HIGHLIGHTS | Wolfsburg vs. Werder Bremen (Frauen Bundesliga 2024-25 Matchday 1)

Sarai Linder who finds Berenstein. Berenstein! Turn over the line. Sarai Linder. Two summer signings. Out of nowhere, Joanna Mahmoud levels the scores at the AOK Stadion. The first real sight of gold they've had tonight. And the visitors have struck gold. Mahmoud was on the move. Mühlhaus is going to give chase here against Wehdemeyer. Mühlhaus! Werner Bremen complete the first half comeback. And the top goalscorer from the second tier last season shows that she can cut it in the big time too. Incredible strength shown by Larissa Mühlhaus. The 21-year-old taking on Berenstein. Is there an equalizer for Wolfsburg before the half-time whistle? Lynn Wilms. Enderman in a lot of space on the right. Time to pick a cross. Goes low. Berenstein! Mahmoud now with the corner. Again it goes low. This time headed clear at the near post by Lena Latwein. Mahmoud back into the mix. And Fromms. Both goals conceded. She did not cover herself in glory. And now a dangerous ball in for Werner Bremen. Fromms saves! And a big save it was as well from Melle Fromms. That route one football is something that Werner Bremen are resorting to and it's being successful. Cross into the box. Carolina Zemes. Back post! Zemes! Fromms saves again! And it's scrambled off the line from the Sheevils in the second half. Svenja Hoots. Lovely corner. Met well! It's a set piece that proves Bremen's undoing. Resistance broken after a positive start to this second half. But Wolfsburg do what Wolfsburg do and sometimes when you're the better team you have to dig deep. Oh what! Again we're being treated to a Monday nightness! A moment! Just under 25 minutes because oh dear this might be an onslaught and oh! We have a gift at one end and a game that is a gift that just cannot name it. Hoots finds Linde. Linde goes long. Pop is there! And Tess Peng with a sharp header. Back to Peng. Can't afford to take a touch and doesn't but it's picked up by Uliprand. Lena Latvijn has a handball but Pop will make something out of it! And Livia Peng plucks it out of the air at full stretch. Dropped dangerously but met by a Werder Bremen head. Now Svenja Hoots strikes! Oh that was creeping in the bottom corner were it not for a magnificent save from Livia Peng. Oberdorf her composure in midfield you can say has been sorely missed. Dominique Janssen's presence at the back as we're going to get a red card now. Lara Schmidt kicked the ball away for her second yellow and this could be a bad twist in the tail for Werder Bremen and this is just such a silly yellow card to concede. Long after the foul had been committed long after the whistle had been blown she was playing with fire and got burnt, Lara Schmidt.
