Our second day in Ha Long Bay was full of thrilling adventures,
endless caves, and delicious food. Join us as we explore
all that a luxury overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay has to offer.
Yo, what's up? We're Hannah and Chad. In August of 2018,
we earned over 2 million points, quit our jobs, and booked round the world
business class tickets. We hope you'll join our journey around the globe.
Let's go do some Tai Chi.
We're up this morning to do Tai Chi here on the boat.
I think it started like three minutes ago, so...
So we've just finished Tai Chi. It was good. It was a little bit shorter than I
would have hoped, but it was fun. Kind of a great start to our morning.
Now we're gonna go get breakfast.
They are serving pho for breakfast and I can't be more excited. I'm so excited.
So today we are transferring boats to the day boat.
Wow. There's the day boat. And we are gonna go explore some caves
and grab some lunch and that's all I know.
Okay, so we just moved from the boat we slept on to a day boat.
I think they're going and taking the boat back to pick up other people
and then we're gonna enjoy our time like exploring caves today
and actually eating a lunch on this boat. And it's like the same as the other boat
except just without beds. So it's really nice and pretty in here.
Casual. Casual boat hopping.
For the next hour we are going about seven or eight kilometers to a fishing village
and then we'll head out, have some relaxing time,
eat lunch, go swimming, and then head back to the boat where we can relax again.
We just arrived at a fishing village. We're gonna hop into a boat
and kind of explore the area. It's like a full town just in the middle of Halong Bay
like tucked in the corner of all these beautiful rock formations.
We're gonna show you by film so we don't get the camera wet because it is starting to rain.
Thank you.
How is it?
It's just a crazy light.
So this area in Halong Bay has over 2,000 islands and it was formed over 230 million years ago
but what we see today with Halong Bay with all the rock formations sticking out
happened about 7,000 years ago when the water, the sea level, kind of rose into this area.
And really interesting, they have these schools here right behind me. There's like a school
and our tour guide kind of explained to us how it used to not be where there were schools
out here but they found that being able to read and write and education was important so they
build these tiny schools. It looks to be like five rooms just so that the children can have an
education. It's such a simple life. It's sad because the people are poor but they seem so,
it's like a quiet happiness.
We're headed to a cave. Thank you.
Look that's a new formation of a stalagmite. See where it's wet?
All right I need to apologize because all of the film that we're gonna get in here
is got these like layers going through it. I've made the settings the best that they'll be
but you're still gonna have to unfortunately see like black and white lines going through.
It's so dark in here and the lights, it's just the way it is. It's just the way it is.
Okay so there's, these are like active stalactites that are dripping water down
and the limestone dripping down directly below it and the stalagmites are growing.
You can see because they're wet so they're gonna, they're gonna keep growing if water keeps dripping.
Go? Can I go up? You go, you. I feel like I'm breaking walls here.
No babe, you're killing it. Okay. I might have gotten down but,
up it is. Whoa, this is awesome.
Oh they're each their own channel. Like it's its own tunnel. Yeah. This is crazy.
That's so cool. Sparkly. It smells sparkly. It smells sparkly. It's pretty neat.
Probably not. Watch your head. It goes back way far. Holy crap. How far? Oh my gosh.
This is massive. Is this cave ever in? No. We're gonna end up like those Philippine kids.
Oh seriously? Wow. Oh you're pointing at my face. Nice job babe. Should we catch up to everybody?
Yeah. Cool cave.
They're literally just covering the entire ground of the cave. Like every single inch has them.
Look at this. What are you doing? I'm trying to catch squid off season. What's the technique?
Oh you just slide down and put it up. The way I've been told is pop,
lock, and drop it. Oh my gosh. It's so easy.
What'd you catch? Kind of jellyfish. All right let's look at it.
Hey Adam, did you want to touch it? No.
It's our third and final day of our Halong Bay cruise. It's been a whirlwind of activities.
It's been so much fun and it's gone by way too fast. We're doing our last thing today.
It's a hike to a cave in one of these giant massive rocks and then we're gonna come back,
eat some lunch, and then head back to Hanoi for a night.
It's very stinky. What? Surprised. This is huge.
I should have worn a sweater.
So this area of Halong Bay has over 2,000 islands.
