Woo!
But it is huge.
Ready for a shower?
Yeah.
We could also just shower outside in the rain.
I was just going to say that.
Yeah, this weather should clear up in the next hour.
The weather is only an hour?
Yeah, we're barely getting the side of the cell and it's going to be gone in an hour.
Oh nice.
So you guys, we've been kind of popping around places to sleep in the city because it's free
and I actually slept at this Planet Fitness one night.
And we kind of just like find a different Planet Fitness or a Cracker Barrel or a Walmart.
But we are, we're done.
We're done.
How are you feeling?
I'm ready to get out of the city.
Yeah, me too.
So we're going to, we're going to get a shower.
Yeah, you need one.
That's not nice.
It's true, but it's not nice.
See you in a second boys.
Hold down the fort, okay?
I love you.
Luckily there is a lot of like good hiking and stuff.
We took them up Picasso Peak last night.
We went all the way up.
Oh, it is raining.
And yeah, we had some fun, so.
Don't worry, dogs aren't cooped up either.
Wow, it's really raining.
Ready to shower?
Yes.
A little hack if you're weird like me and you don't like full bars of soap that are all nasty and wet.
You know, I got to like put them away in a box or something.
Cut your soap up into little pieces and take one piece at a time.
I don't know if that's a hack, but it feels good for me.
All right, now we're ready for the day.
Hi Hank.
Hi Max.
Hi boys.
You ready to get out of Phoenix?
I am.
My guitar has become a towel holder.
And I know you're wondering, can she shred yet?
The answer is no, still working on it.
All right.
Are you guys ready for our party?
Yeah, I am too.
Okay, we need to make some decisions here.
Light rain stops in 41 minutes.
Oh, it looks good the rest of the week.
So...
So I just checked the weather.
We have a cold front for the next three days.
Do you want to start at Saddle Mountain or start at the Hot Springs?
Let's do Saddle Mountain today.
Yeah, and then, okay.
Yeah, we're going to go to Saddle Mountain.
I'm really excited because I've never been there before.
And apparently there's incredible fire agate pounding
and petroglyphs and all these different things.
So we're going to find out right now.
Are you excited?
Oh my God, we're going to find so many rocks.
I know he's excited to find rocks.
Oh yeah.
Are you trying to hide your face?
You don't want to show your excitement to everybody?
Okay, sorry, sorry.
I'm not going to embarrass you.
Look, even this one's hiding right now.
What the heck is this?
I love you.
Okay, let's find a spot to sleep.
Ooh, hour drive.
Let's get going.
BLM is a really beautiful option for free wild camping.
Often you'll need a fire ring or a designated spot,
but it's most of the time free.
So we're very excited about that.
It's always so cool.
The rougher the road gets,
but we want to get to the base of the mountain here.
You'll see why in just a sec.
We're just going to park right here to start.
Okay, we've made it to our first stop.
I'm very excited.
This is a really cool place and we've made it right to the base
where the petroglyphs are supposed to be.
Here we go, boys.
Oh, it's like the rain stopped just in time.
It's a little windy, but it's beautiful.
Oh, look at that.
Yep, we got another guy showing up.
Yeah, I don't think we're going to camp here.
You ready to look for some petroglyphs?
What's the trail over there?
Oh, that's a good question.
Hang on, let's walk up.
Looks like there's a trail going that way and there's a trail going that way.
I think we go...
Well, hang on, there's a sign right here.
Let's see.
Well, we're in the right spot.
This place is so popular.
I bet you it's been so picked over.
We'll probably find more on the west side of Saddle Mountain
if we camp over there tonight, don't you think?
Fire agates.
They're beautiful.
They're like this really bright, almost see-through...
You'll see it.
When you see it, you'll know.
I've got to show you a photo.
That is what fire agate looks like.
So we're looking for something that looks like that,
but then it can polish into that.
Really?
Boys, you see any petroglyphs?
So we're looking down.
We're going to look for this type of...
It's most likely going to be this type of rock
with something etched into it that's that color.
You know, there's probably some really cool ones
back here on the walls.
Go find them, Hank.
Go find them, camp.
Come check this out.
Excuse me, camp.
There's fire agate right here.
So people were getting into the rock
because there's a ton of it throughout these
almost like light green stone
that I believe...
That would be rhyolite, right?
Like, oh my gosh, look at that.
That's full-blown fire agate right there.
Let's look up if it's legal to mine
and crack into the rocks here
because if it is, we could probably snag a piece.
Ooh, and some crystal here, too.
Wow!
Holy crap, look at this!
There's a bunch on this side.
Right?
Okay, how about this?
Let's find the petroglyphs,
and then we're going to do some searching
to see if it's legal to nail these out of here.
No.
Ch-chisel.
Hammer.
Chisel.
Hammer.
Chisel.
Hammer.
Say hammer, chisel really fast.
Hammer, chisel.
But you can do that.
I can't.
You can do this really fast, though.
There's an agony you can't.
It's not appropriate.
You find anything, bud?
Wow, it's really windy,
but look at this view.
Wow.
Okay, so we looked it up,
and it looks like it is generally legal.
You can take up to 25 pounds
of any semi-precious stone per day
as long as it's not for commercial use,
but we want to do a little bit more digging
before we throw a chisel into these rocks
just in case there's, like, some exception.
So that's epic.
The first petroglyphs.
Let's find these petroglyphs.
Want to go to the top of there?
All right, come on, boys.
Go climb it.
Woo!
Camper.
You dogs are crazy.
My dogs are mammoth.
Rodney, dude.
Really?
Come on down, please.
You are taking after your brother, Camper.
Oh, my God.
Look at this little psycho.
Come on, Camp.
Look at him.
He's so sure-footed, too.
Four-wheel drive.
Four-wheel dog.
All right, let's go to the safe way, boys.
Come on.
Whoa.
I love rock climbing.
You guys, this is pretty steep.
You're just scaling your way up.
No problem, huh?
They make me look so puny.
Don't worry.
If you fall, I'll get it on film.
Yeah.
Cameraman that never dies.
Thank you.
Excuse me.
Mom made it.
Excuse me.
Mommy made it.
Oh, kid, dude.
They're giving you emotional support.
All right, boys, let's go.
Excuse me.
This is cute, though.
Come on, Mom.
Thank you.
He's still trying to pull me up.
Wow, this is amazing.
Woo!
Can you see the petroglyphs from up here?
There's some firework down there, too, but it's on the cliffside.
We should grab our tools and come back up here in the morning.
Oh, wow.
Look at this vein.
Holy moly.
That's what I'm saying.
Oh, my gosh.
It's like this big.
All right, well, let's come back up.
I don't want to lose it in case somebody else comes walking up and takes my rock.
Nobody's coming up here tonight.
Someone's going to come get this rock.
The sun sets in two hours.
Look at this.
Okay, you ready?
You look like a monkey using a tool.
I feel like a monkey trying to get this fire agate.
We'll come back for it tomorrow.
No, I need it now.
This is it.
Yeah, we got it.
This is amazing.
Ooh, that's a good camp spot right there.
And we could just walk up here in the morning.
That looks perfect.
Oh, yeah.
That's the one we're going to.
We still have to find petroglyphs.
So beautiful out here.
Massive cactus.
Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure this is the largest cactus species in the world.
Sounds about right.
Some of them are like 25 feet tall.
At least.
Look at that one.
That one's massive.
It's pretty big.
Should I get right next to it?
Here, I'll get right next to it for size reference.
Yeah, you should try and hug it.
I'm not like you.
Someone who literally touches cactus every time you see it.
You got to test it.
That's big.
That is huge.
Cool.
That's what she said.
Come on, let's do this.
I got a pocket full of agates.
Uh-oh.
Well, this path was not to the petroglyphs, so maybe the other path is.
It's a rock mountain.
Yeah, that was Chisel Mountain over there.
We're searching, but we haven't seen any petroglyphs yet.
There's that trail, too.
I'm so confused.
Found it.
You found it?
Nice job.
Let's see this.
Oh, wow.
There must have been a wall at some point.
You know, some of those rocks that we saw over there that had little things in it could have been petroglyphs.
Like pieces of stuff, but this is amazing.
Wow.
What do you think this means?
I don't know what I'm looking at.
Do you know anything about petroglyphs?
Not these ones.
Wow, this is amazing.
Okay, what do you say we take our vehicles and we find that there was that big opening on the other side of this mountain?
Let's do it.
Yeah?
All right, let's just get it over there.
Should we Snap Magic it?
Sure.
Okay, you ready?
To our new camp spot.
Home, sweet home.
Camp Daddy's got it all set up.
Although, so this spot, it was pretty rough getting in.
Like, that's very steep.
You can't really tell because of the camera angle, but my van barely made it up.
And it's steep all around, so we actually had to kind of separate ourselves a little bit.
But it was perfect timing because we're about to get an epic sunset.
And I bought bone broth for dinner.
What's on the menu tonight, Camp Daddy?
Tonight we are making what's called egg roll bowls.
Oh.
All right, look at that masterpiece.
Look at Camp Daddy did it again.
I'll tell you how it is.
He's getting a fork right now, but...
Wow!
We're big fans.
Here you go.
This is really good, thank you.
Thank you, sir.
You want to sit down?
Sure.
I feel so lucky that I get to live this life and go on these big adventures.
But honestly, a huge part of that is thanks to our video sponsors, Week In and Week Out.
So a huge, huge thank you to this week's video sponsor, DraftKings.
I'm actually dating someone who really enjoys putting bedding into things.
We'll be playing a friendly game of backgammon.
And next thing you know, I am doing his dishes for the next six weeks, technically.
But one of the biggest events of the year is here.
It is the biggest week in horse racing and the fastest two minutes in sports.
We have the Kentucky Derby.
Whether you're in it for the big hats, the ponies, mint juleps,
or you're there to pick a color, pick a rider, or pick a horse,
you can just feel the excitement.
Here's where DraftKings comes in.
All customers get a shot of a share of $1,000,000 if your horse wins the Kentucky Derby
with an eligible bet of $5 or more.
On DraftKings, sign up using my promo code.
I will put it in the description or I will place it right here on the screen.
And thanks again, DraftKings, for sponsoring today's video.
Rodney, come here.
Cheers.
Boop.
What do you think?
It's pretty good, huh?
Good recipe. Easy.
And healthy, for the most part.
It is.
Yeah.
I mean, what's not healthy about it?
I don't even know anymore.
Want to know what I was thinking?
Thinking about those rocks up there, weren't you?
How did you know?
Justin, do you hear that?
That sounded like something was dying.
There's a sound coming from the mountains over there.
And it's not pretty.
I've never heard a scream like that.
Desert's a crazy place, y'all.
I'm going to close this, make sure Rodney's safe.
I'm a camper.
I feel like that's a natural thing to do, right?
Follow the sound of something sounding like it's dying.
What could go wrong?
Right now, all you can probably hear is the airplane going above.
My best guess is a big cat.
What do you think?
Have to hear it again.
Yeah.
If it happens again, hopefully the camera will be on so you guys can hear it.
That was insane.
Alright, load up.
Come on in.
Hi, Cam.
I missed you, buddy.
Hi, Cam.
Which one are we doing?
Netflix.
Three.
Lights?
Turn the lights down low.
Yeah.
Come out with the boy.
Alright, up.
You got it, Rodney.
Come on.
Big jump.
Oh, good job.
That's like twice as high, four times as high.
What a good vertical.
Hang on, I'm going to go to this side of Camper.
What?
Girls aren't allowed up here.
Rodney doesn't agree.
This side is probably smarter.
Hi, Cam.
He's pissed.
No boys allowed, huh?
Camper.
No girls allowed, huh?
I'm Camper's pet now.
He's like, this is so stupid.
What a family.
Okay, I guess I'll go back to my girl spot.
I'm going to go down like this.
You're going to break something.
What's up?
We're good.
Morning, Camper.
Morning.
Hi, Rodney.
Hey, Rodney.
Okay, you guys ready to get up?
Morning.
Oh, Rodney, you excited?
Yeah, you excited to go outside?
You excited?
I don't know what that man needs.
I need to go over with offerings.
What a beautiful day.
Good morning.
Morning, love.
I got something for you right here.
I missed you so much.
Right in the...
I missed you so much.
Right in the kisser?
No, right here.
Right in the...
Oh.
Where it smells good.
Just what I needed.
Camper, did you find a stick?
My children made those.
True, true.
Cheers.
That looks good.
Breakfast ice cream cone.
Mmm.
You need to feed the machine to go rock hounding.
We're going to find so many fire agates.
And then go to the hot springs.
Heck yeah.
Let's get changed up.
Although I guess I could have rock hounded in this.
Side note, one of the best conspiracy theory road stops on the planet.
Definitely.
I bought a t-shirt, it was that good.
It was wild.
Honestly, I don't think you would like it unless you're like wild, where you're just like,
wow, dinosaurs, aliens, they connect.
Oh my gosh, aliens are still running everything.
Yeah, it's a big one.
Anyways, I don't know if I would find more rocks or less rocks with my alien dinosaur shirt.
I like it so much I bought two.
Two t-shirts.
She hasn't taken it off since.
It's actually true, I wear it a lot.
I'm not like a fan of smothering on sunscreen, so often I'll just wear a long sleeve shirt
and stay out of the sun that way.
Oh, what is it?
Let's get our backpack and our tools.
Don't fall out.
All right, let's get our gear.
We've got my chisel, gloves, safety goggles, leashes, extra fanny pack to hold said rocks,
and ready to go.
All right, let's go find some rocks, bro.
After you, camper.
Lead the way.
Look at this.
So this is what we're looking for, I think.
Look at this really deep red here, like that, but large.
That's nice.
Oh, look at that.
So there's pieces everywhere.
That's really cool.
This is like the dirtiest backpack on the planet.
Matches its owner.
What?
Very funny.
You're working on this one?
Yeah.
Okay, I'm going to work on this one.
Do you need a chisel?
Yes.
Whoops.
Hang on, I got this.
Do you need a hammer?
Here's this.
Yeah, this will work, actually.
Oh, sure.
Here.
I'm going to try my small one to start, because this one needs finer stuff, so I have the
little ones.
And guess what else I brought?
What'd you bring?
Knee protection.
Brilliant.
Smart, right?
Okay, here we go.
So here's the problem.
We have to be really careful with where we hit.
We have to do it really slowly, because we're just going to lose it.
Good boys just hanging out while we're doing our thing.
We're doing good.
This is awesome, huh?
Whew.
Okay, you guys, here's the predicament.
You ready?
All right, we got a big pocket right here.
The worry is that it goes down the cliff, so I'm going to be nice and careful.
Oh, I almost lost my phone.
Oh, my God.
That was a close call.
I think I just got a big piece right here.
I might have you try to catch it.
Can you throw this in my backpack?
Sure.
Oh, my God.
Ah!
Oh, that's a beautiful one.
Great job.
Oh!
Don't drop it.
Did you drop it?
What are you doing with it?
Where'd it go?
I threw it in your backpack, but it went past your backpack down the hill.
Oh, Jesus.
Yeah, I got to go.
I'll go get that.
I think I figured out why it's so easy to find stuff, because people like me just throwing
it over the hill.
So I keep finding all these tiny pockets here.
They're just, like, very small pieces.
Just, like, not big concentrations like you would like, but it's fun, and it's a beautiful
day out.
The dogs are loving life.
Couldn't ask for a better day.
Hi, Rod.
How are we doing?
Rodney, this is very dangerous, buddy.
Do you want to take a break and come back?
Yeah, let's stop.
Yeah.
Let's get some sunscreen, too.
All right.
Look at my pocket.
Oh, my God, it's full.
I'm coming, Rod, bud.
They are...
They were meant for me, and they found me.
I found them for a reason.
My little rescues, they are, like, the dog version of me.
They are the perfect adventure buddies.
Rodney has really grown into his own with his confidence so much.
I remember dropping something right here.
How are we doing?
Whoa, look at these.
There's so many.
Honestly, I might have to say that our best finds were things that fell off.
Oh, that's a beautiful one.
Great job.
Oh!
I think we learned a very valuable lesson today, and it's that we don't have to do any
of the digging.
We can save a lot of energy because all you have to do is peruse the bottom here, and
you'll find even bigger chunks that people missed.
Or that people were asked to put in a backpack, and they threw it over it instead, and it
just rolled down a mountain.
Says who?
You know how they're like, beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
No, she was jealous.
It was the coolest thing of the day, and she just threw it.
It was pretty cool.
Yeah, it was.
Sorry, I messed up.
Somebody's got to find it.
I messed up.
Welcome to whoever found...
Ooh, another one!
Like, are you kidding me?
There it goes, right into the pocket.
Whoever said it was hard to find stuff around here was not looking in the right spot.
I want to keep definitely this one.
I think this is pretty.
Whoa!
These have got cool bubbles.
Look at this one.
This is pretty cool.
This one?
Yeah, I'm going to keep that.
Okay, this one's staying.
Wait, are you taking that?
Yeah.
You're going to take my rocks.
No, you can't take my rocks!
Is that mine too?
No.
Yeah, that's mine!
I know this one!
These are the ones I was going to keep.
Oh, this one's so cute.
I'll let you have that one.
Really?
Yeah.
For your...
Maybe I'll like this one too, maybe.
For my little baby one.
Alright, fine, I'll allow it.
Whoa, this one too!
Okay, you can have it.
Quit stealing all my ----.
What about yours?
Are any of yours keepable?
I already went through all mine.
I think I just learned the best way to find rocks is around the campsites.
I mean, look at that.
Why don't I just put them...
Whoa, whoa, whoa!
You didn't ask me!
Look at this one.
What are you doing?
Stop!
Can't take them all?
Stop!
Why are you doing this?
Which ones do you want?
All of them!
I know you do, but we can't...
We don't have the stores.
We can put them in my garden.
Yeah, so for the next 24 hours,
we actually decided to stay here
and kept going back and forth from our base camp
to the area to Rockhound.
And man, oh man, did we have a blast.
But we did promise to show you guys the hot springs,
so then we made our way over to El Dorado Hot Springs
where it's actually clothing optional
and they do have some private soaks.
So we opted for a private tub and got right in,
but I'll be completely honest with you guys,
it was more like a lukewarm spring than it was hot.
And I think it was the first time I've ever had goosebumps
inside a hot spring.
So honestly, it's such a cool, cool place
and you can even camp there.
I think depending on the time of year,
this would be amazing.
But that's not going to stop us
from staying in for the full hour.
I just love this area so much.
Thanks for being here.
We love you all.
We will see you next Friday
and every Friday after that.
Have a good one.
