Twins celebrate 1st birthday weeks after separation surgery at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

[Music] the family of twins Amari and javar have been waiting for this moment for an entire year the boys settling into their first day at home Tuesday with their siblings Caleb age 9 Anora Age 4 and parents Shena and Timothy hey little babies they were born conjoined in September 2023 showing part of their sternum diaphragm and liver until they were finally separated in August they're extraordinarily rare they're rare to be diagnosed and if they're diagnosed then they're rare to be separable the family turning to doctors at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia their surgery taking 8 hours a high-risk procedure with a staff of two dozen Specialists helping out it was a lot of preparation and it went smoothly mom Shena here seeing them each on their own for the first time after separation we definitely felt a weight it off our shoulders the whole situation was a was a crazy Journey but to be here right now is just so surreal still surre real to this day
