My unbelievable experience at South Africas wine farms (Cape town) is a video where I explore the wine farms in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Hermanus, Constantia. The Wine Farms really has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. The wine tasting was also an amazing experience and I give my review of the amazing wine on the wine tasting tour.
#wineculture, #wineworld
I took a trip down to the wine lands of South Africa.
South Africa currently produces
over 1 billion liters of wine every year.
Imagine what 1 billion liters look like.
And this 1 billion liters of wine
is what is exported all over the world.
So South Africa is majorly known for wine production.
And most of the wine lands
are located in Cape Town, South Africa.
There are actually three popular places
where the wine is produced.
There's Berlin Busch, there's Pal,
and there's Frans Hoek.
Frans Hoek, I think it's a French word,
or a Dutch word, Frans Hoek.
So I said, okay, let me take a trip down to this place
to see what it's like.
And man, I almost got drunk.
I didn't get drunk, actually.
I drink wine a lot.
But man, I was just tasting so many different kinds of wine.
The first place we went to was a place called Cavalli.
We finally just got to the beautiful wine farms
of Stirling Busch.
I'm at a place called Cavalli.
It means horse, just like Cavalli,
like Roberto Cavalli.
So guys, let's go inside now
and explore Cavalli together.
Yeah, boy.
So our first wine is now the White Knight.
White Knight?
White Knight, yes.
It's called the White Knight.
Okay, so I swirl it like this?
You swirl it like that.
Yeah.
You nose it.
Pick up any flavors.
My nose is horrible.
When I was younger, they said,
don't smell your food.
But now we are smelling wine,
before we drink it.
It's a nice place.
It has an indoor restaurant
and also an outdoor area
where you can chill.
It also has a nice lake.
Apparently, when you're trying to take wine,
you swirl it and then you smell it
and all that stuff we see on TV.
But I was like,
what's all this?
What's all this?
If you're giving me wine,
I just open it and I just drink it.
I ain't got time to start swirling
and start smelling it.
I ain't no wine taster.
I'm just a normal Nigerian guy,
you know, African boy,
just out there trying to do my thing.
So I just wanted to just take the wine
and drink it and just have a nice meal with it.
So I just did my first wine tasting.
I had three glasses of wine.
And what I can basically say is that
wine, when you're tasting it fresh from the farm,
it sort of tastes a little bit different
than wine that you're opening your house
because you can see where they're making it from.
Everything's fresh.
So they gave me three wines
and I tried out three wines.
And when it comes to pricing,
it wasn't so expensive.
It was cheap, actually.
I was surprised because ambience
and all that bougie lifestyle
and all of that.
If I took a picture online,
I told you that,
oh, I went to the wine lands.
You'd think I spent like 1,000 rand,
but I just spent 40 rand.
Thank you.
Bye.
Bye-bye.
Drove along the highway
and on the left and on the right,
you can see a lot of wine lands.
You can see an amazing landscape.
You can see a lot of nice houses.
They were built in a specific style.
Apparently, most of the houses have Dutch design.
After this spot,
the next place we went to
was a place called the Hidden Valley.
So they have a restaurant at the top,
which has a remarkable view
of many of the wine lands in Cape Town.
The top restaurant deck
is where you want to probably get a nice meal.
It's also more expensive.
So what's so special about this place
compared to the other ones?
More about the beauty, the landscape.
Okay, I can see a lot of art sculptures
and stuff like that on the walls and stuff.
This is where we were in Cavalli.
Yeah.
The wines were named after the horses.
Yeah.
Here, they named them after the sculptures.
So for this side,
they have the restaurant,
which is behind me.
I'm sure you can see it just right here.
And when you switch to this side,
they have the landscape where they plant
most of the grapes for the wine.
So guys, these are olive trees.
I don't even know what olive tree looks like,
but now I do.
So we got a nice spot
and we just sat down there
and I was watching a lot of cars coming in
and it was really, really awesome.
Sterling Butch Farms just over there.
We bought burger and chips,
which was 150 Rand.
Not so expensive for a day out.
I was with Tingu and his brother
and it was an awesome experience.
It was just a vibe.
We're just chilling and talking and chatting
and he was telling me a lot of stuff
about South Africa that I never knew.
Gave me more insights
into also the history of South Africa.
He's a wonderful tour guide.
I'm gonna link his page down below.
You guys should check him out
if you're coming to South Africa,
if you're coming to Cape Town.
He's an awesome, amazing person.
Getting parking at this second spot
was actually difficult
because a lot of people were coming in here.
A lot of people.
So guys, there's something I've noticed
that I wanna talk about today.
Whenever I go to most of all these locations,
which I noticed in Kenya, Ghana, Cape Verde,
and now in South Africa,
is most of the people who come to these places
that I'm showing in most of these videos
are usually not locals.
More people coming from outside Africa to Africa,
yeah, it gives us revenue
and it also exposes them to parts of Africa.
But I feel more local people
should also travel around their location.
Because where I came to,
I was one of the only black people there.
I feel the more black people travel, explore,
the more our minds are open up to new ideas.
Like me now, I'm thinking,
okay, maybe one day I might want to get a wine farm
because I've been to a wine farm and I'm like,
ah, wine farm.
People with wine farm are making this much money.
Maybe I should start my wine farm business.
When we travel, it sort of exposes us to new ideas.
So you guys should comment below.
Is it that black people don't like traveling
or is it that black people don't like exploring?
The last place we went to was a place called The Graff.
The Graff is a luxury dining type place.
They have a spa.
They also have really nice apartments
where you can just come there and chill and spend the night.
If you want to experience the wild lands,
I did spend the night there
because I think the price was expensive
and I already had a place I would stay in town.
We're currently inside this really nice place
and this is where we're going to be doing the wine tasting.
It looks great though.
It just kind of looks like Bonner Boy,
but I definitely know it's not Bonner Boy.
That was also a nice experience.
Apparently, the owner of this place has a nice helipad
at the back of this place where he lands his helicopter.
He also has a diamond store
because I saw some nice diamonds on display.
This place is sort of like upscale, upmarket.
The wines are more expensive because the wine I got here,
I tasted three wines here too
and three of them were for 75 rand
compared to the first one I tasted that was 40 rand.
So I want to try it out now.
I've seen so many places like this
in different countries I've been to.
This place is very similar to the tea farms in Kenya.
The landscape, it looks very, very similar.
I did a video on that, you should check it out.
And also there's a place in Nigeria
called Genbu in Taraba State.
It also has a similar visual to this.
South Africa is beautiful.
I keep saying that every time.
South Africa is very beautiful.
I plan on sharing more places, going to more places,
going on more adventures
and sharing my experience with you guys
because I want more people to travel.
I want more people watching this to travel.
I know lockdown has discouraged a lot of traveling
all around, but I want more people to travel around Africa.
The more we explore our cultures,
the more we understand each other,
the more we understand that we are more similar
than we are different.
Also, don't forget to check out Tingle's Instagram page
