we'll see.
Okay, not too bad.
So refreshing.
This summer festival in Ueno is available
until the 12th of August
and the food stalls and the small stalls
are only available on the weekends,
Friday, Saturdays and Sundays.
So if you want to enjoy this,
make sure you come until the 12th of August on a weekend.
And remember, there are even bigger summer festivals
in other parts of Tokyo throughout the season.
Make sure to check them out
when you visit Japan in the summer.
Alright guys, that's it for the video today.
