A day of UNFORESEEN adventures [Vlog 40]

Now I'm here packing up my things in Panajachel and I'm gonna go to Antigua today. And you know what? It's already late. I think I'll just take an easy ride there. I'm already exhausted from being so up early in the morning. So yeah, easy day today. And coming up is a really exciting thing. I am going to a festival, a really interesting festival. As I was leaving the hotel, I ran into these guys and had a little conversation. It turns out they are filmmakers and making a movie with skits all around Guatemala. After we got talking, they asked me if I would do a scene in their movie. I mean, I certainly felt pressured for time, but with such a rare and bizarre opportunity, I remembered to just let life take the reins and go with it. They scripted this stereotypical scene where the Guatemalan guy hits on the American girl and he tries to get her to bring him on her motorcycle. They told me to only respond in English and just keep saying, no, thank you, no, thank you. He's for me? No, thank you, no, thank you. No, thank you. Oh, darling. Ah, no. No. No, no. No, thank you, I have husband. As you can probably tell, I felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable. I'm a terrible actor, and I felt so lost. Needless to say, we did not get the scene in one take. You can be on the motorcycle, and when he says, hello, you come closer and say, hello, and then you walk. Okay, okay. Uh-huh. Again, recording. Rehearsal. Recording. One, two, action. Hello. Well, I was just a part of a movie that apparently is going to air in the cinema. I was terrible. I am a terrible actress, as you might get a glimpse from the vlog. But that was super adorable, super fun. So nice that they asked me. And really fun. So now it's even, even later, leaving Panajachel. And we're just going to go straight to Antigua. So this ride will be, I guess a basic ride. Leaving late in the day is something that normally makes me pretty nervous. So to settle my mind, I remembered that whatever is happening in the moment, wherever I am, and whatever time it is, I trust that it's all happening in perfect timing. And the reason leaving late on a motorcycle is unsettling is because you never know what you'll run into. Just like we're about to see. Space, galaxies around us, oh shit. Look at this, water crossing. And there's a motorcycle, adventure motorcycle dude over there. Let's go say hi. And it's kind of a, no? Where's the, yeah? So you did here? Would you mind, maybe? Okay. Remember, I'm a solo motorcyclist on a bike that's loaded and heavy and I'm not the greatest off-road. So having them there was such a gift. I couldn't help but think of the fact that Kevin forgot his camera on the riverbank and had to go back and all the other little moments that placed us there to cross paths at that exact timing. Any more or any less, I would not have seen them. I know it sounds cheesy, but this is the flavor of magic that expresses itself through perfect timing. And I got to say, it tastes pretty darn good. But the day was yet to be over and we had some more unexpected adventures await. ♪ So let us just do. ♪ This tour here. Well, it's the last leg of today's journey, which has been a day full of the unexpected. And yet each and every disruption has had its own sense of enchantment. It makes me ponder once again, why exactly does the mind so fear the unknown? Because the truth is we do know that the ride is most beautiful when it's full of surprises, twists and turns, and just the right amount of chaos. On a motorcycle, this is the beauty of the adventure. And as it turns out, life is just the same. Hola. Okay. Alrighty. Here in Antigua and so thrilled. First of all, I don't know if you'll be able to see it on the camera. Oh yeah. You can see that, right? That's the volcano. And there's a view of it. Oops. There's a great view of it right here because I should just walk backwards. Okay. So, made it to Antigua. I'm very hungry. I've only had some fruit today. And Antigua has some awesome food options. So, I'm just gonna go find something great.
