Vice President Kamala Harris is aiming to win more support from union and working class voters.
She's making two campaign stops in Michigan.
NTD correspondent Jason Blair brings us an update from a rally in Flint.
Vice President Kamala Harris made a stop in Detroit before coming here to Flint at the
Dort Center. I'm told the venue here holds about 6,000 people and they do expect it
to be at full capacity. Flint is a union stronghold. U.S. dock workers suspended a
strike yesterday and reopened East Coast and Gulf ports with a tentative agreement
to raise salaries. Both Harris and Trump are trying to earn more union and working class votes.
Harris released a statement on the tentative agreement saying,
this step indicates progress toward a strong contract and represents the power of collective
bargaining. Dock workers deserve a fair share for their hard work getting essential goods
out to communities across America. Many unions have a history of backing Democrat candidates.
However, this election, the Democrats did not get some key nods as usual.
This week, the International Association of Firefighters said that they will not
back any presidential candidate. A similar announcement was made last month by Teamsters.
