My gosh, it is a beautiful morning here in Utah. It's really awesome to be waking
up here. I've been at the same campsite that I left you at last week. I am just
outside of Zion National Park, kind of in between Springdale and Hurricane, and
I've been hunkered down here for the last couple of days because the winds
have been super, super strong. Guesting 40 to 60 miles per hour. So yeah, I've
stayed put. I do not drive in high winds. I did go into town and run some errands
and resupply, but just came right back here. Winds have calmed down, so today is
going to be a moving day. I'm going to be heading to someplace that I've never
been. It's a place that's highly photographed, really beautiful, but I've
never seen it with my own eyes. I'm interested to get my own take on this
iconic location. It's a little bit touristy, but I definitely want to lay my
own eyes on it. So that's what we'll be doing today.
Not a very pretty egg, but it'll taste good.
And a little slice of Swiss cheese.
You just never know who you're gonna run into out here. I ran into some folks from
a channel on YouTube that I'm a fan of called Matt's Off-Road Recovery. They are
based out of Utah, and they specialize in recovering people from remote and off-road
locations who have either broken down or gotten stuck. So I ran into these Utah
locals. They have a pretty nice channel themselves. What do you guys do on your
It's pretty amazing to see what they do out there. If you didn't know this,
AAA will not come rescue you from a dirt road. If you are on a dirt road, they will
not come. So we need people like them to come rescue people like me when we get
ourselves into a pickle. If you haven't seen their channel, check it out.
I've made it to my next campground, and it's definitely not a destination campsite,
but it is a convenience campsite. And it is very near where I'm going to be
visiting tomorrow morning, and that is Horseshoe Bend. Horseshoe Bend is a place
that I've wanted to see for a very long time, and it's time to check it off the
list. I'm just outside of Page, Arizona, and I know I said I was staying in Utah.
However, this is just barely in Arizona, and I won't be here too long, but it's
something that I wanted to see. So now's the time. It looks like my camping
options for seeing Horseshoe Bend were between here and Walmart, and I chose
this spot because it has much better views than Walmart. It actually has a
nice view, but it's right off the highway, so that is the downside. I'm sure the
noise will die down as the evening progresses. Anyways, I'm really excited to
see Horseshoe Bend in the morning. I did some research as to whether sunrise or
sunset was the best time to go, and I saw more that said sunrise was a better time.
So that is what I'm gonna do. I can't wait. Real quick, I want to thank the
sponsor of today's video, Anchor Power Stations. I have been using the Anchor
product for many years, probably about seven years. I take the smaller units on
my backpacking trips. It is my go-to for portable power. It is a brand that I fully
back and support, and today we are going to talk about these two bad boys. Both
the 535 and 521 offer superior durability with premium lithium iron
phosphate battery at its core. The Anchor 535 powers multiple devices at once with
four AC outlets, one fast-charging USB-C port, three USB-A ports, and one vehicle
class outlet. With a quick recharge in 2.4 hours, the Anchor 535 is a versatile
power source to power your everyday devices. It also offers a power saving
mode. Switching on power saving mode enables the power station to turn off
right away when your devices are fully charged. The Anchor 521 has a long life
battery. According to internal lab tests, the product is designed to be used for
10 years or 3,000 times with at least 80% battery capacity remaining. It also
has a 60 watt high-speed USB-C input and output. And both the 535 and 521 come
with built-in light bars to illuminate the way in the event of emergencies or
blackouts. Living in my truck camper full-time, a portable power solution is a
must. And even if you live in a sticks-and-bricks home, it's always good
to have an emergency backup power solution. To find out more about these
units, click the link below and thank you once again to Anchor for sponsoring this
video. Now back to the show. After a dinner of leftovers from the night
before, I decided to explore the slick rock right in front of the campground.
And to my surprise, it was very cool. I underestimated this campsite. There was
an awesome new view around every corner which just kept me going. It was an early
alarm at 5 a.m. and I was anxious for the short drive to finally see the
iconic Horseshoe Bend. An official good morning to you from the beautiful Walmart
parking lot in Page, Arizona. Holy moly, Horseshoe Bend is absolutely spectacular.
I'm really glad that I got up at 5 o'clock in the morning to bolt down
there. It was absolutely worth it. There were only about seven people there when
I got there so that was perfect. And I think the lighting was absolutely
beautiful. I waited until the sun filled in more and I really enjoyed it when it
was just dusk and there was very little light in there. It was just stunning. I
only wish I would have had a little bit wider lens on my Sony a6400. I had an 18
millimeter lens. It did an okay job but my phone did a better job. My
iPhone 11 has a wide-angle setting so that is where you saw the panning shots
that were really wide and it does a pretty nice job. Not quite as good as the
Sony as far as picture quality but still 4k, still beautiful. It's what I use to
shoot all of my dashboard shots. A lot of people ask me what I use for that and I
do use my Sony or excuse me my iPhone 11. This morning for breakfast it's
hard-boiled eggs that I made last night because I knew I was gonna be in a rush
this morning and finish up my coffee. Barely drank any just to make sure that
I got down there. So today the plan is to go to a really cool campsite and I'm
hoping that I'll be able to get a site there. I'll be heading back into Utah so
my fingers are crossed. I can't wait to show it to you.
This view of Monument Valley and of course you had people running out to the
middle of it. I just stayed on the side of the road and got my shot. It is a
spectacular view. These are the traffic jams I find myself in nowadays. I'm at my
new campsite which has an amazing view and I'm waiting to share it with you
until the lighting gets a little bit better. So I'll close out this video with
hopefully some beautiful shots of this view. There's a bend right in front of me
right from my campsite which looks very similar to Horseshoe Bend. Very cool. It's
called Goosenecks State Park and I found out about this site through my friend
Martina. I was supposed to meet her here last week. Unfortunately I didn't get to
do that because of my truck maintenance. However I decided to kind of retrace the
steps that I was supposed to have done with them. It's been amazing. I've gone to
three campgrounds in this video. I started out near Zion National Park and
went to Page, Arizona and now here near Mexican Hat, Utah. I always love seeing
brand new places. I got to see Monument Valley, Horseshoe Bend. It's been an
awesome trip and then yesterday's or last night's campsite wound up being
much better than I had originally anticipated. It's getting a little breezy
here. I'm up on a mesa so it can get windy in these areas. Anyhow the Beehive
campground there was that trail I just thought I'd go explore on those boulders
and it wound up being this really cool trail and I just kept going and finding
awesome things around every turn. So I was much more impressed with it than I
initially said. And I'm closing it all out here at the Goosenecks State Park
near Mexican Hat. I can't wait to show you these views but we'll have to wait
until a little bit later. For dinner tonight I'm just having a salad in a bag
so it's nothing exciting to show you guys. This is dinner tonight and I'll
spice it up a little bit by adding some chicken and some black beans on top. This
has been a pretty eventful trip so there hasn't been a lot of cooking just kind
of easy stuff and I'm feeling pretty pretty knackered from the last couple of
days so I'm gonna take it easy tonight and enjoy my beautiful view. I'm gonna go
ahead and wrap up this video but stay tuned for those views. If you haven't
subscribed to the channel please consider subscribing. If you like this
video please give it a thumbs up and let me close out with some beautiful
views for you. See you on the next one guys. Bye bye.
