In today's vlog, we hike Takakkaw Falls and the Iceline Trails in Yoho National Park. It was cold, it rained, it snowed, it was muddy and it was pretty intense... but it was a lot of fun! We ate wild berries, were scared of seeing a bear, and hung out in the clouds for quite some time. Perhaps our favourite hike so far.
Thanks for watching! 😄
We upload a new adventure 3 times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday!

👩❤️👨US: We met at LaSalle Secondary School in Kingston Ontario and we’ve been together for over 8 years now. Keith comes from a bilingual military family and Devon from a Kingston family of teachers. We made it through Queen’s University together where Keith studied Mechanical Engineering and Devon, Concurrent Education and Global Development. Right now we’re travelling across Canada in a Dodge Caravan for the entire month but come January 2022 we have bigger plans in mind. Our goal is to #travel full time, become #selfemployed, and #explore the world while sharing what we’ve learned and capturing our experiences. 🌎✈️📚
We don't know but it's fine. It is scary though. Holy. Where is this?
No, it's a... is it? It's snowing in August. We're Keith and Deb. This past year
we started a YouTube channel to make the most of each day.
Most recently we have converted a 2011 Dodge Caravan and have been traveling across Canada from Ontario all the way to BC.
Subscribe to follow along.
We made it. We're at the falls. We're about to do a very long hike. It's almost noon.
Do we know how long it is? 15 kilometers? Almost 16 I think. It's 15.6.
So we have to get going. We've been wanting to do this hike.
Sorry Deb. We've been wanting to do this hike since we passed through and since we went to Kate and Cody's. Like two weeks ago.
So we're very excited. It's gonna be a great hike. We're gonna start by seeing the waterfall, which is really cool.
Here's the map. We need this with us because we don't know where we're going and there's no service here.
Yeah, which I'll show you.
So this is the parking lot that we're starting at right here.
Takakoa Falls is right up this area, 400 meters away.
We want to do that first and then we're doing this big old loop to Celeste Lake Trail.
That was not Celeste Lake, that little blue lake we saw.
Celeste Lake, Glacier Lake and then keep on. We're gonna climb all the way up here.
Halfway up the ice line. Hiking in the middle of nowhere. And do this second half.
So this whole loop is gonna be us. We're gonna come back to Whiskey Jack Falls.
Thanks again Kate for the map. It's been very helpful. I'm already cold. We also don't have bear spray.
So I'll be yelling a lot.
We'll be good. Unless we don't do this. It's freezing. I feel like we need gloves and a tube.
It is maybe 8 degrees. It feels like 4.
We have our down jackets.
We learned that Takakoa Falls, I'm sorry if I'm pronouncing that wrong, actually. Takakoa, I think.
It actually means magnificent in Korean language, which is really cool.
But we're not filming the cameras in the plastic bag.
We're good.
We are officially starting our super long hike.
Good luck to us. We're gonna make lots of noise because of bears.
Oh, so yeah.
It'll be good.
So we're following a river for a long time and then eventually we're gonna be hitting the mountains.
This should be pretty intense.
And we'll see how the weather changes because it's like the mountains. The weather can change any time.
How you doing?
Got music in your pocket.
So far so good.
It's just like a light rain. It hasn't been bad. I'm feeling warmer now.
The path is actually really really nice and it has been gradually uphill but not bad at all.
So it's been it's been really nice. Yeah, very very well kept this park.
That was Laughing Falls.
It's so cool walking. We're walking at the bottom of the Yoho Valley and it's amazing.
This is so so picturesque everything is.
Look at this milky blue white glacier water right here.
Turns out that was not Laughing Falls. That was just rapids.
This is Laughing Falls.
Now we're laughing.
So we just met this foreign hiker who's coming back down from camping at Twin Falls, which isn't too far from here.
And what did he say, Dev?
He said someone recently fed a bear. So there's a bear that's like coming up to humans.
I think we'll be okay. I hope I would.
And he did find fresh bear poop.
We're just gonna make a lot of noise and it'll be okay.
Yeah.
Uxol!
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
It is scary though.
Uxol!
Blueberry.
I'm gonna try a blueberry fresh from BC Mountain.
Where is this?
Is it?
No, it's a blueberry.
It's a blueberry.
That's a blueberry.
That's a good blueberry.
We just passed the trail marker and we are now on the Celeste Lake.
You can keep going north to do the whole ice line.
But we're only doing part of it.
And we're gonna go see this lake and then cut back up to the ice lake.
Classic Keith and Dev.
That was not Celeste Lake.
That little blue lake we saw.
I didn't think it was.
I did. It wasn't very...
I don't know.
But there's a lake here and it's beautiful.
This one's pretty cool. Very alpine.
This is what I was thinking we'd find.
Devon's having water.
Water break by the water.
Okay, not gonna lie.
We're a bit confused. We're getting the map out.
This is another lake.
Over there, we just met some hikers,
was another lake.
That we thought was Celeste.
So maybe we haven't even passed Celeste yet.
Are there three lakes on the way to Celeste Lake?
Which section is it?
No, there's only one.
This has to be where we're at.
It's huge too.
We don't know.
But it's fine. We're gonna keep going.
Maybe these lakes are too small.
Maybe that's true.
That Celeste Lake looks like a big one.
Actually, the temperature is getting cold.
So I'm gonna put on my down under my rain jacket.
But I will solidly look like a blueberry.
A blueberry.
A big giant blueberry.
I'm gonna be a raspberry.
First of all, we think it's starting to snow.
And our first sighting of Iceland.
It is. Right over there where the trees stop.
It's just so beautiful here.
I was just telling Devin,
walking through these trails,
it's almost as if we're guests of the mountain.
Because this is just wildlife.
This is just wild territory.
But we managed to walk it
because of the trail here.
It's amazing to be here.
What a magnificent view.
This is so cool.
Honestly, we can't really see much
because we're literally in a cloud.
We can see what's in front of us.
It's snowing in August.
It's nuts. I say that a lot.
It is beautiful. It is stunning.
We're gonna finally eat our PB&J sandwiches.
Yeah, it's definitely lunch break.
We're starving.
And we can't stop for too long because
it's cold up here.
We still have a lot of hiking to do.
Sandwich for Geese.
Two minutes, folks.
We're gonna continue so we don't get cold.
Yeah, definitely our fastest lunch break so far.
But it is snowing.
My hands look blue because of the grocery bag.
It's not that cold.
We did it again,
and we were like, woo, glaciers, yeah!
And then we get here and it's like...
An actual glacier.
And that's just gonna keep happening.
It's typical us.
We saw the falls.
And I think what's really cool
about it being really cloudy is that
when things appear, it's just magical
because obviously there's things all around us.
That being said, we are going to put the camera away
because it's getting more rainy and the camera's getting pretty wet.
Yeah, we want the camera to get damaged.
And there's also people coming
so we should keep walking.
We're gonna GoPro the rest.
I don't know if it's gonna be that exciting.
We're back under the trees.
We're not too far, I think, from the bottom of the valley.
But look at this.
There's a canopy right above us. It's so cool.
We're in the jungle, Dev.
So many different climates.
I mean, what are they called? Ecosystems?
Ecosystems.
Because climate says the whole area.
Very cool, though.
I'm soaked.
I mean, I'm not soaked
through, though. My underwear's dry.
Look!
1.1 kilometers!
Yay! We're almost done!
Although this has been super fun, it's been great.
But we're a little wet and hungry.
Uxor!
I think we're pretty much at the valley floor, Devi.
Woohoo!
We did it.
I can't believe that. I'm so proud of us.
17K. I think I pulled my hamstring.
I will be stiff tomorrow. Holy crap.
It was amazing, though.
You have to admit.
Five hours and 25 minutes.
Pretty good.
That was a wet,
cold,
long,
great, fun, amazing,
sore,
lonely.
We saw snow in April. Today has been
incredible. It's August.
Sorry, they just got me confused.
Today has been awesome. Vanny's right here.
We're going to end our video here.
We'll see you tomorrow for another adventure.
Thanks for watching!
Hiking in the middle of
nowhere!
Nowhere!
Teenage Wasteland!
Oh yeah!
Teenage Wasteland!
Are you filming?
Yes.
I'm kind of confused
where we are.
It's okay. I know what we're doing.
We're going back.
Something bit my butt.
Owie.
Uxor!
We're good.
