HIGHLIGHTS | Atlético Madrid vs. Granada CF (Liga F 2024-25 Matchday 1)

And it is Granada who get us underway. The team in green. Ketiko Madrid in the red and whites. Alvarez comes back to her to launch it forward. Positive from Granada out to Alexia. Comes back off Marazza, still with Alexia. Squares in. This could be a real chance. Oh, what a great early opportunity. Paula Arana. Square on the Atletico Madrid goal. Real positive work from Alexia from that left-hand side. A touch to bring it down from Paula Arana. Let's get a bit more comfortable. You might expect them to take control of this game. Have it with Jensen up to Azebade. Azebade with a cross into the six-yard box. And it goes in to give Atletico Madrid the lead after all the early promise from the visitors. It is Atletico who take the ball past Sandra in the 13th minute. Atletico Madrid won. Granada nil. Well, Gio was in the perfect position. Granada have been in there attacking thirds. So fairly even in terms of the possession so far with Boariza. Boariza finds Gio behind the defense. Sandra had to come out. Well, she could see the number 18 bearing down on her. Granada, goalkeeper, had to be brave. She seems to have come out of the worst of the two with Medina. Tries to run into a bit of space. Azebade is saying she's in all sorts of space on this right-hand side. Back to Gio. Save at the near post. This is the second Gio chance that Jensen passed to her that was saved by Granada goalkeeper. Fiamma. Azebade looks up, looks for options, cuts it back. Oh, I think Sandra had to get a glove to that. Might have just been dipping in the cutback from Azebade and then it just had to be tipped over the crossbar and still receiving treatments as play continues. The field from Laura Perez. The pass back to her intercepted by Medina. Now it's lost by Gabby Garcia. It's a turn from Larry. A shot that Gallardo can see was going wide. Just pointed to suggest that she knew maybe the 70th minute will be the sign for one if not two changes to be made by Atletico. Laura Perez. Ball comes in and was there but she had Zania for company. Do Granada believe that they have an equalizer in this game having lost a player in this second half? Do they just keep it down to one nil if they can? Gio might have other ideas. Pulls it back to Fiamma. Fiamma with a right-footed strike. May have taken a deflection on its way just wide. Gio giving this back to Fiamma and deflects away for an Atletico corner. It's an outswing up from this corner and it's a header that goes in to confirm the victory. Sheila Gallardo off the bench and with a header on the score sheets with the seconds ticking away and the home fans will celebrate a victory. Atletico Madrid 2 Granada 0. Is there time for number three? There might well be you know but for Sandra being there, Sheila Gallardo fancied another go after Tatiana Pinto's effort was saved. She might well have got two off the bench but then it was pushed into the path of the number nine and that goal kick the last action of this game. The two managers shake hands and the new league season starts with a win for Atletico Madrid. The most valuable player award given to their goal scorer Gio on her league debut for her new sides. Opening the scoring in the 13th minutes and then as we headed into injury time a corner that was headed in by Sheila Gallardo.
