Hello friends and welcome to this new video.
Today we are in India and more precisely in Agra
to talk about a new wonder of the world, the Taj Mahal.
I had already come to India when I was younger
but I never had the chance to visit this place to catch my breath.
For those who do not know, I am of Indian origin,
on my mother's side, who also accompanied us with Eliott during this trip
and it is even more important for me that she comes to see the Taj Mahal with me
in my project of 7 wonders.
Since I was a child, I have heard a lot of stories about the Taj Mahal
and I am very happy today to be able to explain the history of this monument
and why it represents the greatest proof of love in the world.
The construction of the monument as well as everything you see around there on the image,
i.e. the gardens, the two mosques, the fountain or even the water plans,
it took 20 years and 20,000 people to build all this place
under the orders of Emperor Shah Jahan, I will explain a little later who he is,
and today the Taj Mahal is simply the symbol of India.
It is considered the most beautiful monument in the world
and the most visited place in India, of course, with 4 million visitors.
To compare a little with the Eiffel Tower, which has 7 million visitors per year,
the Eiffel Tower is an easy place to access,
you just have to take a plane, a train and it's settled.
The city of Agra is really outside and far from the very big cities in India,
it still represents a huge mass of people who take the time to visit this place.
To tell you now about the history of the Taj Mahal,
it is simply the most beautiful proof of love from Emperor Shah Jahan to his third wife.
Yes, because the Indian emperors had several wives,
a dozen at times to be able to ensure their descendants and the throne.
Her name was Arjuman and she was elected Mumtaz Mahal,
which means that she was the emperor's favorite and she was the title of the palace's chosen one.
He really fell madly in love with her, at least that's what they say,
because we don't really have an explanation of why she and not another,
it's just writings and information that we have that have remained of the story.
He was so in love with her, she had 14 children from him,
but unfortunately she died at the birth of the last 14th child
and as the last proof of love for her, Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal.
During the construction of the Taj Mahal, he fell seriously ill
and his sons were already fighting for the succession of the throne.
And it is his son, Aurangazeb, who will then take power and lock up his father
because he was totally against the fact that his father invested so much money
and so much effort to build a tomb for his mother.
Shah Jahan was therefore locked up in the fort of Agra,
where he could see the construction of the Taj Mahal,
and he died a few years later and was buried next to Mumtaz Mahal for eternity.
And here we are in the Taj Mahal.
As you can see, there are few shots,
simply because we had the total prohibition of filming in the Taj Mahal,
but we made sure to steal a few shots.
So as you can see, we did a kind of close-up, things like that so that we wouldn't be seen.
And I especially tried to take shots to show
because behind the barriers you see there, there are the two tombs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.
As you can see, there is someone in front who is watching.
My mother who came about thirty years ago to the Taj Mahal,
she could see the tombs well.
And above all, there were still all the precious stones embedded in the marble in the Taj Mahal.
And suddenly, really, now they have removed them for a matter of conservation.
There you can see, it's the two tombs, it's all I managed to get from that.
But the interior was really beautiful, it's not very big,
there were lots and lots of people, everyone was queuing.
So it wasn't really practical,
but here's a little bit of what we could show you from inside the Taj Mahal.
And the emotion that comes out of the Taj Mahal in the morning,
I was able to go there at sunrise, and it was really incredible.
Every minute the color of the Taj Mahal changes, it reflects a different glow.
It's really incredible for once, the place, and it's breathtaking.
It's simply the most beautiful place I've seen in my life so far.
