Hey, what's up, it's Chainsmail Jenna, and welcome to August Carving of the Month.
This carving was brought to you by PA Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau.
So, come with me, I'm going to show you something real quick.
So, I'm working on a massive big project for Wisconsin's Garden,
and it is a family of wood spirits, and here we have the grandmother, the grandfather,
the grandson, the mother, and for today's video, I will be carving the father.
Got him kind of drawed out, and I actually don't like it, so I'm going to redo all of it here.
But yeah, super excited. Let's grab a saw, start carving the father.
Look at that! See, and this is why you want to do a look over with your saws,
because that's a big no-no right there.
If you come over here real quick, he'll be kind of similar to the grandfather.
He's going to have a big old beard, but he's not going to have like a mustache,
like his beard is going to be from his lower lip down, like cheek lower lip down.
So, got a new setup on my 500.
I got to show you it, guys, because it looks so pretty.
Oh, here it is, and this is a brand new 500.
And my little gas cap here, it's leaking.
It's so nice.
So, this is a 20-inch toonie bar, I believe, or is it a quarter?
No, it's a toonie. Pretty sure it's a toonie.
I just said sword fight, Bando, and then he dropped the stick.
I think he wants this one.
Okay, you take mine. I'll take yours.
Ready? Go!
Getting your sword. You're supposed to, you're supposed to play with me, Bob.
He's too busy chewing on these fun swords!
There's so many!
Still debating whether or not I want to add hair, but let me show you this.
This is kind of a sucky situation, and I'm just trying to think my way around it.
This knot, this stinking knot is there.
There's always a knot when, where you don't want it.
Look at him! He actually looks crazy.
I'm going to use this knot as an advantage.
And he, that can be a pupil, and I'll make a pupil. I'll try to match him up better.
But look how crazy he looks!
Like, he kind of looks like a tiki man.
So, I'm gonna try to make him not so tiki-ish and more like wood spirit-ish.
Got his eyebrows all drawn in, and his eyes.
And I'm gonna just keep pushing this back, because you can see how much room I can work here.
He's the sand man!
He hates his job, and he hates me.
And he doesn't get paid good.
He doesn't get paid at all.
Carved in his eyeballs.
Started his eyebrows, which I made him like all fun and like whoopty whooped.
I don't know.
So, we had to bring the carvings closer to the shop,
because one, I needed electricity, and two, I needed a couple other things.
So, we brought them closer, and how we brought them over to the shop,
so we did that by strapping them to the forks instead of picking them up with the forks.
So, it was much more easier to set them down on the ground.
We did it like that because it's eight feet tall, and it's top heavy.
Um, okay, update on my stress levels.
He's the second biggest log out of all of them.
Then stay on the path!
Yeah, that's better.
I got my mask on, and I'm sweating so bad.
Like, I feel like I should be in the ocean.
But we are on a race right now against time,
because there is a storm coming, and I'm trying to finish this project.
and this is the most beautiful promise sign I have ever seen.
Look at that rainbow.
So pretty with the corn, and like when you go over,
and you like look at the sun kind of shining through the corn.
So pretty.
I think we can get back to work now.
I think we're in the clear.
Maybe.
We'll see.
So I'm trying to match this eye with the knot,
because there's always a knot where you don't want it.
So I'm going to use this knot as the pupil,
and try to make a very similar shape to it on this eye.
So I wanted the grandfather and the father to have this goofiness to them,
and so I gave him a big old happy smile.
And that knot made him even more goofy.
I love him.
So this is Mr. Knot, and I added some stain to kind of make,
you know, like the rest of his face kind of pop out a little bit.
So stain the gums, the tongue, the eyelids, and yeah.
Here we have the father, the carving of the month.
