This smells amazing.
So what is this?
This is our handmade caramel bread pudding.
The bread pudding that we make is,
we make this every morning at six o'clock in the morning.
It has already been done from French bread.
We mix it all in and then afterwards we bake it together
with various ingredients, mostly cinnamon and ginger.
And then we go and we put caramel sauce on top
and finish it off with a little bit of whipped cream.
It smells amazing.
Try it.
I guarantee you'll love it.
I bet.
There you go.
To you.
Thank you.
It is amazing.
Of course it is.
So what is the bread?
Can we try to pick it up?
It's French bread and then they bake it,
I think with eggs and spices.
They mix it all together.
Because I think traditionally it's made with like stale bread.
With stale bread?
Stale bread.
Like old bread.
Old bread.
So it was a way to reuse the bread.
This is amazing.
Try it.
A little bit of everything.
So?
That is so good.
It's like if a cinnamon roll was like jiggly.
It's so good.
For me, this is like a 12 out of 10.
12 out of 10.
Michelin star?
Yes.
This is my favorite thing so far, I think.
I see it from your eyes.
I'm almost crying.
I love cinnamon.
It's like my favorite thing.
Wow.
You could go over the top easily with this.
Dance for New Orleans.
There you go.
So now we got a lot more to do.
Palace Cafe.
They have one of the best, if not the best, Bananas Foster.
And now we're gonna try it.
And we are here in the middle of...
Where is this road?
Canal Street.
Charters and Canal.
Look how beautiful.
Because it is two restaurants like this.
But here the second is the best.
Right.
Brennan's is the original maker.
Maker.
But I'm pretty sure they're owned by the same parent company.
So I think it's gonna be good.
Let's try it.
This is a great, a great moment right here.
My wife is making it.
We're honored.
We honored.
We honor.
So you're not married?
No.
Thank you so much.
Wow.
It's amazing.
Thank you.
Banana Foster.
Oh my gosh, look at the sauce.
I don't know if you eat with the fork or you need to eat with something else.
Don't know.
I don't know.
You feel it?
I feel a new audience.
This needs to compete with the banana pudding.
I knew it.
I knew you were gonna say that.
I can see.
So wait, is it better than banana pudding?
We are there.
We are the same.
Oh my gosh, equal.
We are equal.
Equal to your banana pudding.
Equal to my banana pudding.
Wow.
This is maybe one of the best desserts in the restaurant.
Oh my gosh.
Shocking.
It's no comparison with the cobbler.
What was that?
Peach cobbler.
Peach cob...
No.
Banana Foster.
We did the right to buy one each.
I don't share with you.
Oh my gosh.
It is one of the best in the South.
Okay, you're right.
It's either like at the same level of banana pudding.
I can't decide between the two, but everything else is much lower.
No, it's not.
This is so good.
It's like, it's like caramel-y, a little cinnamon-y.
It tastes a little bit banana pudding.
Wow.
Yeah, it is the banana, the flavors, but...
This is delicious.
Something so simple.
Make it with love.
Yes.
Table-side presentation to perfection.
And it's so good.
I'm shocked.
I was thinking like, okay, bananas and ice cream, but no.
This is probably the best.
Yeah.
What's special about this place?
It's special because here we said the first time, I love you to each other.
So with our beignets.
I don't know if it was for the beignets or for everything.
But that was a special moment here in Café Du Monde.
Oh.
So good, right?
My first coffee.
Frozen.
Approved.
I have to take this one.
No way.
This is what I always used to order.
Going, mine.
You thought you were going to hate it, right?
I think I was going to hate it.
Like Starbucks and stuff like that.
This is a 10 out of 10.
Coffee here is approved.
And this day was a really good one.
Like I remember.
Amazing.
You love it?
Yeah, this is something you have to do it.
You have a little something on your nose.
So now we're going to go to Angelo Broccato's, which is the Italian
like ice cream bakery.
In New Orleans.
Over 100 years old.
Started by Sicilians.
Close to the French Quarter and then they moved locations here later on.
Okay, so today what are we going to review?
I think we're going to get some classic Sicilian stuff.
Okay.
Like cannoli.
We have to see what they have inside.
Cannoli.
Yeah, let's see.
All right.
That's it, I guess.
Here we go.
He's trying spumoni.
This is tutti frutti, lemon and pistachio almond all together.
Yeah, a tutti frutti.
How do you know the score?
Okay.
I hate it.
I knew you weren't gonna like it.
I don't know what is this.
Spumoni?
No.
So this is his original flavor, torrencino.
This was his original first thing that they were selling.
So they still sell it for...
For...
Yeah, this I'm interested to see your opinion on.
I like it, so...
I knew you're gonna like this one, yeah.
This is like the torrone.
Yes.
Ice cream.
And this is approved.
Okay, I like it.
So we're one and one.
One and one.
This we're gonna fight.
Okay, let's try castatina.
Castatina when we go...
In Sicily was amazing.
It was amazing.
Let's see.
They are there.
Really?
That's surprising to me.
But they're there.
It's unbelievable.
I'm happy.
They are there.
I mean, it's not like Palermo, but hey, this I would buy it.
Nice.
Wow, this is big praise.
Big praise.
My god.
Final test.
Canolo.
Let's see it.
Oh, half chocolate, half vanilla with pistachio.
Vanilla, no.
I don't know.
I don't...
It's ricotta.
Oh, ricotta.
Yeah.
And they filled it fresh right there.
Yeah, right there.
Approved.
This is exciting.
It looks good.
So you approve.
If we lived here, you would come here for canoli.
I approve that place.
No spumoni for me, but everything else.
How does this canolo compare to the ones that we had in New York?
It is there in New York.
Some, it can beat some New Yorkers.
Yeah.
This is exciting and we're there.
Are you surprised?
I'm shocked.
I'm like, I don't know what to say because I was thinking, oh, again,
last review, something is going to be terrible.
But you're approved.
It's Italian approving.
Hanson's Snowballs.
Alessio got the fancy chocolate with crushed strawberry.
Yeah.
Great location, guys.
First snowball ever.
It's really good.
I told you.
It's so hard to describe, right?
Yeah.
It's not a granita italiana.
No.
And it's not a crunchy snow cone.
But it's better than what I was thinking.
Try mine.
I'm, I'm like shocked a little bit.
I knew it.
I'm Italian shocked because I was thinking no approving.
So this is cream of nectar with condensed milk.
This is fabulous.
I told you, I told you.
New Orleans, your state, it is a 10 out of 10.
