look
at this beauty right here
now this is just the shed but uh
this is where they uh had their
livestock
i just
i'm gonna say it i love the patina
i don't so much appreciate the bullet
holes but you know
yeah
and then a look inside
i'll see the light gauge
or cart track up on the ceiling there
and then yeah this is just
it's amazing isn't it how they kind of
like build these
these things from
just you know repurpose stuff like you
say the all-car tracks and
pieces of wood and the
corrugated metal yeah you just use what
you have
[Music]
as you can see
that beautiful flag
is flailing in the wind
and that means
somebody is in residence
however
they have allowed us to
walk around and film
so let's take a look
and the first room we'll check out
is the honeymoon suite
which is locked from the inside
press up
oh
very cozy oh it's so much nicer in here
than it is outside temperature wise
so this was a an addition i think
oh no this one wasn't this is the main
i think this is
isn't this the main cabin because it's
got the pitch roof and then they had the
additions afterwards
so there's a sign on the back of the
door that says welcome to
this camp now i'm not going to give out
the name of the camp
if this is your first visit to this camp
this is not some old abandoned house
that you have stumbled across it is a
rare historic treasure in the national
park
if you read some of the entries in the
log books located on the kitchen table
you will find writings that indicate how
much volunteer work goes into cleaning
and maintaining this place so a nice
little shelter
that looks like somebody's
made a fire inside fire pit
which is a shame there's remnants here
on the ground so it's like come on
underneath the structure yeah because
you're going to burn the structure down
you can already see
it's just
come on people use your head
and here you get a glimpse of the the
watering system it's all gravity fed
another spring around here
that's so neat
so the back porch side porch
and a nice patio hello tonto
come out
enjoy a nice refreshment
watch the sun go down and there's
another notice here that says on lands
administered by the national park
service it is unlawful to excavate
remove disturb deface or destroy any
historic or prehistoric
building
structure ruin site
or in place exhibit artifact or object
or to collect
appropriate evaluate
excavate damage disturb or destroy
artifacts pictographs petroglyphs
objects of antiquity fossils or
scientific specimens
violators are subject to arrest
conviction can carry criminal penalties
of up to one year and or ten thousand
dollars
[Music]
oh there you go
we have water
and that comes from a natural spring
that's gravity fed
how cool is that
let's take a look inside
pack it in
pack it out
yep wish more people would adhere to
that
very easy yeah there's no dustman
service
what do you call dustman over here
the garbage man there's no garbage man
over here the trash man
oh wow isn't this cute
wow
fully stocked look at these pots and
pans
please keep these cupboard doors latched
at all times
there are some tins of food in there
but obviously you don't want
to put anything that the mice can get
into so tins
and cleaning fluid
nice
then again a
kitchen sink here gravity fed
water and
just like the other one
i'm going to remove this drug real quick
that's incredible
i love it
and then some more of these
great
advertisements
1932
these places are just i
say it all the time but they are so
incredible
i just
now this is actually quite a good idea
for people who really feel they need to
graffiti what they've done is they put a
blackboard up here
there you go
well that would yeah that is a good idea
make a because they do have the
chalkboard paint so it's easy to
to get rid of if it's rude
log book signed
business cards left inside
and have you seen all these
newspaper clips and pictures i know
these are
like i said i've said it before i could
just these news old newspaper clippings
old articles newspapers i could just
read them all day long i love the
artwork the just the way they look i
mean
it's something special
[Music]
and right beside it looks like a little
nook here
that's just a little storage shed
okay some extra cans and
bits and pieces yep
and then opposite that little storage
shed
there's another storage shed
in a little bit worse condition oh yeah
this one's kind of just filled with the
odds and sides
looks like people have left some rubbish
in here
and no trip would be complete
well these ones are really solid
mib
okay attention friends bang stick under
the rim to scare away scorpions
but fully stocked i'm not even going to
go there yeah
these
these ones are still usable
yes they are and obviously this is a new
addition now this cabin was built in the
1930s
i'm not going to give away any more
information than that apart from that it
is in death valley because it is a
volunteers cabin and you've already said
too much
and i've already said too much shh
it's a secret the one thing i will add
though if you've been here please let us
know but without giving away
where it is in the description
right share your memories just not the
location yeah
caution hazardous waste area absolutely
[Laughter]
ready
okay
this one hasn't been used for a while
and i don't think i'd want to use it
oh the rats have used it yeah
that's still pretty cool
look what i found jan we're gonna need
your assistance on this one
jan
was a nz
salt flask racer
a few others oh wow
okay i'm going to say
toyota corolla
i'm going to say a ford
[Laughter]
now that was just a joke
don't take it so seriously
now
obviously the roads up here nowadays are
pretty horrendous
but back in the day
the roads were kept up because of the
mining and it wasn't until
the 60s and 70s
flash floods happened and everything and
the park service have decided not to
maintain some of the roads
right oops
so this car
would have been able to
make it up here obviously that's why
it's here
that's really neat isn't it yeah
[Music]
and one nice view
over the whole complex
amazing
and we were able to find the source
this is pretty neat isn't it
oh wow look at that
that's really cool and i like how
they've protected it
well i think this is also to stop the
donkeys from getting in
there's a little bird's nest up there
look
isn't that cute someone's made a bird's
nest a birdhouse a birdhouse yeah
cute
so in here
we have the shower room
this is pretty neat
that's just a locker
yep
which is empty
oh
that's a bit stiff
and a shower there it is
fill solar tank from kitchen faucet
refill after use
and there you go there's the shower head
right in the middle of the ceiling
pretty ingenious
close it up
i also love these
really tall windows what a great view
in the sink
they're really pretty aren't they even
open you've got the latch yeah
really nice oh
oh
look at that old photograph
that's pretty amazing that is really
cool
now
i have no idea who they are
but it's a neat photo
and the fridge is empty but this is
where you would store some food to stop
your uh
stop the rodents getting it yep
you got tons of books to read all the
reading material that's great
a little jacket if you're smaller in
stature
[Music]
they like their horseshoes here
locker
it is
i can't open it it's jammed
it's kind of very
mish-mashy isn't it
which is cool it gives it more character
look at this old cabinet
the old little latch
and the ornate uh
hinges
that is so cool
it is just a very simple but i mean
like we keep saying if you know you're
in a pinch somewhere to get out of the
elements just until you get yourself
sorted out i mean this is
yeah it's not just i mean it obviously
is a historic value but these cabins can
save people's lives which is why it's so
important to
keep them better than when you found
them
right and it also it takes you back to a
much simpler time i mean this is what
they had out here yeah they may have had
a spring for some water and that was
luxury
i mean other than that it was just four
walls and a roof to keep you out of the
elements
a little uh
closet area in here
but it's just it's the some simplicity
of it i i love it
i think it's really
this is really great i love finding
these things
i mean look at the door how they've
mish-mashed the door just with bits of
wood
right
what they've got to their disposal you
know put the fly screen up
[Music]
and yet again
another hidden gem
deep in death valley
so we hope you've enjoyed this explore
and like we said earlier
we're not going to disclose this
location so if you do know where it is
please don't comment just let us know
that you've been here
and on that note get out there go and
explore put another pin in the atlas and
we will see you
on our next adventure
bye
[Music]
so
[Music]
you
